So I've heard about it being network ready and whatever, and I was looking on Playstation's site, and the new system does indeed have modem and ethernet connections straight in it.
That's great, but does anyone know if the thing already has the software set up in it? Or what? We bought the adaptor/software to try and hook the current one up online, but it didn't work...and I need to know if I need to buy more software, or whatever, to get the online connection to work with the new one.

I believe you have to buy an external hard disk, which is I think 100$.

You actually can't use the HDD with the new PS2s. It should've come with a network startup disc though (mine did). That's about all you should need, aside from an ethernet cable or adapter.

I haven't bought mine yet, but ok, cool.
Did you have problems setting yours up?

I honestly haven't even set up online yet on it, as I've had no reason to. I didn't have much of a problem on the original PS2, so I'd imagine I shouldn't have any with the new model.

Yeah, well, I couldn't get it to work the first go round with the original PS2, so...
I don't remember why it didn't want to work, so don't ask :p

Hopefully you'll see this, but I just happened to set up the online play on the newer PS2s. I was done within seconds with no problems occurring. The new software for it gives you a few different tools for testing your connection, although there are no demos on the disc like there were on the original launch NAs.

You DONT need the HDD (not that it works with it)
