View Full Version : Still Getting Singing Questions...

It seems like everyone is asking the same questions:
"How do I get more powerful singing?"

"Why do I have a Nasal(or other) sound?"

and things such as caring for your voice (what to drink, how to scream correctly), so I figured I'd answer a few(without reading all of Singing 101 so i appologize if these are already in that thread).

But as for more powerful singing, guy's have the most powerful low voices in their chest. This means you want to imagine the sound being produced from the area of your lungs. The easiest way to find your chest voice is to just say the word "HEY" as loud as you can and use as much air as you can. But say it like you're trying to intimidate the hell out of some little kid. That will get you in your chest voice.

For your nasal sounds, the best way to get rid of that is to hold your nose while you sing. If you're feeling your nose vibrate, drop your jaw, open your throat, or raise your soft palate (the part of your mouth where your uvula is).
And just keep changing around until your nose no longer vibrates.

As for caring for your voice, screaming(even singing) is going to kill it after a while no matter what you do. But to hopefully prolong your voice, WATER. When you're singing you need to keep your vocal chords lubricated. The way singing works, your vocal chords are hitting each other, and without a barrier of liquid, it's going to get irritated just like anything else. For those of you asking what to drink/ eat before screaming, you either want something to protect your throat(i.e. water) or something to add to the crunchy phlemy sound. So my personal recommendatino would be either milk, orange juice, or skittles(they give you RIDICULOUS amounts of phlem).

So hopefull this helped, and maybe these same questions will start getting answered, because the world always needs better singers...
