Yeah, that's mostly the Ronnie Scott's setlist, that's on ACOS, and random other songs, that alot of is on the 5YIAL DVD.

How can you quantify emotion? Personally, I think when everyone says, ____ is more emotional, they are really just saying, _____ affects me more and I like them more. I would say almost any musician is trying to express all emotions and ideas through playing, and there's no way to tell who is 'more' of something that is so subjective. imo.

Yes, it's just my opinion. To me, Gilmour and Santana play with tons of emotions. More than anybody else, imo. You make a good point and I do agree with you.

It was great. You'll love the DVD, especially when the orchestra comes out. The set list was almost perfect. I would have prefered Home or Strange Deja Vu for their Scene From a Memory song. Nah man they didn't play Peruvian Skies. Raise The Knife was the only FiF song, despite it not actually being on the album. There wern't too many others to do, because most of the album ('s good songs) has already been done on Live DVD's, so the fans don't really want much repetition. I reckon it was a good choice.

I also think that The Spirit Carries on wasn't the best choice - Home would've been much cooler. Or perhaps Finally Free.

But yeah, pretty good setlist imo. Panic Attack would've been an awesome choice rather than one of the ballads (well, IWBY isn't really a ballad, but it's a lighter song) though.

How could you possibly do that piece justice on a guitar? Oh, and Chopin's concertos are Opus Nos. 11 and 21 :\

Edit:and he didn't compose one in A minor as far as I can tell...

The drums at the end are insane. I love it.

Yep. On the live version, that is, of course. Mind you, the studio version still has some good drums. I LOVE the way Mike's kit is mic'd on SfaM. Absolutely love it. It's an orgasmic sound. And even though at the end of Finally Free he doesn't go too wild (studio), it still sounds great because of his kit.

Awesome kit + awesome mic setup = orgasm x100000.

Or maybe that's just cause I'm a drummer. :P

On the topic of insane drums, how good is the end of Home on Metropolis 2000! Awesome drum bust out, and JP holds that end note really well. Same goes for Octavarium on the Score mp3 teaser (JP holding note).

Oh, I had a dream last night that I was like backstage on the night SCORE was being recorded. Got to see the orchestra and stuff. It was hell weird.
Then for some reason, I was out the front of Radio City (I looked at pics of it last night on the net) and I bought my ticket, went in, and got front seats. DT were about to come on, but there was problems with the stage curtain and it didn't come up, and eventually they cancelled the show and said they'll give us free tickets to another show in November. >_>

Well, on the book, it is as Chopin's Piano Concerto in A minor, Opus No. 2, and Petrucci wrote it like three times. I just looked for that song in my computer and foud that it is named as Etudes Op.10 No.2 in A minor, so I think that you are right and there's a mistake on the book.

I disagree. Rudess is pretty much the epitome of the perfect musician. Moore's music is more interesting but I wouldn't say it's better because Rudess just knows more about music in general. Plus Rudess's solo stuff is pretty badass as well.

Rudess's music is objectively better, whereas more people can enjoy Moore's music in general.

Nah i've heard a few people say that.

Let me guess, you think they are "pretentious"

It has nothing to do with being pretentious. Their music is just plain BORING. It goes nowhere...

I think I'm the only one that thinks Pink Floyd isn't very good. So I win.
No I don't like them either.
They just bore me.

I think DT is one of the few bands who sound as good live as they do in studio. After a lot of let-downs with bands who are awesome in the studio but sound terrible live, this is an awesome find. They're pretty much all-in-all amazing in my opinion.

By the way does anyone have any other audio or video of the DSOTM gig?

Yeah, here's the video of them playing "Time":

I would like to point you in the direction of Images and Words, because Metropolis part 1 is on it, and that, in my opinion, IS what Dream Theater is all about.

If not Images and Words, get Scenes From A Memory.:thumb:

For a starter album, I would recommend Train of Thought. It's enjoyable, and pretty easy to get into.

That would be a pretty cool birthday present, and I think you should go for Images and Words.

Yeah that really true, their performances are practicly flawless and the sound quality is always brilliant.
