recording w. minidisc players

hey, i'm using a minidisc player with a mic plugged in to just record a few song ideas. however i cant seem to be able to get these tracks onto my pc. is there an easy way of doing this? cheers

Didn't you get a USB cable with the mini disc player?

yeah i have no problems connecting it as i usually would, just the only way i can access the player on the pc, through a program called sonicstage, wont let me transfer the files, so i was wondering if there was another way to do so...

failing that, is there another way i can record onto my computer without much recording equipment except a mic?

I'm sure there must be a way to transfer files from your mini disk to you computer. I'm not really familiar with mini disk (i'm an ipod man, hehe) but the program you use - 'Sonicstage' - what exactly does that allow you to do?

Surely if it's letting you put music onto mini disk, there must be a function to remove music also??

You can record onto your computer by plugging directly into your soundcard. You might want to look into getting a higher spec soundcard if you plan to do this. For editing/mixing purposes, look into geting a program called 'Cubais'. It's very expensive but I'm sure you'd be able to rip it off Kazaa or something :thumb:

Well the sonicstage program is basically for putting music from my computer onto minidiscs through the player, but it seems to be a little bitchy about transferring the other way - although there is an option to do so, it generally gets pent up about copyright protection etc. so i was wondering if anyone knew if there was another program or method to access the minidisc player from the computer...

I have Acid Pro 4.0, which is basically why i want the recordings on the pc - that shud do the job, right?

Get one of these cables (http://www.minidiscaccess.com/item.html?PRID=725944), Plug one end into the phone output of the minidisc, and then the other end into the back of your pc (mic input e.t.c.) You should then be able to play your minidisc through your pc speakers.
Download Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/).
Press record on audacity, then play the track on your minidisc.
