Did Zack think he'd have a better way to voice his political opinions without one of the biggest Rock bands of our time?
Has anyone heard any "Nightwatchman*" songs? "Until The End" is class.
*Tom Morello alter-ego.
I've heard House Gone Up In Flames. I'm not to sure about Morello's singing, but the song is pretty cool, I like it, quite Dylan-esque.
His singing is really good. I have the Axis of Justice CD and it has some of his songs on it.
all Zack did was voicing his politcal opinions and how corrupt the situation is, but it was Tom who did the action more, having involved on such activities than zack...
but dont get me wrong, i love RATM

Get it off limewire or buy the CD it's a great album.
Tim Commerford is the reason I started playing bass he is'ent the most techincally gifted bassist but he sure can write a good groove and has a brilliant tone. I always wondered why he stopped using his stingray he got such a great tone with the first album using it. To be fair Tim's best bass work on any album he has worked on is evil empire.

Yeah same here, when I first started playing bass I basically learnt the whole RATM catalogue. His basslines are so cool and always suit the song.

From what I've heard, Zack left because he didn't feel the band was taking enough political action as it should. I respect the man and his work, but that excuse seems oddly fishy. R.A.T.M. is why I love politics. I think they touched the minds and souls of many a teenager and young adult.
R.A.T.M. is one of those bands I listen to while doing my homework/playing a video game/working on the computer and I just wish they were back. I miss the funky riffs, the funky vocals, the kickass bass and guitar and drums...
My biology teacher loves Rage and the main thing he hates about Audioslave is how soft Cornell's voice is compared to the rest of the band. He hears the music, gets pumped, and then Cornell starts crooning and he loses it. He just can't get into it.
Give him the self-titled Rage debut, and he becomes quite possibly one of the most kickass teachers in the state.
I thought he left because he was going to jail. Ya know I don't think they ever toured 'Renegades'

03-02-2006, 05:16 AM
This thread just won't die will it?
Zach never went to jail and Renegades was released after the band broke up although they were playing some of the songs on the last tour (How i could just Kill a Man, I'm Housin', Kick out the Jams,) and they were even playing Ghost of Tom Joad on the evil empire tour.
As for why Zach left the band, Tom said recently in Kerrang that the band fell apart during the constant touring and recording, they were increasing in popularity but the inter band connections suffered as a result. Basically, inter band conflict ended the band.

^ bah. I've spent all this time believing that Zack was in jail and when he got releases there would be a massive come back tour. Now my dreams have been shattered:upset:
I like learning RATM songs on bass. I really need to get one soon.
As do I, I can play nearly all of them.
I know all of the first three albums, a few unreleased tracks, and about half of Renegades on bass. :)

I noticed on the audioslave in cuba DVD when they played the RATM songs, chris went off stage (and got changed), and they cut down the songs to just main riff/solos.
Is this because of legal issues and not wanting to pay zack royalties?

Most likely, but I've heard them play Killing in the Name before pretty close to the original.
Chris Cornell is incapable of being as cool as Zack though.

I remember during live 8, they had audioslave play Killing in the name (or bulls on parade, not sure) along with their own songs.
When chris cornell let a guy from the audience sing, the guy sounded more like zack then chris did.

I went to Audioslave concert in Indianapolis, it was ok, the crowd went Super-freaking wild when they played RATM songs, Rage beats Audioslave , they each have different kinds of music,Auidioslave is more rockish when Zach's lyrics are so magical, its so cool how he can come up with this stuff, genious. And how they use the present time issues and stuff in the lyrics, its really cool

Unearthed Live at the Olympic Grand Auditorium last night. Man I forgot how much they kick *** live, people of the sun and Killing in the Name are such great songs to thump out live. I'm still holding out for a RATM reuinion so I could maybe see them at least once live, but chances are slim :(

Well I'd thought I'd get the good 'ol thread going again. It's been a while, not only for this thread but for this whole board. I mean there is rep now.
So I'm really hoping they choose an awesome set list including the rarely played Wake Up. Mainly I'm just excited to see them back together.
Pages back (probably 2 years ago) I had said how my reason in life was to re-unite RAGE. Now I don't have to. I hope that they will do more shows, but make another album? I don't know at this point.
Anyway, great news and its great to see (if there will be any) new faces in here and to see the old crowd again.

I think if they put on a great live show like they use to be able too, and have lots of energy and their hearts are obviously in it again, then I think they should make a new album. If not, then they should probably steer away from the idea.

I bet they'll just do this one show and call it quits. Artists don't tend to regress like that. Rage is over.
There's no way I'll make it down to CA to see them but I'm looking forward to April just to see some bootleg video.

I don't think Tom's Nightwatchman tour would be massive. I hope they see the reaction of the crowd and remember how loved RATM were.

The Nightwatchman thing is ok. I love his guitar work in it but Tom wasn't really meant to be a singer. He's a good songwriter, though.

Rage forking rocks. Ultimate headbanging shite. I just love this stuff. The perfect blending of rapped vocals and hardcore shouting filled with driving rhythm and infectious lead guitars, not to mention the distorted bass basically does a top-notch job of filling in where synthesizers or samplers would usually be used in a rap album.

Well, as massive a fan of RATM I am, there is no way in hell I could get from Western Canada, to any of the US dates. :(
I'm just hoping for a new album or two.
Which will be followed by a second break-up,
resulting in a second Audioslave, with Kurt Cobain
coming back from the dead to do the vocals.
