Mario....why the hype?

Whats so great about mario? I didnt really enjoy the game that much, i found it kind of hard and annyoing, so i just yelled at my snes for awhile. Well anywhp, why do U like mario so much? (i was just kind of puzzled because some people are like "MARI0 RAWKS l337 so c00l, blah blah blah" and it turns out i know alot more abouit mario than them.)

I can understand why some poeple might like it, i even admit to liking it sometimes, but its like a lot of people are starting to say "insert what i said in parenthesis" just to be cool and all.

Mario games are classic, they invented platforming, and every single game out there involving Mario in some form is fun to play, and can be quite challenging.

Wasn't Mario Time Machine and that "Where's Mario" or something -game just use of the mario license by another company? If that was the case, thats probably why they were so bad. Look at the Philips zelda games, they were so bad and nintendo had nothing to do with them(except for lending out the license) :thumb:

Yeah, the worst mario-related game on gamecube were Luigi's mansion(and it's not bad, it's just...uncomprehended, i mean: Resident Evil: Kids version...WTF!!) and Mario is lost in that game, and maybe Wario's world, because they tried to make a platform game, but they forgot what was so great about wario: all the power ups! who doesn't enjoy blasting baddies with some fire?

edit: Yeah i admit to liking super mario and super mario 2, but i dont swear on them. I just wanted to know how did this game get so f*cking popular? oh well........

I like some of them because for me, since i travel alot, is a great way to spend time and its really quick to pass some of the levels and what not. But thats about all the good it does me.

How did it get so popular? It's Nintendo's mascot, dammit.

It's the father of all platform games, and to many gamers the first game or one of the first games they ever played, back in the days of the NES.

Yes....to most older people its fun. But what about to kids nowadays? That have all kinds of crazy games to play like Metal gear, halo, not too mention other "Breakthrough" games. Is mario only fun to older people who had the chance to play it when it first came out? Me personally am not old enought to have had the luck to get a nes or a snes when it first came out along with mario.

because it was THE game when NES came out. compared to alot of games today of course it isnt gonna compete but the mario games on NES, SNES and n64 were all awesome in their time.

B/C its just a great game all around your always challenging yourself to get a higher score than the last one. And its not that hard, but its a great original.

The only bad mario games are ones like mario tennis, and even some of them are very fun to play.

Every Mario platform game ever has been amazingly playable and usually ground breaking, and thats from the dawn of nintendo until now, name another game thats done that ?

And anyone who says nintendo is for kids, is just immature and self concious, they ARE the best games even if they are a bit childish looking.

My favorite Marios are Super Mario Land and Mario 64. They're fun because they have easy controls. Nothing too complicated, and a wide array of villains. A classic tale of boy saves girl always helps.
