I'm thinking of buying a SNES on Ebay, and a couple of games like Zelda 3 and Super Mario Kart, but I heard that the battery that some cartridges use to save your game only lasts for about five years. Is this true, and can I replace them?

Hm, if so, I would not know of any way to do so, or get a replacement.

Why not use an emulator and play the stuff on your PC? Works like a charm for me. :)

Well, I was going for some two-player action, but I guess I can just buy a second controller and use ZSNES. I use emulators daily, by the way. Today I've already played Contra, Contra 3, Starfox and Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts. :thumb:

All great games.....If the battery is dead then why dont you just open it up and see what kind of battery you need....thats what I would do...

i bought a whole load of second hand SNES games when i went to japan this summer, and at the time when these games were new, you could send the games to the makers and they'll replace the batteries, but i'm not sure about it now...

by the way, the data in the fire emblem 4 that i bought (second hand) never gets deleted, so you might be able to play those games for a while until the data gets deleted.

Question is, does the battery only get drained when not used? Maybe the stuff get's reloaded while in use in a console?
