Yea i totally agree with Staind being very depressing. I also agree with the fact that I really get depressed if I can relate to the song. Smashing Pumpkins offer a lyric for every situation it seems like, so relating to them is no problem.

Yes it is, though they have better. Try Versus The World, Crusher, or Fate Of Norns (though I like Golden Hall better than most of those).

Johan is quite an entertaining preformer though. His live vocals are great + his stage presence.

Katatonia's Dance Of December Souls has some very depressing songs on it. I know they may get more depressive sounding on their newer albums, but I'm a December Souls fanboy and I think that the atmosphere created with the music and Lord Renske's drained, scratchy voice just create such a depressing mood.

I'm not sure if this has been said before but I think To Bid you Farewell is really depressing spite how good is that song. Also, Patterns in the Ivy I, from Opeth sounds really depressing you can just feel a sad ambience all around when you listen to it (well at least me). Then, Under the Bridge from RHCP is in there.
