Internet band?

I don't know if this idea has ever been mentioned, but I thought it would be cool if there was some sorta of system that, say, a guitarist records a song on a guitar and posts it up or something. Other users, if they liked it, would send in accompanying tracks(bass, drums, whatever) and whatnot and then the user could choose which ones he likes and arrange it into a song.

Its probably just another one of those stoned ideas that wouldn't necessarily work out, but for someone like me who has no one to write music with it would be cool.

Yeah it has been done.. not to long ago, I dont think it worked but I was never part of it though so I dont know.

It's not a public system as mentioned in the original post, but works on exactly the same prinicple.

it'll probabily sound kinda bad cuz they'd be using different recording equipment...but pretty good idea
