Does anybody here work in the gaming industry and/or on mods? Now with Half Life 2 out the mod team I'm working on will be kicking it into high gear, and I was just wondering if any of you guys help make games.
I guess you could call me a 3D Artist. Anybody here play Counter-Strike with custom weapon models? Chances are you have something from me in your models directory.
Here's an example of something I've done:

Its good you asked, I major in video game design.
Whats your email? Maybe we can hook up sometime in the future when were making games. ( I know i'm doing it, because its my major, I will be majoring mainly in art and storyboards though, not actual technicaliities)

Thanks, i will add you to my aim buddy list soon.
I will be (not yet) attending the Tampa Art Institute. I don't know if you keep up with EGM, but its the third in Game Design programs. Its a four year program. But its no programming, its only art and storyboards (something, say, Hideo Kojima would do).
I wanted to attend Full Sail, but I'm terrible at math, and I don't have 60 grand. Full Sail is an excellent school.

Wow.Well it's more of a hobby right now. I was being looked at by Gearbox to do some contract work on Brothers In Arms, but I was talking to their art director and he said they just fired all their contract workers and were going to stick with just people in-house. Seeing as I'm only 16, it can't really be a full time job for me yet.

I made a few CS maps a year or two ago, and they were played by a total of probably under 200 people :upset:. I made a couple of Flash games too, but they don't really count. I'm doing Computing AS level at the moment and hope to go into games programming in the future, but I haven't done any projects recently. I'm starting a platformer soon, with a friend who's doing all the graphics.
Here's a screenshot of one of his rough sketches for the game:

Aren't you impressed though? They have AWESOME facilities. One notable thing though, is that they have Dungeons and Dragons creator teaching there! I thought that was great, it shows how dedicated the school is.

i fell in love with that place when i was there, but when i went there i don't think they were offering BA's, only associates degrees. now they are. i'd like to go there if i every get my life going and make money post-university.
and also, they have some great recording studios.

If you go to their website, they have great videos of games (pun) that the students have made. very impressive. I might really consider going there after Tampa Art Institute, so that I can have an impressive video games portfolio (as to get hired)
