Are there any unbiased album reviews? I've only read a few and all they seem to be are fans reviewing their favourite albums or an album by a band they like. No one wants to be persuaded to listen/buy an album by a fan but by more of a neutral. I've read two reviews for very poor bands - Alter Bridge, Simple Plan; trying to make us listen to the albums because the reviewers enjoy them.
If you're going to review an album, review something you have not listened to or an album you have barely listened to. For example, I have some albums that I haven't listened to and some are by bands I haven't even heard of a few months ago, it'd be best if I reviewed them, not albums that I love/like, that would be pointless.
Stop trying to sell your favourite band's worthless album and suck it up.
You act as if there's an objective viewpoint on an art form, which there quite obviously isn't.

Well, You're obviously biased against Alter Bridge and Simple Plan, so that just nullifies your argument right there. What you mean by "biased" is that the reviewer does not agree with you, in which case I will tell YOU to suck it up and deal with the fact that people will represent THEIR opinion and no one else's.

And I think that's game right there.

He's representing his opinion too?

Newsflash, I am not the one writing reviews for bands I like, therefore I am not biased. Once again, I would write reviews about bands/albums I haven't listened to, and that way, there would be no opinion or feeling towards the band/album before reviewing.
You act as if there's an objective viewpoint on an art form, which there quite obviously isn't.
Once again I direct you to this point. THERE CAN BE NO SUCH THING AS BIAS IN MUSIC. EVERYTHING IS SUBJECTIVE.

Are you sure you're the 9th smartest on the site? You deserve higher. :thumb:
Either that, or this guy falls towards infinity.

It's utterly impossible to write a review for something you haven't listened to. If you're talking about an album that you've only just listened to once for the purpose of writing a review, then you would still be biased. It's a really stupid thing to say that "you're not writing reviews for bands that you like, so you're not biased." What would you be doing otherwise? Writing for bands that you hate? Writing for albums you are ambivalent about? You would still be--gasp!--biased by doing so. Reviews are meant to reflect the reviewer's opinion. Everything you have said in your post makes absolutely no sense. You would acquire a feeling after listening, and your review would reflect those feelings. Wanna prove me wrong? Write an unbiased review. It will be useless as a review if you succeed, and if you fail, you're a hypocrite. So just give up. This is a stupid argument with a stupid premise. Thanks for cluttering up a good forum with it.
