I got a 200 watt powered mixer. Now I got two 150 watt speakers hooked up to it but I would like to replace them for two 300 watt speakers. I'm just wondering if it is worth it since my mixer is only 200 watt. Will the 300 watts play louder then my 150 watt even though the mixer is weaker then 300 watt?
Also wondering. I would like to buy myself a small mixer and make a tape out from it to the tape in from my powered mixer. Would it work?

Putting bigger wattage speakers onto your mixer can't make it louder. Although if the new speakers would be bigger actual speakers, it would improve the sound.
Does your 200w powered mixer have tape outs and ins? If so, buy a mixer with as many channels as you need, and send the line out into one of the channels in the powered mixer. Then, use the tape outs and ins in the powered mixer as normal.
Aes (or anyone sle), why do mixers need a tape return? Why can't it just send?

Threadstarter: The power from your setup is determinded by the power output of your mixer. Adding on 300 watt speakers will not make you any louder.
Tape ins on mixers are smilar to another input. You can run a signal into these inputs and have it come through into your main mix.
Tape inputs, because they are often RCA conenctors, are handy for connecting up CD players through the PA.
