Is it possible to get a good solid sound out of drums just by ambient mics? I have three mics, probably only using two for the ambient mics in front and maybe the other behind the drummer or for a kick mic to pick up more bass.
O yea, the three mics are vocal mics, if that helps

Don't create double threads. If no one wanted to respond to your first one, they're not likely to respond to your second one, just give it time.

Three dynamic mics? no way you'll enjoy the sound. They are not sensitive enough to really hear what you're playing.
Two condensor mics and a good low freq. mic (a dynamic in a pinch), and then you can start talking about an okay sound. Raising the condensors over the kit, usually aimed at the toms, and you'll get a decent sound. A seperate kick mic is a must tho.
