The Beatles-Free As A Bird (http://s25.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2NE0J2YDAL4122CMN0FG4AL9CG)
Can someone have a look at that and tell me if it's genuine? I'm over 90% certain it's a genuine Beatles song, just wait till the vocals come in,
Can someone tell me which album (if any) this was off?
It's an 'genuine' track, if you want to call it. Yoko Ono gave the Beatles two unfinished Lennon songs so that they could whatever they want it with them. They were Free As A Bird and Real Love. They were included on Anthology.
With some Lennon vocals already in, McCartney, Harrison and Starr overdubbed their parts in. On this song, McCartney puts in "Whatever happened to, the life that we once knew? Can we really live without each other? When did we lose the touch, which seemed to mean so much?"
Harrison added some slide guitar and a splendid solo, and Starr some drumming. It's a pretty good song, and you could really feel that it's an actual Beatle song. I like it.

... And I know the solo for Something. It's pretty easy. In fact, I played it with my band, dedicated it to my ex-gf and that's how we got together. Pretty good.

*bumpity*
Ok, I mananged to wrangle a microphone for the weekend, and I should be getting my good computer back, and I think we could pull of "Something" Slowhand could do guitar, Deus keys, me on bass, no strings and a drummer TBA
I also have 8 Days a Week down after preforming it a few times, it would be extremely easy to do. Another thought for a simple 4-instrument tune; All My Loving
It seems that most of the others have effects/equipment/instruments/orchestras that we (most likely) don't have
Deus suggested a Harrisong, and I think Old Brown Shoe would be magnificent
Once I get the equipment I will post 8 Days, All My Loving and Something, unless someone think we should try something else, any suggestions?

Hello everybody, I'm unsure if anyone has posted this yet but...
At 2:54 in Hey Jude if you listen very closely you can hear John say O ****ing Hell in the background, this is because that he missed his vocal part and everyone else hit it.

Martin was never really ditched in the true sense. When they created Apple, after the death of Brian Epstein, Alan Klein was brought in to run Apple. He looked good in the beginning on paper, but proved to be the wrong choice for managing. I think he brought Spector on board.

What happened to George Martin was this. The Beatles started the whole Get Back thing (later renamed Let it Be). The plan was that it would be a live album, so even though Martin was the supervising producer, John told him that 'none of your production rubbish' was needed.
Anyways, after it all was finished, the Beatles and George Martin all turned their complete attention to a new album, which would become Abbey Road. The Beatles then asked Glyn Johns to compile an album for the film, but the album was then rejected after being given several release dates (this is the one called Get Back).
Then came in Phil Spector, took the recordings, added Accross the Universe and I Me Mine to the album, because the Beatles can be seen playing this songs during the sessions. And that's how it all happened.
And Woodstock, it would be great if you could. I have that pic in two books, but none of them are good enough for a scan, or at least not for what I wanted it for. =D

The simplest way I know how is to get a little microphone (should be less than 10$ at Radio Shack, little Piece of crap thing), plug it intp the mic jack, and then record of Windows Sound Recorder (Start>accesories>entertainment)
Then I am guessing if you save it and we sent it to the right people, they could put them on the same track. If I get a new computer its going to be so tricked out with recording software *dreams*

It's actually a French Horn. Paul McCartney hummed the solo he wanted for the song to his producer and he transcribed it. But when the hornist looked at it, the extremely high note at the end of the solo was technically impossible to hit on the instrument. Some how, he managed to play it though.

(I also listened to the White Album on my trip and like all the songs on Disc 1, now I have to listen to disc 2)

I find it to be McCartney's best love song, ever. It's so short, and it's so perfect. I love it. It's my current theme song. =D

I don't think Beatles For Sale sucked...I like it more than With the Beatles and Please Please Me anyway.

We should do something similar to that except with the Beatles...

Yes, I'm seeing Paul McCartney in Portland.
Yes, I've seen Beatlemania twice, they were alright....they duplicated the songs excellently but they didn't have a great live sound. We were in an arena that was like 1/4 full, and their sound system was so bad to fill up that space. The second time they played with the Oregon Symphony, but in order to hear the symphony they had to turn everything way down, and it was hard to hear anything really above the strings and such.

Help! Is usually lumped in with their poppier days, but I really like it. It even dips into the bluegrass a little. It is the perfect segway into the rather gradual change from Beatles for Sale-era to Revolver-era

I love Help. It's a really short album though. They mastered pop with Help. Definitely get Rubber Soul. It was the first Beatles cd I got, so it has special significance. Norwegian Wood and In My Life are two of Lennon's masterpieces. It's kind of a bridge between Help and Revolver. So I went to four stores looking for these cd's. The first two didn't have any of them, the third had Rubber Soul and Help!, but they were both $19 (no thank you), and I found Rubber Soul for $17 at the fourth. I was hesitant to pay that much, considering how the first two stores I stopped at sell cd's for $12, but I wasn't about to leave with nothing.
In the end, I ended up with Rubber Soul, and no Help! or Let It Be.
AND, yesterday my internet was out, so I was reading that Sgt. Pepper book all day, and I finished it. It really was an amazing book, what they did with some of the songs was way ahead of their time, George Martin was a genius. I suggest everyone read it.

And to whomever said the Beatles movies sucked, shame on you. A Hard Day's Night is considered one of the greatest films ever made. Help is pretty funny (its fricken hilarious if you're a James Bond fan like myself). Yellow Submarine is classic (my favorite movie). The MMT is hilarious. It's so pointless that it's funny. Help is my favorite movie though. And Rubber Soul is a lot better than Help and Let it Be, so you made the right choice IMO.

I love them all, even MMT
DeusExMachina
07-21-2005, 07:48 PM
Isn't MMT just a black and white film of them travelling around the country?
I don't understand why everyone bashes Let It Be.
I really really like that album a lot. :(

I love the first 4 tracks. The only songs I don't like are Maggie May, Dig It, and One After 909 and some are just a matter of having listened to most of the other tracks on Beatles 1(Let It Be, The Long and Winding Rd., Get Back) and getting sick of them. For You Blue and I've Got a Feeling are in the pile I like along with the first 4 tracks.

I love The Beatles
I'm new to the forums.
one of my fav Beatles songs is Ticket to Ride, I like all their stuff not just their early stuff or late. I can some of their songs on guitar, I wish I knew how to play One after 909, the version of the song thats on Anthology CD #1. I don't really care for the version on Let it be.
I can't stand this new music.

and another little fact, the beatles also made movie montages popular. oh and incase you havent seen a beatles movie, they all kinda suck. :D
PS:
no disrespect to the band, because they made great music.
The Beatles movies are all great certainly some of the best movies of the 60's.
A Hard Day's Night is a classic, Help is sooo funny is one of my favorite movies of all time. Yellow Submarine is great, Magical Mystery Tour is so weird and crazy, I love it and I can't understand people who say it's supid. And Let It Be is a great documentary I watch pretty much every week.
And besides this they all have fantastic music.
I think this is one of the things that makes The Beatles the greatest the fact that had great songs and great movies.

Welcome to the forum! You picked a good thread to make your first post in.
I like Let It Be, but I find the production to be just awful. That's why I prefer Let It Be...Naked.
Do any of you have that tab book called Fingerpicking Beatles?

Actually, he had quite a few movies.
The only one I saw was Blue Hawaii or something like that.
It sucked.

Dozens upon dozens. He was literally forced to make them against his will, and they severly damaged his home life as well as his reputation

Anyways here's a great link I found that has the beatles commenting on every released song in their catalogue. http://www.geocities.com/~beatleboy1/dbsongs.html

Yea, George Harrison did write "Here Comes The Sun", and I didn't read the question right the first time. I thought it asked for my favorite Beatles song, and I couldn't pick that.
My favorite Harrisong is "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" also.
Here Comes The Sun is definitly up there with While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

Love you To is one of my favorites off of Revolver
Seafroggys
07-26-2005, 12:21 AM
Love You Too was cool, but Yellow Submarine was the first album I got and it was on that. Since it was the only album I had for a year, I tended to get sick of some songs, so I've been turned off by Love You Too now for, what is it 4 years already? Geez.
Favorite Harrison song is Here Comes the Sun, or I Want to Tell You. That song is so fricken underrated its not even funny, its the best off of Revolver IMO.

I'm seeing Paul in October, the day after my birthday. It's exciting.
I couldn't possibly rank the Beatles, they're all so awesome.
I heard a cover of I'm Only Sleeping, but I wasn't sure who it was by. Maybe it was the Vines. I didn't like it, however.
I know that I could put ringo last. But it would be hard to rank Paul, George and John,

The sad thing is that so would I, which is terrible because it isn't like Ringo is that awful, he has a great personality even if he wasn't the best songwriter/singer/musician, he was still very likeable
