When I first heard the name, I thought they were an unimaginative Ozzy Osbourne tribute band.
Well they were supposed to be something like that. I heard their original name was supposed to be Fozzy Osbourne, at least thats what I heard from a friend, true or not, still stupid.
Has anyone ever heard Fozzy? Or Chris Jericho sing? It sucks!
When I first heard Fozzy and "To Kill a Stranger" I didn't think his vocals were to bad, it reminded me a lot of early 80's hair metal or something like that. Their music is alright, but nothing I would buy.

Fozzy were alright at download. Better than some of the awful bands like My Chemical Romance and Funeral for a Friend (not that I was watching them instead of Slayer)

I did not hear if the play was good or not, but it was created and produced by your average joe. I don't think the guy has any theater experience, so I doubt it was great.

"And so your father hid this watch in the only place he could... his ***." God, I love that movie.
Edit:
ghettoeddo: As a DVD its not supposed to be very good, they inter-cut SFAM with these horribly cheesy videos telling the story. I've only seen the footage for Another Day and A Change of Seasons, both of which were fairly poorly filmed. To many close ups, not enough shots of the crowd. Plus the DVD doesn't show the whole concert. Definitely just go with the cd, it won't disappoint.

as a dvd metropolis 2000 is not so good. it's directed by mike portnoy. portnoy = not a good director. the cheesy video clips aren't even the worst part. the split screens and psychadelic effects are what kill it.
the bonus songs are nice though, he left those alone. and labrie's voice is as good as i've ever heard it on learning to live.
shamed-angel
11-20-2005, 12:33 PM
Well you can't recommend any other DVDs if MP is a bad director. Because he directed them all.
eighty d
11-20-2005, 12:37 PM
no. he didn't do a whole lot on the images and words dvd because they didn't have a lot of freedom with the record company at that point. five years in a livetime he did help direct, but at least he had someone keeping him in check, telling him what works and what doesn't. and for budokan he was just the creative director (or something along those lines).
shamed-angel
11-20-2005, 12:40 PM
Which means that he was the guy twelling people what to do with the DVD's. I don't think that it's Mp's fault that LSFAM came out pants camerawise. The cameramen are meant to do that. The director would just make what he can out the the shots he has.

i'm not talking about the camera shots. i find it hard to even notice what the camera shots are when there are four on the screen at once with rainbow colors and DT symbols flashing in the background and mirror images of the shots. in my opinion it is portnoy's fault that LSFNY came out so bad, and they made a good decision not letting him direct budokan.

I think Dream Theater have their moments of amazing melodic strength. Examples of this would be Overture 1928, Erotomania and the guitar solo in Under a Glass Moon. The problem with Dream Theater to me is that they play such a specific style of metal that can easily become laborious listening due to their ambitious composing.

Very true, but in his heyday Cornell still wins. Cornell's voice shouldn't as bad as it is, he's only like 45 or something, which isn't too much older than LaBrie. LaBrie's also a much better live singer.

Everyone be ready to vote for ZP, he da man. I don't rate Mustain as a vocalist, only as a guitarist/frontman. If ZP or Labrie (which they won't) don't win it, I want ol' Brucey baby to win. You can't beat a bit of Maiden.

JLB is currently in 2nd place comfortably in his poll.
And Zakk Wyle has a grand total of 1 vote, which I thought was a little generous personally.
I hope Freddie Mercury wins, his voice is just incredible.

Ya think MJK will win?
I really hope not, I think he's really underrated. I mean, he can hold a note for upwards of 30 seconds, but I really don't like the way he sounds. I just don't get Tool in general. My top ten would go something like this:
1. Ian Gillan
2. Freddie Mercury
3. Roger Daltrey
4. Bruce Dickinson
5. David Bowie
6. Chris Cornell
7. Jeff Buckly
8. Jim Morrison
9. James LaBrie
10. Jon Anderson
well, I really hate grunge, so the chance of the frontman for Audioslave and Soundgarden getting my vote is slim to none.
Like HeavyRiva said, you should really give Soundgarden andTemple of the Dog a chance. Soundgarden is really more heavy metal than grunge.

Wow, the bootleg is pretty good. I'm listening to the title track right now, and LaBrie is really doing well against Dickinsons amazing vocals.
Quality is excellent, too.

Yeah, I mean holy crap, they do Hallowed Be Thy Name perfectly. "Running loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow YEAAAAAAAAAAAH" and he does the "When the priest comes to read my the last lines..." part and the ending part so well.

This is so much better than Master of Puppets.
Well, not Just DT's performance makes it better...the fact that the original album is a hell of a lot better than a sub-par Metallica album may help, there

I think they have covered Yes's Fragile. I would really like to hear that.
And I can't wait to get hold of the DSOTM performance.
