I haven't heard what Slayer's been doing after the 2004 Ozzfest. Does anybody know when they are going to record and/or tour again?

They're recording right now, and their CD should be released in Feb.

I'm sure they will. That's how they got most of their fame, is just non-stop touring and getting their name and music out there. Plus the past 2 years or so they've been really active with touring. They had Ozzfest, the Download Festival and the Jägermeister Tour.

Yes I agree. I think King's a good guitarist, but not as good as others. Sometimes I tend to over-exaggerate about him being not so good of a guitarist because I think he's an asshole.

Yeah it's a pretty nice amp. A big upgrade from what I used to have (10 watt yamaha). But I know very little about amps, halfstacks, heads that kind of stuff.
Wow, I can now count 2 more festival/tour things Slayers done over the past 2 years: France's Fury Fest and Sweden's Hultsfred Festival. I'm starting to think that even though Kerry thinks that they won't tour anymore when they get to be 60, I think they probably might do one or two. Hopefully Dave, Kerry, Jeff, and Tom would be able to still play really fast and such.
Has anyone heard this drum solo by Dave?

Dave's done a bit of drumming on the side of Slayer. Mainly Grip Inc, aswell as Testament, Fantomas and someone else I can't remember at the moment. He's great on the Testament album, but it's a shame it sucks pretty hard.
Paul was in Forbidden, who are a pretty decent thrash band and also on the latest Exodus album, which is quite brilliant.
I suppose it's quite hard to compare the two. People like Dave in Slayer more, that's all there is to it.

Just preference I guess.. I think is Dave is a legend, no doubt (especially with the things he pulls off in Fantomas), but some of my fav slayer drumming is on albums like Divine.. and Diabolus.. I find his technique a bit more solid and deadly.
It's a bit of a shame he gets so over'-shadowed by Lombardo from Slayer fans.
Very underrated imo

Here in the Antelope Valley (Lancaster, Palmdale and surrounding areas) it's all about hardcore/some emo. There's hardly any real metal except for my bro-in-laws band. His band sounds like a mixture of Pantera/BLS. It's so awesome sounding. If only they could get a great vocalist, they'd get a record deal for sure.
thanx for the uploads, I've got it saved to a zip disk and I'll burn it to a cd once I can make my way to a burner.

Vocals wise yes, basicley they are older stuff was more edgy and newer stuff has more of a punk edge to it. Since tom's vocals aren't as strong as they used to be...it's changed. But you gotta hand it to the guys, seriousley they have been making music since 1983 and have never IMO made actually a bad album, each on carried something new, more grotesque, and have never let any one down.

Does anyone really have any idea what fuels Kerry's disliking of Christianity? I know that Tom said that all that 666 stuff on the Show No Mercy album, and them talking about demons killing angels were to get them noticed, Tom says he believes in an "all-loving God" and Jeff is a Jew so I can see why he doesn't care about singing songs like "Jesus Saves". I think its just ego, being a ignorant dick and laughing in the face of christianity. Maybe it's the idea of that he can. I think it's mostly Kerry's solo's that ruin the songs all he does is play really fast scales down all the strings with one exception the solo in War Ensemble that's my 3rd favourite Slayer solo behind Jeff's Seasons in the Abyss one and Kerry/Jeff's dual in Angel of Death.

Wrong. Kerry is the more melodic solo player, while Jeff just hits random frets. Which is why it makes no difference when they play it live, when Jeff just plays the scale really fast. Apart from in songs with slower solos like Dead Skin Mask, Jeff hardly ever plays the solos live like they are on CD, he just plays a scale or two.

I totally think you have it the other way around. Listen to the second solo in The Antichrist or the first solo in Dittohead (though Kerry King wrote all the riffs and solos to Dittohead).
And what are you talking about Jeff hardly playing solos live, when I saw Slayer, they both traded off and played just about an equal amount depending on how many solos were in the song.

They each have different thing to them, Jeff does many more solos when Kerry does Fill in solos, like south of heaven, its "techniqually" a solo but It's more of a fill in. But Kerry does not measure up to Jeff...at all. Kerry lays on the whammy bar to much, I'm not saying it's stupid but a lot of times he does it's not needed.

As far as getting Lombardo back goes, I don't think it will do any good. The main reason(s) I didn't like the past 3 Slayer albums is because of...
1. Toms increasingly annoying distorted/crap shouting voice.
2. Kerry Kings attempt at turning the band into Slipknot.

And, I've never been a real fan of punk. And when one of my punker friends showed me some of the songs of UA I couldn't believe what I was hearing. But that's just me.

Probably cause it was ravenous during the late 70's and most likely inspired a lot of the early Slayer work. That and the NWOBHM.
