A friend of mine claims that this mic we boguht is made for the high impedance input of our PA... Are mics like this made?

yes, mics are high impedance, unless they are the kind that go to the rca cable (w/ an end like an instrument cable). if something hooks up to a regular mic cable, it's high impedance. You can, however, buy adapters to switch between the two.

one of the PAs my band has only has High Z inputs (and 1 line in, we only use it as a poweramp). Could you please tell me what these converters are actually called, and how much they cost?

the converters? you can get them at radio shack. What they basically do is just allow you to plug a mic cable into the 1/4 inch rca jack...they're about $13 USD...just go into a radioshack and ask for something to convert from a high impedance mic jack to a low impedance rca jack, and they'll go get one for you.
