hi everyone this is a little bit of a loong story, anyway her goes.
last monday my band got ourselves a gig at the governor hindmarsh (in adelaide australia) we were told we didnt need to bring our own amps they had a selection there. so we rocked up all pumped and ready to go we were told were last abit of a bummer bt oh well more time to relax.

so we then asked the lady that was managing it all and we asked do we need our amps? and she sed no if you have your lead and guitar your fine.

we chilled abit more until the lead guitarists uncle jus t said double check guys, so we went back in asked her and gues what she said..... YOU SHOULD HAVE HAD YOUR OWN STUFF....at this point i was so close to gettin a speaker and shoving it up her fat ****ing ***.

anyway! so our lead guitarists uncle quickly phoned back his mates and they got all of his stage gear big massive speakers 2 behringer amps, he had the lot.

anyway we were told through several emails that we were being supplied marshall amps n sh.it and we were having a soundcheck when we got there.

(which never happened), at this point all of the band members were furious and stressed at the time, so we got called up, setup our stuff and turned the amp on we didnt have a soundcheck so there was no time to tune except for on stage.. so shes baffling on about something promotional about herself, while were trying to tune our guitars (having had the soundcheck this problem wouldnt have arisen, she then turns around and looks at me and yells into the mic in a bar full of old people half wasted and smoking rollies "excuse me are you a professional? im speaking and you are rudely interrupting me by strumming that thing in your hands (my les paul classic l/handed).

THEN our lead guitarists uncle that got all of the stuff in time and had to race back to his house because of poor organization said "hey shut up you made us bring all of our stuff down here when we were told not to, so FUC.K YOU!!
!!!" and then let rip a massive sicka.ss bass riff in A it suited the moment so well!!!!

he said it into the mic aswell!!!!! that was one of the best feelings ive ever had, if any of you were in my shoes right now you would be wanting to hunt this woman down, we then went on to play our songs we had 9 arranged and were told in numerous emails half an hour you get and we took maximum ten minutes, and were then told 1 more song so we were really dissapointed, then she got back in front of the mic had verbal diahorrea and then broke into a gay *** cover song!!!

so shes used our time to sing and baffle on about herself and her promotion and everything, we were at this point wanting to get her outside the bar and just smash her up, it was a case of poor organization anyone else had anything happen like this???? :naughty:

Whoooa, I would of been so pissed at her. It's all her fault because she kept saying that you'd have equipment there. Nice way to play it all like part of the show though. I've yet to have an exerience like that because I've only played around friends and the sort like that. My band and I are currently creating our own stuff, then we probably will start playing around like that. Just because of your story - I'm going to keep my equipment close, lol.

Here's what you do.
get any crappy guitar (Squier will do fine), and shove the headstock up her arse.
Then smash her over the head with it.

.

i find it amazing that, since they "take up more room", they should be alotted more room. What this means is, if you're walking down a hall, obviously the skinny should be made to move. Even if you're on the road, the fat people take up more room

I've played those shows... and trust me if you are a good band, good shows will come to you eventually; don't play those crappy gigs where they supply equipment and treat you like garbage. It's not worth it, trust me.

best thing to do when told amps are provided is bring an amp modeller, so you can go straight to PA if you have to.

best thing is to just organize your own gigs...

my band played 5 shows up until now... 2 at a contest ...(we where 8th out of about 50) 1 in a local pub (pubs the wrong word, but i cant think of a better one) and two we organized on our own.

got ourself 3-4 bands, borrowed amazing equipment (for like 4.000€) rented an old (small) palace, with a gigantic stage (sounds fancier than it is... actually they let us play for like close to nothing...)got ourselfs sponsers to pay for everything, and managed to get a crowd of like about 400-500 people.

hehe. and actually earned some money on it. whoopeee...

@moaner. that really sucks. who was this person in the first place? i assume, you didnt get any money or anything for playing... did you have any cind of contract or anything?

You know, this kind of thing is all too typical. After many years of being told "all the equipment will be provided," and it turns out nothing is there, I always bring everything--just in case!

Glad it all worked out in the end for you.

One gig I played at, my band was supporting two other bands.
Name and shame time,
Grand Moff Tarkin, and someone else.

We were told to jsut bring instruments, and being the drummer I brought my snare, pedal, cymbals and sticks.

Grand Moff Dilweed never turned up, so here are The Flying Penguins, sitting on a newly painted stage, a promoter sitting on a crate of beer trying to get a hold of the bands that were supposed to play and bring the backline.

They didn't turn up.

Then the venue decided that we obviously had space in our *** for another **** so they announced that today they became an over 18's venue only.
Oh, well thanks for informing the promoter of that before hand.

So our gig consisted of playing to 10 people with ID/who we snuck up the fire escape external stairway, with amps that had to be hastily rented by the promoter, however, I was missing some hardware.

A stool.
A hi-at clutch, and a second cymbal stand.
Floor tom legs.
(oh and toms that I could adjust and move but that doesn't count)

So I had to improvise, remember the beer crate in the story?
Stool.

I used the top hi-hat on the stand and used it as a small ride/crash, and mounted my 14" crash on the remaining stand, leaving the bassdrum on the floor for that nice COMPLETELY ****ING muted sound.

All in all, it was rather punk rawk.

Moral of the story?
Don't rely on Grand Big Muff's to turn up at all.

Yeah i know dude, its really funny, cause i do stand up comedy around town, and she came to one of our comedy nights drunk as all hell, and proceeded to heckle. Well this was the same night i saw my mate pull out about 10 minutes of the best heckler lines i have ever heard, and just totally embarrass her in front of everyone! Which was funny considering she is clearly used to been in control of everything :p Then after the show she attempted to make herself look good again by coming up and chatting to us and trying to make it look like she was in on the whole f*cking thing or something, to which we replied "What the hell are you doing here?" and she walked off embarrassed  It was a truly satisfying moment in life.

Anyway, just thought i would tell ya that to cheer ya up a bit :) , now you just need to go prove her wrong!

I just had the best thought, all us guys in Adelaide bands (hopefully i will be in a band round town soon, look out for it) should get shirts made up saying "KATE LARA HATE CLUB: Member #031" or something like that.

Just a thought, I am very tired, so its probly the stupidest idea ever, but who knows :p Let us know what ya rekon, I would definately wear it!
