It will most difinitely rule. They also have another song called, "**** Metallica" which uses their song titles... Hopefully this song will blow away the Metallica one.
On a positive note on Slayer, Haunting the Chapel still rules.
Yea, its pretty good but its only 4 songs. I've heard people say that its better than Reign in Blood which is very untrue.

Quality over quantity.
Indeed. I find Reign extremely overrated. It's ok, but not this landbreaking album, and HTC is just ****ing awesome.

I just got Slayer's newest CD. Overall I'ld give it a 7/10. It still sucks but it's a big improvement from past CDs. I hope this shows Kerry that he needs Dave Lombardo.

It's funny how the two bands that they're criticizing are two of your favorites, and yet, you are such a loyal fan, heh.

Just found out a local band, PC Deathsquad is writing a new song dedicated to Slayer called: "God Hates Your Riffs". I find this funny. When they get it up on their myspace I'll totally post it in here.
What a fitting title for a Slayer tribute song. Apparently Slayer and God are mortal enemies.

I really didn't like the new album. Cult is cool, but all the songs sound bland and generic. Nothing really stood out for me.
I've got a bad feeling that thrash is dying out.

Haven't seen you on here in a long while.
Yes, the new album is pretty bad.
Thrash is pretty much dead except for the underground bands. San Diego has a few good ones. There's quite a bit I hear up in the LA area, but according to FatalEnergy most are poseurs and doing it to be trendy. I'd like to make a thrash band if I had more creativity, I'm more of a, "cover other bands' songs guy".

it's been pretty much dead since 1992. Most of the bands still going from the 80's aren't really great anymore.
As Butcher said, there are these newer "retro Thrash" bands which are somewhat enjoyable, though they tend to be rather bland sometimes. I would rather listen to Pleasure To Kill for the 100th time than hear some band trying to imitate that album.

Yes, the new album is pretty bad.
It's not bad, just a little out of it's time, but Jihad is a pile of crap, pissed myself at that intro
I wish they would do more with the vocals in the studio
Raids is right about the 1992 thing, although there is new thrash around, we don't classify that
Municipal Waste is about the only worthwhile new thrash.
EDIT: Add Horrorscope to that
Benzum
09-08-2006, 09:41 AM
Municipal Waste isn't thrash, it's a crossover band.
There are plenty of decent thrash acts, or at least bands who encorporate thrashy elements into their brand of noise
Apocalyptic Raids

Municipal Waste isn't thrash, it's a crossover band.
Thrash and Crossover are so closely related that in most cases that distinction need not be made.
It depends on the band, really.

Hey Butcher, I was re-reading your sound-off for 'Christ Illusion', and you said its barely better than GHUA and that sh*tfest that was 'Diabolus in Musica' (which is growing on me still, btw)...but you have 'Diabolus' rated higher than 'CI'....

seriously, after seasons they like hit it real hard.. divine interventions was bad in my opinion, and people are saying how god hates us all is a hard and great slayer album, but it really sounds nothing like thrash i once knew, honestly i will not be able to stand it for one second if one guy sings disciple again.
and the knew album, i mean really there riffs seem just to simple by the looks of whats coming (though i liked psychopathy red, but i hated the other tracks). when i defended slayer when critics said there so called talent is simplify same paced thrash drums, just fast strumming the lowest note and occasionally adding a twist, i usually denied and was in bliss in my ignorance. but now, after this... i'm losing hope in my fav thrash band, or perhaps metal band...

Album has its good moments, and some very mediocre ones. Public Display Of Dismemberment was impressive.

Surprisingly, World Painted Blood is a good album. Americon (ITZ ALL BOUT THA MUTHA****IN OIL LOL) and Human Strain are the only two songs that I really can't stand to listen to. Hate Worldwide and the title track aren't as bad as they were as singles for some reason...I can't put my finger on it, but when I listened to the album as a whole, both those songs were elevated from complete sh*t to painfully mediocre.
Best tracks by far are Unit 731, Psychopathy Red, Snuff, and Public Display of Dismemberment (growing to love this one even more). I also really dig Beauty Through Order, and Playing With Dolls is actually pretty interesting to me. Not of this God could've been so much more awesome had they tossed out the middle section.
...and it needs better production.
Meatplow
10-27-2009, 12:14 PM
Yeah those four you mentioned were my favourite, Public Display the only one i've been tempted to put on repeat for the past 20 minutes though.
I really didn't like Playing With Dolls until toward the end, listening to it again I could probably get used to it.

New Slayer is an improvement, if you ask me.
http://image3.examiner.com/images/blog/EXID10472/images/slayer-world_painted_blood.jpg
"World Painted Blood is both a return to form and transition for Slayer. The heavy riffs are back, but the songs are written more like AC/DC would write them. The result is a toe-tapping, fist-pumping, blasphemy-screaming ride through hell on an economy ticket. It's not the progrock-influenced epic style of older Slayer, but it's a quick study and a ripping terror: simple but effective."
- Brett Stevens, Examiner.com (Slayer - World Painted Blood: "Simple but effective" (http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-10472-Houston-Metal-Music-Examiner~y2009m11d7-Slayer--World-Painted-Blood-Simple-but-effective))
Roughly what I think of it. It's not old Slayer, but it's better than anything since Seasons in the Abyss.

I understand this viewpoint. It mirrors mine, except that I think they're trying to make enough cash to retire, and for commercial radio metal, their latest is exceptional.
I will still probably stick to my BLASPHEMY and DEMILICH CDs instead :)
