Seriously?

Put a cable from the modem into the WAN port on the router. Put a cable from the router in any port other than uplink and wan into your computer, and repeat that step for the Xbox.

Haha, I didn't realize there are still people around without a single clue about how to use a computer.

People need to tell about how to hook it up wireless. That'd be alot of help.

Question about routers: I have a cable connection...does using a router to hook up to your XBOX and computer at the same time mean that you have to pay an added amount on your cable internet bill?

Also, does getting a router mean anything else for a computer, or does it simply give you a way to divide the connection among the computer and console?

no, because the router will split the connection and issue IP's to each host. For example say your IP is 69.128.12.130, if you had two different computers hooked up to a router, the IP on computer #1 will come up as 192.168.1.101 and the IP on computer #2 will show up as 192.168.1.102

If you didnt understand the other guys post, basically, no. Some providers are against it but there is nothing they can do. It simply divides the connection, it doesnt split it down the center.

If one person is completely full after eating 3 cookies, and another guy is still hungry after eating 3 cookies, and there is still a 7th cookie, itll go to the hungry guy.

If that confused you more, it simply shares the stuff evenly, without cutting it and giving pieces to everyone, its given out as its needed.
