I'm really wanting to buy a PS2 and I almost made sure of it until I read reviews of the games I wanted to buy. Killzone, the people hated it. Call of Duty, hasn't even come out yet. Medal of Honor series and Red Faction 2, very solid games.
I'm leaning towards PS2 but people urge me to get an XBOX but for what, sports games? only the Halo? I don't think so. So to give this thread a point, I want you guys to help me make a Pros and Cons list of both platforms. Thank you if you can help.

Dude
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is enough to get an Xbox in my opinion. and KOTOR 2: The Sith Wars is coming out in december. Plus there are other great games like Morrowind: Game of the Year and The Chronicles of Riddick.
Alls i'm saying is give the Xbox a chance :)

morrowind: game of the year edition - kiss your life goodbye
gta 3 and vice city
halo 2
plus, most multi-platform games are best on x-box.
i don't mean to push you towards x-box, but there is more than just halo (even though i mentioned halo 2)

PS2, xbox is very over rated on this forum. Seems like your into FPSs and PS2 has the biggest range.

xbox because xbox live rocks way more than ps2 online, and cuz its 4 player, and cuz you can use your cds for soundtracks to games, and cuz it has a harddrive rather than memory cards, and last but not least, cuz of Halo.

I don't like games like Morrowind and Fable. I know sports games for XBOX are really good, but I like FPS a lot. So if this is the case I think I'm leaning towards the side of PS2.

Wth? xbox has the best FPS, medal of honor, halo, soldier of fortune, and you wont get those crappy looking ...(everythings) like on ps2, the only reason i still dust off my ps2 every once in a while is to get it prepped for MGS:3

PS2 has MoH too. I don't give a **** about how great the graphics are unless it effects the gameplay.

Well if the graphics arent top notch, or close to it, then the game chops, and no one likes that.

I havn't seen anything new on Xbox yet, I find the only main difference is Halo. Both have pretty similar titles, but PS2 has the bonus of a wider variety of games. You get all the FPSs (minus Halo, i think we can live without one game) plus a great selection of other genres to back that up.
Anyway he sounds pretty new to gaming, and PS2 is a much more friendly system than Xbox.

Xbox has some niceer features... hard drive, better graphics, better online play..
however, ps2 has the greater range and by far a better controller. Every tried a motorbike driveby or fine helicopter movements on an xbox? Utter arse.

PS2 I like the games alot better and it does have good graphics although xbox's graphics are better. To me, if the game is good, thats more important then the graphics. Also, PS2 has alot of the same games as xbox besides the Halo's and KOTOR just to name a few. Also, I agree with strangerdanger that xbox controllers suck. Also, PS2 has more titles available and if you really want Halo2 or Knights of the old republic, get it for the computer. Thats what i do

KILLZONE is amazing. Don't believe 12 year olds on gaming forums who rag on it. It's not your everyday FPS.

cuz cuz cuz cuz cuz........
Do not mind me. I am a grammar Nazi. :D
Besides the harddrive and Halo, Xbox has really nothing to bring to the table.
Just get ps2, I think xbox is short-lived on a lot of its games (owns xbox).

or every professional writer who gave it a sucky review, yeah, lets forget about them.
anyways, I've owned both an xbox and ps2, twice actually, im very indecisive. Anyways, i was dissappointed with KOTOR, but Ninja Gaiden is probably the best game ive played in years. Of course there are the halo's, fable is supposed to be good. Anyway you put it xbox has some good games.
Ps2 does as well, im just stickin with the box for now.

I have a PS2, but only because I hate the XBox's controller. Other than that, XBox really is better in every way.
Except for the DVD player coming with the PS2, insteading of having to buy the package, but it isn't a very good player.

PS2 has Final Fantasy + SquareEnix games. More than enough reason for me to choose it over Xbox.

right I get ya.
sometimes you gotta dig deeper than the reviews to find some of the really good games. Like I said, Morrowind and The Chronicles of Riddick didn't get that much hype at all, but prove to be extremely amazing games. and Star Wars: KOTOR is just an amazing rpg. Hunter: The Reckoning (not redeemer or wayward that were made by those **** third parties) is a pretty good game.
Whilst xbox doesn't have all those huge titles that ps2 have (exception of halo) right now, they willl pretty soon. Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 are going to be coming to the xbox, because xbox is the only console that can handle them at this point.
btw...wasn't calling you a ps2 fanboy, just stating ps2 does have an EXTREMELY big biased fanbase outside these forums.

I think Halo is the reason people are getting X-boxes i'm no exception.
but the ps2 has got a wider variety of games and you can pick them up pretty cheap(except the brand new ones).
Personally i would (and have) choose the x-box.halo 2 :D

and cuz, and cuz, and cuz, they're near equal, they balance eachother out in terms of titles. And without this competition we wouldn't have the amazing games to play that we do (thank you jebus). So just look through the titles and see which system has the ones that you find most interesting...
and don't forget the gamecube

Why not a gamecube its got great exclusives like Metroid, zelda and f-zero and also games like MOH and 3rd party games which you would like .The gameplay is smooth because it has amazing frame rate and the most fun multiplayer games like mario kart double dash.
