That's what I thought too but you run a normal phone cord into the back of the westell in it's internet port then the 4 other ports are cat5. So right now the home computer and xbox are running off that as is my wireless and we have the most expensive linksys sitting their doing absolutely nothing.

Well yea the Cat5 is the ethernet cable(catagory 5 size), it just uses the phone line to go into one slot than the rest are all ethernet.

One of the reasons players will sometimes encounter the infamous "We're experiencing network problems" message when trying to accept a party invitation is NAT type incompatibility. This unfortunately is one of the ways we ensure good, solid connections and is unavoidable. Below is a somewhat dry explanation of what a NAT type is, but before you lull yourself to sleep � here's a possible solution � it works for us quite often.
If an invitation fails, you can try to get a NAT compatible host or player to start a brand new party then have everyone join him instead. When everyone rejoins this new party they simply have to keep their fingers crossed that a new host can invite the failed invitee successfully. It's annoying, but it's usually for someone who's worth the extra effort.

How do you know who this host will be? In many cases, simply having an excellent connection � a T3 line for example, will often ensure hosting duties and compatibility, but there's no surefire way to know. One other solution, which is less drastic, is to start a custom game and then immediately quit and start again � Halo 2 will always try to find a best-case host, and that may fix the invitation failure by auto selecting a new, better host. We used this method last week because Shishka connects to the internet through a damp newspaper, apparently.

Again, we wish there was a way around this, but it happens at the router level and it happens on other systems and games. The reason we don't identify the host is obvious to anyone who's suffered through other forms of router and modem-related cheating.

NAT is an acronym for "Network Address Translation" and is also known as Network masquerading or IP-masquerading. This is a technique in which the IP addresses of network packets are rewritten as the packets pass through a router or firewall. This technique is used to enable multiple hosts on a network to access the internet using only one IP address. Now, even though routers aren't really supposed to do this, sometimes they do anyway, since it's a very convenient little trick. The problem is that this incompatibility in NAT types causes communication problems between hosts, and that's where the "Network Problems" message is encountered.

We should note that other factors can contribute to this problem, but NAT type is the main culprit.

All in all the Host of the game needs to have high speed internet with a direct (as much as possible) to the modem. Ethernnet carries more information faster then A wireless connection. Therefore the Host with a high speed connection will be best suited to find the fastest NAT, similar to an IP(or atleast thats how they make it sound). With a fast NAT people with high(not extreme) Latency(lag) can play with other players of varing(sp?) latency

When the router interprets the address (NAT is when the router translates an IP) it sends a request to the host, then host then sends a Ping back(basically asking who is connecting). If the ping is not sent back fast enough the host will deny connection.

Edit: when I say host I mean the IP that the host is using.

One thing I just realized that is total ****e in the plot is why Cortana didn't blow In Amber Clad, and subsequently High Charity. Let's see the chain of events as they are going:

Cortana doesn't blow IAC -> Arbiter kills Tartarus/stops Halo 005 from activating -> MC kills Truth/destroys Ark/prevents Ark from operating -> Covenant are left alive -> Flood assume control of High Charity and subordinate vessels -> everybody is ****ed

If she'd have blown IAC, pretty much every main chracter is wiped out, but so are Halo 005 and the Ark.

Anyway, here's a great strategy for one flag CTF on Waterworks. It worked awesome for the party I was in earlier. We were red and it was 0-0 at the last round. One guy takes the banshee and rushes over to their base and drops in the top. He grabs the flag and tosses it right by the window. Three other people get in the Warthog and another guy in the Wraith right behind them. Passenger hops out, grabs the flag and runs for the tunnel. It was awesome, the fighting was over within 30 seconds of the start of the round and after that it was just the time it took to run the flag back. :cool:[/14 in Big Team Battle]

What kind of pussy are you? Of course you camp and spawn kill on games like 1 Flag CTF or Assault. Burial Mounds is the best map to do it, all defense has to do is get both snipers, ghost and rocket launcher. The round is essentially over and the next 3 minutes are full of anal raping fun. Of course then it's hard to find where the other team spawns before they're already dead from another member of your team.

I think Burial Mounds is the only map where assault always spawns in the same place.. usually in other maps if there are enemies where they usually spawn, then they'll spawn over by the defensive base.

Today me and Puma were playing team training(beacuse I don't have XBL). And it was a one flag CTF on Zanzibar, so I just grabbed the shottie and the active camo, walked in the base, and killed them all(the last one had a rocket launcher and turned and fire when I was right next to him, it gave me the kill). Then I just walked in again and grabbed the flag and walked out the front door. I don't think they even tried to stop me.

Goddamnit, Lockout is the ****ing hardest map to win at 1 Flag CTF when you're blue. I've done it plenty of times before, but I was playing with some 13 and 12s against 17s and 16s. We held them the last round for at least 5 minutes in sudden death, but they finally scored it and won because of that ****ing gay as hell dumbass "red wins" bullshit. I probably woulda jumped up to a 16 if we had won too.

I just played the funniest/easiest game of CTF on Zanzibar in Team Training ever. :lol: My team was blue and we won 2-0, but the last round I ran and got their sniper, then jumped on top of the thing which is above where assault's sniper is. I think I got like 10 headshots that round because they kept running straight for the flag in a straight line and stopped moving completely when picking up weapons. :lol: When they finally figured out where I was, they stood in place while trying to shoot at me. Even I can't miss those shots.

Anyways, my last game was on midship, it was against some higher level guys and I wound up with the sword. I started off with a killtacular, then proceeded to get double kills every time they came after me, where I worked my way on up to a rampage. By that time, three of the other teams guys quit because they were so mad, then the final guy quit. I had 25 medals :thumb:

I was playing a 16 player LAN the other day, we were doing pairs on Zanzibar. I was not too happy with the teammate I drew, but I got on with it. We got off to a beasting start, we were winning 17-9. Then we had to quit because another team got booted or something. It sucked *** because I had 10 kills, which was more than any other team. When we started again we didn't do so well, but we came back to win 250-239. Great match.

Halo does lag but not very often. Sometimes you get into a room with an awsomne connection and eeryone has a good time, or you get bogged down with lag and take 7 **** sniper shots at someone and they walk up to you and beat you down with a SMG :angry:

Yesterday me and my friends beat two level 49s who dummy glitched the flag on Zanzibar twice, and one time they couldn't even get the flag for a score. Later, we met two other members of that same clan who stand byed us two games in a row(**** matchmaking). I'm really only posting this for the bbump, and because it proves people with high levels aren't always too good. Here's the game stats. Deeznuts and IronSprtan are in the level 49 clan. Faggots.

*UNADULTERATED BRAGGING AHEAD* Since I've been a 9 on Big Team Battle, I've gotten two Berserkers (20 kills in a row). The first one I ever got at about level 7 was in the turret of a Warthog during a Big Team CTF on Coagulation. The last Berserker I got was in the same situation as the first, but I did not die once during the entire game, and most of my kills were gotten through blowing the snot out of enemy vehicles with a rocket. Got 12 medals, next highest kill count was 7. I've also gotten 21 in a row with a Wraith during a Big Team Assault on Waterworks.*BRAGGING OVER*

X-Box Live is still much better. No lag at all. I just played for about five hours, I led in stats the whole time. Had about a 50% hit percentage each time, that's good stuff. :p

You can be as technical as you like, according to bungie who have the ability to ban people from Halo live, glitch = grabbing flag through walls etc = not cheating. Standby = cheating thus != glitch.
