From what I've seen from this years Canadian team, they're unstoppable!

Canada is too stacked. Crosby is the best forward in the tournament, and Phaneuf is amazing. The only place Canada might be weak is in net, but they won't give up many shots.

I think we need to pound the americans in the finals to make up for 7 years of no gold, and last year's embarassment.

Canada won again tonight .

At least we're good at something, right?

BTW, I love how I say "we" when Canada wins, as if I had something to do with it. Ah well.

Fans are a part of the team too :D

The russians were very cocky towards the americans, after Ovechkin and Malkin get smacked around by Weber and Phaneuf they won't be so cocky.

Ovechkin is a HUGE sook anyway. and he hasn't changes in the past 2 years at all.

I saw him play when the world Juniors came to Halifax/Sydney* and he didn't impress me at all. I didn't find him to be a decent player in the least, he's a whiner and a crybaby.

that muych is obvious from watching tonight's game.

*The Russian team was in the pool that played in sydney, the city where I live

Well, I believe Canada out scored their opponents 41-6 during the tournament. Possibly the best junior team ever. Carter, Pheneuf, Richards and Geztlaf were all steller.

I like how after the game Ovechkin was crying like a ten year old figure skating girl who fell down.

Take away Richards and add the line of Crosby, Stills Nash, and Young. Oh wait, crosby bergeron and perry. Those guys scored at an astounding rate. That could have been one of the best junior teams ever, but I doubt it as the goaltending was weak.

Complete owning, i've never seen such a dominant game. Ovechkin better get his **** together if he plans to play in the NHL.

He's probobly one of the most skilled hockey prospects around, and skill has it's place. However, it doesn't do you much good when the other team just kicks the crap out of you. There wasn't much he could do without any enforcers on his team.

w00t!

:chug:

The only thing I didn't love about Canada's victory is that they were often borderline dirty. As someone who played contact hockey, I understand how hitting hard at every opportunity is the best way to make a team think twice about chasing after a loose puck, or trying a fancy deke, but sometimes they went overboard. Just because it's legal doesn't mean it should be done.

But yeah. We dominated anyway :D.

Yeah, but it's a gold medal game. You don't let up, no matter how assured the win is. It would be pretty insulting to the other team too if you didn't giv'er.

It's true, remember what happened in the last few years wehre Canada was leading going into the third period and then they fell apart.

Yeah, and it helps soothe my conscious to tell myself the Russian team was a bunch of twats, but they even did it against Slovakia... c'mon. Them clobbering Slovakia was like a Midget AAA team taking on some foreign exchange kids from Nairobi who had never skated before.

That post is stupid. Why should they not have hit the russians? Did you see all the stickwork the Russians were doing? Is that not exponentially more cheap then the clean bodychecks the Canadians were dishing out?

the european teams are known for finesse, canada and the u.s. are more known for strength, its two completely different styles of play

Why would you bring back a thread this old to say something that stupid? The only possible excuse is that you are a stegosaurus who has magically been brought back to life and can type.
