Iron Maiden - Fear Of The Dark

Maiden formed in late 70's and released first album in 1980. today they are still one of the biggest bands in metal.

1: be quick or be dead.
good song, not too long, good album opener. 4/5
2: from here to eternity.
the final piece in a series of 4 songs about charlotte the harlot, which began on the s/t album back in 1980. again a 4/5 rating.
3: afraid to shoot strangers.
a song about the gulf war (the first one not the recent one), about how a soldier feels about going into battle. long, slow intro, but at 2.40 (ish) kicks off properly with a great riff. also has some great soloing. 4.7/5
4: Fear is the key.
not one of my favourite songs, not one of the best on the album. 2/5, although some people may like it more than i do
5: childhood's end.
quite good, not one of maiden's best but not bad. not a bad riff, can get annoying though. 3/5
6: wasting love.
a softer side to maiden, slow and quite melodic throughout. good song. 3.5/5
7: the fugitive.
based on the harrison ford film (i guess), quite good. similar to the prisoner (see number of the beast). good lyrics, i quite like the bass line as well. 3.5/5
8: chains of misery.
good rhythm, i quite like it. like childhood's end, it can get annoying. 4/5
9: the apparition.
possibly the worst maiden song ever. 1/5
10: judas be my guide.
great song, one of my favourites on this album. i love it. amazing guitar and vocals. 5/5
11: weekend warrior.
a bit boring for me, although its still a good song. breaks down too often though. 2.5/5
12: fear of the dark.
amazing song from start to finish. starts with a long, slow, chilling intro, then launches into one of maidens classic riffs. it has to be said though that it pales when compared to the live version on rock in rio, but still deserves 5/5
