View Full Version : The Most Depressing Songs
Skelo
11-10-2004, 08:32 PM
I went through a time when I was down and out and I intensified my feelings by listening to depressing music. I was wondering if anyone would like to share some of their "depressing songs." Here are some that I liked:
Nine Inch Nails: Hurt
Smashing Pumpkins: Jellybelly
To Forgive
Galapagos
F*** YOu (An ode to no one)
Soma
(and many more by them)
A Perfect Circle: The Package
The Noose
Radiohead: How to Disappear Completely
Idioteque (Not really depressing, but sounds like he is in anguish, especially when he says "is this really happening"?)
Tool: Sober
Forty-Six and Two
Eulogy
Schism

Whoa... you... you are... whoa... that one... Now I know who I'm going to hell with. See ya there :chug:
Edit: A song that makes me depressed is any Metallica song. It's so depressing to see a band suck that much but they are still loved by millions of idiots. Brings a tear to my eye.

"Since I´ve been loving you" by Led Zeppelin and "Monuments and Melodies" by Incubus are pretty depressive songs, although they´re very beautiful at the same time. The solos are pretty **** cool too, in my opinion.

It's horrible, it's got loads of footage from war, and ends on this shot of a guy with no limbs, no voice, no sight, no hearing with this mask over his face because of burns. You can just faintly hear his thoughts which are 'S.O.S....S.O.S'

Yea i totally agree with Staind being very depressing. I also agree with the fact that I really get depressed if I can relate to the song. Smashing Pumpkins offer a lyric for every situation it seems like, so relating to them is no problem.

Even though APC sound good, I can't listen to them cause they're just, well depressing to me. Same with Tool, Creed's first album "My Own Prison", Metallica, and punk music (depressing because it's glorified pop music).

Yes it is, though they have better. Try Versus The World, Crusher, or Fate Of Norns (though I like Golden Hall better than most of those).
On topic-
Empyrium - The Ensemble Of Silence
Agalloch - In The Shadow Of Our Pale Companion
Godspeed You Black Emperor - East Hastings
Anything off of Sins Of Thy Beloved's Lake Of Sorrow

Katatonia's Dance Of December Souls has some very depressing songs on it. I know they may get more depressive sounding on their newer albums, but I'm a December Souls fanboy and I think that the atmosphere created with the music and Lord Renske's drained, scratchy voice just create such a depressing mood.
