Me and my mate have written a couple of songs, we were going to start a band but all the drummers in our area seem to be total tosspots

We've decided to do it all ourself...my dads building a room / studio type thing for me but it aint finished yet so we're going to write / neaten everything up, all the arrangements and that and then when it's ready we're going to do it like this

Step 1: I'll borrow a drum kit off my mate and my mate will lay down a rough guitar track while I do the drums

Step 2: Record the basic instruments

Step 3: Maybe bounce some tracks and add all the little bits

Has anyone attempted doing anything like this?

We dont really wanna have to teach a bassist and a drummer the songs + it'll get a bit cramped in the little place

And I like the DIY route anyway :)

Well this my DIY band... but its just me alone...with no friends :'(
http://www.purevolume.com/acomastate . but who needs them to record anyways when u do one track at a time lol

now how long have u played drums ? cuz its not that easy.. iv been drumming for 5 weeks... and by the recording id say im decent for a newbie.... but make sure u practice.. cuz you dont want to rush ur drum tracks. everything else will fall apart if u do. .. it may be a little hard to do everything without a full band , but dont give up and it can be done .

I think I'll manage, its coming up to 3 years now

I havnt got amazing recording equipment but we're just doing it for the experience

I'm using a fostex VF-80 8-track couple of mics, couple of amps and a drum kit, and some other borrowed stuff
