After much deliberation, I have come to a possible conclusion in replacing my cymbals. Based on what I have read here and in other forums, observed in music stores and internet sound clips, I have made the following selections:
16" and 18" Sabian aaxplosion crashes
20" Paiste Signature Dry Heavy Ride
14" Zildjian Z custom Dyno beat hats
I imagine the ride and the crashes will work quite well together, but, I am not sure of how the hats will work into this arrangement. I'm not even sure of Dyno beats...my only experience with them are the samples on the zildjian website. Does anyone have any commentary on the above cymbals, and perhaps a hi hat suggestion? And, since I may have money left over, splashes?

Hmm...my HHX groove ride is pretty light, but PERFECTLY light i'd say...it's got a monsterous crash, and it's more open than a lot of rides...you don't have to destroy it to get a great crash sound. Darker than the A customs, though...the ping stands it's ground no matter how much wash builds up...hence the design being a ride for rhythmic music such as funk, but the ping for everything needing ping. If you wanna stay in the A line, I'd go with the A medium or Medium thin....
Maybe this will persuade you :)

Bozzio, lemme say from a guy who was looking into buying a sig crash (I decided otherwise) that the bosphorus gold full crash is the turkish paiste sig. It'll cut through any music, and it's got a great brilliant finish. I decided on the darker agop med. thin, but if you really want the paiste sound with the versatility that it doesn't have, go with the bos golds. Tony from cymbalsonly said pretty much the same thing.
There isn't really much of an equivalent to the sigs in the zildjian or sabian line, truthfully.

I'm looking for a pair of mini hats. I'm thinking either AA 12" Mini, or a Meinl Byzance set of the same size. What type do you think would be be most versatile, while still retaining a nice cutting sound.
Definately, the AA mini hats, John Blackwell uses them and they sound sweet.

Okay, I have a dilemma. I'm upgrading my crappy cymbals (Pearls) that I've had for 4.416 years. I'm looking for a set of hats that have a very tight, articulate, clean, and clear sound when closed, and very bright when open. Washy when slightly open, but not when closed. I have narrowed it down to four.
1. 13" AAX Studio Hats
2. 14" AAX Stage Hats
3. 14" A Custom Hats
4. 13.25" K Custom Hybrid Hats
In that order, I believe.
Any opinions, suggestions?

Recommendations are cool, too.

I used to have the sizzle hats. I traded them in for New Beats. They're pretty good. You cannot stop the sizzle though, when you play them open, it can be pretty overwhelming, but when closed they sound really nice. They're also incredibly loud.

AAX Stage would be good, Zildjian Quick beats would work(they OWN new beats), AAX Fusion might be good, Istanbul Trad Funk hats would definatly work for funk

Buybuybuybuybuybuybuy.
I played one of those at guitar center a few days back, it sounds amazing. It was versatile, as I was playing on a 9 piece DW with the most percussion I've ever seen in my life, and it sounded great with everything.
Definitely go for it man.

im not good with describing cymbals, but im looking for a pair of hats. I want them to be a distinct hi pitched tick when tapping them closed. Not a lose sloshy deep sound like you get with cheaper hats. Hi pitched resonation sound when opened. and a quit sounding click when pressing the pedal. Overall high pitched and very smooth sounding. between 200-400 dollars is my limit. thanks to any help i recieve

What are people thoughts on Paiste's Dark Energy Ride Mark I rides?
I ask as im still after a ride, and love the sound of Abe Laboriel Jr (Paul McCartney's drummer) ride. So at the moment, it is between a 22''Dark Energy Ride Mark I and a 22" K ride.
I play 'poppy' type music, and need a crashable ride, that is dark sounding, with washy and ping.
