does anyone else get into this kind of stuff or any other game engines?? i've gotten into it alot more due to HL2 and have played around with the engine testing and stuff, i have come to the conclusion that when it all comes down to it

physics > graphics

halo 2 experimented with a physics engine a little it seems, not a good one

half life 2 has the most amazing physics ever, everything from the glasses being broken to the oh so impressive rag doll effect(download the physics tester for that, its fun)

i think all games should focus on that over graphics in my opinion

Yeah physics are very important, especially in things like racing games. The difference between Destruction Derby 1 and 2 was amazing, most of it down to the physics.

The rag doll thing is on Hitman as well, a magazine spelt out their name in dead bodies because they don't disappear.

call of duty physics is tight, the gun action and recoil is perfect. halo 2 is a little week, i dont like the way the bodies fall when you kill them, except for when you kill them with double magnum and they do a backflip. plus the way you run is kind of annoying. still a great game

max payne 2 had awesome rag-doll physics. especially when you shot someone off a ledge and you watch them in slow motion hitting an object along the way, or bounce off the ground. even leaning of a handrail after being shot. good times.

do you mean as in modifying the engine? i used to do that a ton with quake and quake 2. is halflife 2 even out for computer? if it is then i need a new computer. there is no way mine can handle it.
