Now that winter is approaching in the Northern Hemisphere, fields are quickly becoming too hard, muddy, or snowy for all but the most die-hard players to set up games in. What kind of normally outdoor sports do you like to play indoor versions of?
I played a few games of indoor soccer in high school. It's a lot of fun, especially when you're allowed to play off the walls. The ball looks like a giant tennis ball too, and it's just a really fast-paced version of a game most of us Americans find too boring to watch on TV.

that's the amateur version of indoor soccer ;):p:p
i play indoor soccer in a league but on the real fields not in a gym
we use a regular soccer ball and the field is made of turf, there are no boards or any of that
it's just a smaller field that only fits 5 a side instead of 11
we are in first place at the moment :)

Yea indoor turf is the best, unfortunately we only have turf with walls but I can't complain some footy is better than none.
You ever played futsal? I hear it's alot different

It's basically indoor soccer except the ball is a bit smaller and heavier. They play on a indoor basketball court type surface. I've never tried it so I'm not certain on all the rules but that's the concept

Futsal's great. I played in a regional tournament in January of last year. The ball's weighted and smaller so it bounces less on the harder surface, and also makes faster, grounded gameplay. As for regular indoor soccer, I love it just as much and it's great when played on the new artificial grass surface (not astro turf).
Side note: Spain just won the FIFA 2004 Futsal World Cup against Italy 2-1. 'Twas a good game.

Indoor cricket always gets abit of a workout down in Australia. Nothing too major, but it's still good fun.
Indoor soccer is always fun, as is European handball.

I love 5 a side football / indoor football.
It's great fun, the seriousness seems to be taken away and it's great game to play with mates.
Whats in a name?

I played Futsal, if any one watched the world cup this year it was great. I used to play in a leauge, and for state, but I had to give it up this year because I dislocated my knee, but I will be back in it next year.

Is Futsal classic indoor gym stuff?
I hear some pros are paid up to as much as their outfield equals.

Agreed, it's like a showcase for everyones attempts at audacious skills that almost never come off. It's the last game of the season in my teams 5-a-side league at leeds uni tomorrow, looking for a 3rd win in a row. Not bad for a team of geeks :thumb:

I always like playing indoor soccer/football better than outdoors when I was in school. Playing on real grass was nice, but being able to play off walls and such made it a lot more fun IMO.

I'm good at indoor football, crap at outdoor football. Well, I play in goal so I'm useless out on pitch outside as my asthma stops me from running for too long. 4-a-side football is best, it's like 5-a-side, but with 4 players (clever comment++).

I come from england. We play football all year round. We have recently taken to these cage type things where you play 5/6 a side with head height goals...it's cool.
I play indoor, with the turf and a real ball but with boards. We are in second, but will regain our spot in first soon.

Indoor lacrosse is alright, except they don't let you body check too much. The distances are shorter, though, so you don't have to run as much
