Everyone always picks Mario because they favor his games over Sonic, or because Mario seems to be a greater institution in their relationships to video games, or simply because they dismiss Sonic as a product of "x-treme" marketing or whatever. There have been plenty of threads on this topic, though, and I've gone into detail as to how Sonic would completely own Mario if they were to fight each other.

I'd have to go with Sonic, but I think in all the threads about Mario vs Sonic, I've gone with that answer. He's fast and Mario's got a gut...

I voted Mario. Sonic is damn cool but Mario's games are way better.

Sonic's games were very cool to start (1, 2, and 3), but the franchise has gone downhill from there. Mario games tend to be consitently good, and adapted to being 3D better than the Sonic 3D games. 3D Blast was not a good way to bring in the 3D element, and the highlight of the recent Sonic games has been the Sonic Adventure games, which were pretty good. Heroes dropped the ball a little. Super Mario Sunhine and Paper Mario are certainly superior, even Luigi's Mansion to an extent, because it was different.

Sonic - Uber-cool blue hedgehog with an attitude and sense of humor. He takes on proper foes like piggin' great mechs and and big evil fat men who want to over the world. And gets kick *** powers like super spin attack, almost vulgar speeds and supersonic.

sonic was addictive but all the same. mario had more variation. with stuff like mario kart which was great as well as the platform/adventure games. but still i was never a devout fan to either of them. but mario wins in this one i reckon.
