This is starting to worry me, I've been singing for just over 2 years now (never had lessons), when I first started I could hit notes that now, I now really struggle with. Which is worrying me a bit to be honest, I suppose it might have something to do with the fact that I was 15/16 then, and 18 now, As i've never had lessons I don't know of anything that would damage my voice or anything that would help.

Just a bit of information, I tend to sing in a classic rock style, so theres no shouting or anything, I don't smoke, I rarely drink or do anything in partcicularly unhealthy.

So to the crux of the post, does anyone know of any particular things to avoid doing or to try to do to help my voice?

Cheers in advance,
Nick

You are probably singing with more excess tension that you were before. Assuming your voice was done changing 2 years ago, you shouldn't notice a range-lessening. But tension can dramatically cut your range.

If you have any pain, hoarseness, or soreness, you are damaging your voice. However, you can still have a lot of bad habits and unecessary tension without these symptoms.

The list of "what to do and what not to do" is too long for a single post. Why not go out and take some voice lessons with a good teacher? Your voice will improve and grow as you never imagined before, and you will be able to feel secure that you understand and can properly use correct vocal technique.

Cheers for the help, I think it would porbably a good idea to get a teacher.

in the meentime (sp?) just do some e's a's and other vowels and use vowel combo's on different legato's ex: Eeeeee change to Aaaaaa on the same note octave higher fall back to start note
it will probably help a little but I agree on getting a VC-Teacher
