I played it for about half an hour and then went back to playing the cod 4 beta. Multiplayer could be a blast but the connection issues are a pain, I'm not going to play the campaign again. boring.

Great multiplayer though, they just need to work out some major issues.\

Holy **** me in the ***, this game is insane. I played some co-op on Heroic with a friend of mine, but for the most part our floor was engaged in massive CTF matches with the floor below us. All of the new weapons and vehicles...wow. The action is intense and everything is so much more satisfying in full HD.

Is the elephant the gigantic mobile fortress thingy? I remember three of us were riding around killing for awhile before I ripped off one of the turrets and proceeded to kick more ***. Damn I was a happy spartan.

Has anyone figured out how to unlock custom armor yet? It's driving us crazy over here. I'd love to see what the other types look like.

the last level was mad at the beginning but then it mellowed out

I find the shield (non-bubble) is really useful at points, like in the second or third where you're confronted with 10+ brutes. All I had was a shotgun and there were too many to go charging in, so I threw down the shield right behind a metal object so they couldn't hit the portion that would destroy it.

I have no idea. I've just been playing regular campaign, I didn't know there was scoring.

Yeah when you go to 'campaign' in the main menu and it comes up with the options to start a solo/co-op game you can get to an option to turn scoring on.

I turned it on when I was going through Legendary but I kept getting owned by snipers in the first level so I turned the scoring off (lose points when you die).

uh no its quite easy if you've played any previous games? And with two people it's laughably easy.

The meta-game is indeed scoring. To get the achievements you need to turn competitive scoring on because you can't just combine everyone's points for 15k. Once you have some skulls and turn a few on it's a piece of cake, I've done the first 4 levels and usually have around 50k points at the end. I forget the skull names but the ones I turn on are no radar, enemies throw 2x the number of grenades (insane when there are a ton of grunts!!!), enemies are always at their highest rank and guns carry half the ammo.

Edit: Just got 118k on the first 50k level. Guess they shoulda made it a little more difficult.

Yea. Don't forget to wait for the second message at each, that's when you get it.

And all you have to do is hold onto the skull for a few sec.. if it's a gold skull and achievement will unlock, then save and quit. You have to start from the beginning of the level though.

The exception is the last silver skull (IWOBYD) which you have to finish the level with it but it's only like 1 extra min.

I got it too. The Hayabusa helmet is the most badass of them all. All of them weren't that hard to find. Found them with the guide for speed, but I found a couple of em just on accident. The IWOBYD skull was annoying. I don't know how anyone figured that one out, especially in just three days.

ffs I was going to finish Tsavo Highway on legendary then start getting the skulls but got stuck at one bit for 2 hours and gave up.

10-15 brutes plus a wraith vs me is really gay.

that was the single hardest level for me, along with the first and last

the first was hard because of various snipers, the last was hard because it was near impossible to make a single, penetrative dash up the tower, and tsavo highway was hard because of the sheer numbers and the awkward placing of wraiths

It's so gay there's two of those big covenant guys with those fuel rods and I'm cornered by them and the wraith.

I can get to a point where the only things left alive are those two guys and the wraith, but as soon as I get anywhere near them I explode.

almost every time i've faced a wraith i've driven up to it in a warthog, let it shoot its cannon just to the side of me so i go flying into it, quickly get out, board the wraith, tag it and drive like crazy. It takes timing, but i've been pretty exhilarated doing that over the course of this game. That and smacking up scarabs in about 30 secs.

I remember in 2 when you took one down a crap load of enemies kept coming from the control room bit, but now there's just like 3 brutes.

Also apparently you have to start from the beginning of the level to get the skull. I went through from the nearest checkpoint on normal, no skull, so I thought okay must have to be legendary, no skull ... grrr

Played a game with some friends on Sandtrap last night on Juggernaut mode. Among other things, we set the Juggernaut to move at 300% speed.

Needless to say, it was terrifying having somone inch up next to you while going top speed in a Warthog and then get slammed by a Gravity Hammer.

Played a game with some friends on Sandtrap last night on Juggernaut mode. Among other things, we set the Juggernaut to move at 300% speed.

Needless to say, it was terrifying having somone inch up next to you while going top speed in a Warthog and then get slammed by a Gravity Hammer.
Have you played Ninjanaut? It's the same thing you were doing but the juggernaut also has permanent active camo.

Even while dual wielding the needlers in halo 2, it was still a pain to use the weapon. It was a weapon I used to make fun of people.

Yep.

There was a huge difference between me by myself and me and another person, but my crappy upload speeds and DSL in general could've been the reason for that too.

Someone needs to explain this XP crap to me. Me and my friends are destroying in Team Slayer, and I hit Gunnery Sergeant Rank 2, putting me at 60 total XP, and 16 for the playlist. We win 8 games in a row, and my total XP goes to 68 while my playlist stays at 16. We lose our 9th and everyone loses 1 playlist XP.

yeah, ranks are odd now. my friends and I were winning a lot in slayer, and our party was 7, 11, 19, 27. I was the 27, and I went up to a 32 by time anyone else went up one rank. I dont understand...but I'm not the one complaining.

There's nothing odd about it. XP and individual playlist rank are completely individual (for one thing, you can gain XP in unranked games).

Playlist rank all depends on if you win or lose, how well you did, and what rank the people you won/lost to are compared to your rank. Example: You won't gain many rank points if you pwn people who are ranked lower then you, but if you manage to finish 2nd in a room full of people with a higher number rank, then you'll gain a lot of rank points.

it was close because my teammate sucked, and look at my last 8-9 games or so, i finished in the positive's in all but one and lost just about everyone, getting matched up with shitty players isn't my fault

Finishing in the positives is not a huge achievement man. Theres barely a game that goes buy where I have a + rating in the K/D ratio.

I'm pretty sure you can hit them in the head and they drop. I know I one-shotted them a few times with the carbine actually (I used that gun one time the whole game). If that's what it is aim for 6 o'clock if they were situated on a wall in front of you and they're spikes they launch are faced kinda down. That makes sense to me, but it's probably confusing.

btw, your highest skill is a 14, it's a fair bit harder around 30


and in any case, all i was saying was a 35 kill game when it's 2 on 4 is pretty good, which it is, sure there are better, but zakath had to come douche it up for me

I'd say that is a good feat. Usually If i saw that the other team had lost it's other members, i'd run around in a group of 4 and just take them out with ease. So good ****.

yeah, i had a ton of double kills, they weren't very organized though. I also play a fair amount on ranked when im partied up with my scrubby friends, i really dont care what rank I am, so it goes up and down fairly often

I'd rather have a high rank and play intense games

That's more fun for me rather than demolishing complete scrubs

Plus you get better playing with people better than you.

and the ranking system isn't entirely accurate as it can be easy to rank up if you get on a good team for a little while

For the most part it's just achievements, but you can play competitively on co-op, so whoever has the highest score wins. You can play collectively on co-op as well though which is good.

And for Silver Skulls in Campaign, do you need to carry them to the end of the level, or just pick them up once? It's hard to tell since achievements don't tell you whether or not you get credit for them, only for the Gold ones.

i just save and quit on every skull apart from iwhbyd, where i was right at the end of the level anyway, and cause it was such a cryptic, anomalous skull, i thought i'd play it safe

I think for ranked games everyone in your party has to fit into your team, for social matches you can have a room full of 16 people and play BTB.

When going for bigger kill combos, it's all about the other guys being in the right place at the right time. Every time I've scored an overkill it was because I managed to jump in with a rocket launcher or spartan laser just as 2 or 3 guys were going at it amongst themselves. Then it's just a matter of running into another guy and hoping either you have a big weapon with ammo left or he's already weakened.

I wish I would have gotten the achievements before I started to play and rank up. I got the frenzy achievement with the hammer on lvl 38, but it will be forever until I get the overkill or triple kill with the sword.

it depends. if you see the score as some arbitrary number that means absolutely nothing then I really disagree. I know when I got that killing frenzy achievement while at lvl 38, I actually got extremely giddy and couldn't control myself for a few seconds. I'm sure it wouldn't have been the same had I "cheated" to get it, mind you, but it's the simple fact that achievements really are what you make of it
