ok guys this is the first song ive posted on here....feel free to critique.
well felt overcoats do nothing in rain,
your veneers have washed off and you dont look the same.
you pounded the table and called it the truth
but now you concede and it's darkened the mood.
dust in the corners and cracks on the door,
no wonder it's died; you dont try anymore.
this is the pain that comes after the story
half-hearted attempts, and you hid it so poorly.
i figured it out, and i wrote it in red.
i circled the words so i wouldnt forget.
you were warm to the touch, but turned out to be ice.
now we'll sit and we'll count every stretch, every lie.
we're keeping score, what's it for?
who's wright who's wrong, we knew all along...
i never asked, you never told, and all of this will kill us both.
ignore our hearts, silence our minds, we'll do what it takes to keep our pride.
as time passes on we will never forget
what we did to each other, and we'll start to regret.
we'll see less importance in winning sick games
we threw it away and we know who to blame.
we've burnt it all down, left the ashes so black
that its so hard to go back and rebuild what we had.
the cracks in our voices will give us away
but its already broken, this is how it will stay.
we'll expose all our flaws in the light from this moon
but it ended too quickly, too sudden, too soon.
i'll fold my hands and youll fall to your knees
but still all we feel is the chill from this breeze.
we're keeping score, what's it for?
who's wright who's wrong, we knew all along...
i never asked, you never told, and all of this will kill us both.
ignore our hearts, silence our minds, we'll do what it takes to keep our pride.
apologies we'll never hear, we're losing it all, it's drawing near.
