Well.....its not what you want to hear but unless your extremely patient....you cant make much of a recording with 1 mic
Get your band to chip in and buy a couple

you can't record drums with 1 mic.
that's a size 7 full stop, BTW. as in, its final. Anyt recording of drums with 1 mic will just totally sound like the mutt's nuts taste.

I disagree. My band used a single dynamic vocal mic and our recording came out fine. (www.purevolume.com/opium4themasses) Its nothing professional but give it some compression using Audacity (free) and your sorted. You can always record another track with JUST the bass drum or a cymbal, whatever.

Actually, until about the '60s, most recordings were done in mono, using one mic and careful placement of performers/drums/amps, etc.
Though I suggest nowadays that you try to get a matching mic and do a stereo record if you're dead set on this minimalist approach (if you're really pressed for cash, some adapters will work instead of a mixer, straight into whatever computer you happen to have lying around). Be warned however, in order to get things to sound good, you're probably going to spend days working on your mic/band placement.
