Anyone got console nostalgia, but can't find the ROM? Here's the place to come.

Myself, I'm a bit behind here at uni, but I have a whole bunch of ROMs back at home. Hopefully I'll be able to dig up all my old favourite sites though, and help everyone out :)

My AIM is TheoEccles for anyone who wants to ask me anything, or just talk about some crap.

Go nuts (Hopefully zero will sticky this)

I sound like an idiot asking this but what is a ROM

Eccles
11-08-2004, 04:50 PM
An emulator is a program that allows you to play a console game on your PC. You can get Genesis emulators, SNES emulators, whatever.

A ROM is the game data, so you can get a ROM for Final Fantasy 6, and then load it up on your SNES Emulator, for example.

I have a few roms for SNES and NES hidden on my other computer (Super Mario World, Earthbound, DK world, Mario Kart, Super Mario Bros., and the others I can't remember :p) MSN me at don_mancini@hotmail.com if you want some.

^^That might be an installer or something...to Sk8-whatever not Don

Anywho, I know of tons of good sites to download N64 ROMs...

http://forsiam.com/ - Probably the best of the bunch, the bigger files are in Bittorrent format

I don't remember the exact urls to all of these but-
coolroms
angelroms
emuparadise - you have to sign up...
suprnova.org - duh

Also, you guys might want to watch it when allowing ROM trading and such on the site...people will come in here all the time and spam it looking for ROMs...

Also, for help on emulation and such go to EmuTalk.net

to locate a specific rom for whatever platform you best just type smart with google, as in use strings of words such as "N64" "ROM" "Mario Kart" "Download" etc, just change them to what platform you are after and game

Diseasedcow
11-13-2004, 03:37 PM
^NAT is Network Address Translation, which means that there is something between your PC and the internet making the connection. This device can be either a firewall or a router, and it needs to be properly configured for Azureus to run.

For a firewall, you need to open the ports used by Azureus in TCP. By default from 2.0.6.0 on, it is only port 6881.

For a router, you need to forward the ports used by Azureus in TCP. By default from 2.0.6.0 on, it is only port 6881.

As in, a DOS version?

Always check Zophars domain for anything pertaining to emulators...
If that doesn't work, go to ngemu.com...
If that doesn't work go to emutalk.net...

If you still can't find one, I'll search one out for you. I can't right now though, 'cos my computers going crazy slow...

I gotta get all these bittorrent files done before it's shut down :thumb:

www.emulation.net or http://www.emuscene.com/

Should be all you need to start.

Look for 'SNES9X Custom' and 'Genesis Plus'. Those are the best.

Everyone interested in playing Snes 2 player games:
GET ZSNES!
It has an online feature, so you can play 2 player with someone across the nation. Its soo cool, but a little hoaky. Thats where Znet comes in. Its like an Mirc mod that makes everything alot easier.
I play final fantasy 6(3) all the time with my friend 60 miles away.

(Not advertising, just zealous about Zsnes.)

A PSX rom is a rom for a psx, which is on a disc holding up to 700MBs.
A genesis rom is only a few MBs probally at the most. Psx roms take longer because they are a much larger file.

The roms off that site are all perfect. If the versions of the WWF games from there don't work for you, then none of them will. What emulators and plugins are you using?

Edit: I just downloaded No Mercy and it runs fine in Project 64 1.5 using all default settings and plugins. There are quite a few small graphics glitches in the menus etc with the default graphics plugin, a few of these go away in gl64, and it seems to be perfect with Glide 64. If the controls seem to not work, remember that you mainly use the d-pad instead of the control stick in No Mercy (the control stick is only for taunting and specials).

And if anybody wants a hacked Mario RPG ROM in which all the Mario sprites are wearing sunglasses, email me or PM!

PS I play the regular Mario RPG and the sunglasses hack and both of them have this 'save' problem ... and all my other games (many rpgs + link to the past) all have save slots that work ...

Does anybody know a site for GBA Roms?
Im looking for some Yu-Gi-Oh! ones.

http://www.emulator-zone.com will help also,
http://www.roms4.com/
I think the one I've got almost all ine from is pretty much www.gbaroms.com it has links to loads of sites and I've seen all the Yu-Gi-Oh! games on some.

I've got PSX emulators, no games yet but I have no idea what a BIO file is, where to find it or what to do with it and I keep hearing I need to add to it or something.

Please could someone help me, I've far too many scratched PSX games and would love to see them on my PC.

I got mine PSX emulator to work by reading the read-me and online instructions. i can't really help much more than that as I don't remmber what the steps were. But, follow the advice of the first sentence and you should do fine.

Does anyone know where I can get a Sesame Street game (not sure the name, its not SS ABC though) Its got Count's numbers and Ernie's Magic on it, and the reason I want it is because it was my favorite game growing up, until Super Mario 64 took its place. I gave my NES away to a family whose house burnt down, and lost all their stuff :-(, but I know its being put to a better use now :-). The father said his son plays NES more than he did his old Gamecuber, especially that game. Thanks for your help :-)

I hope it works if you get it, the first time I downloaded this game it worked. The next time I tried to play it all it said was 'save data is corrupt' I've since downloaded other versions and they all do is the same thing and I've never been able to get a copy that plays since.
Best of luck.

Anyone know how where I ca get SWAT 3 for PC? I would buy it at EB Games, but I can't find a copy, preowned or new, at the two I've been to. Haven't tried the third one yet but... it would be easier just to download it.

P.S. I know I can get it free if I preorder SWAT 4, but I checked the sys reqs that SWAT 4 is gonna have, and I can't play it (my computer SUCKS: 256 RAM, 248 with my either my video or sound card (cant remember), AMD Duron processor, 902 MHz, 18 GB hard drive)

Why do emulator sites have lots of ads for hentai? I don't get hentai.

CleverRecords
04-14-2005, 01:05 AM
I think there is a PS2 emulator out there, but you have to alter your BIOS to make it work (I could be wrong).

And the emulator sites have hentai ads cause.... nerds play roms, nerds like anime, nerds like ****. Put them all together, and there you have it.

Here comes judgement day for (a lot of) ROMs.

www.emuparadise.com
www.emulationstation.com

Both are probably the best ROM sites up for now...if you don't find the ROM you are looking for in one site, look in the other. You will probably find it.

Hey everyone, I apologize for not reading through the entire thread, but I have a couple questions about N64 emulators/ROMS.

I went to emuparadise and downloaded the updated ultrahle emulator, but I'm having some issues... how do I get the games to run without the error messages (something about video and controller not being calibrated)?

Thanks to any who help :)

Jom
04-16-2005, 11:24 AM
Actually, never mind about the above question, I figured it out.

My new questions are as follows:

1. Is the shrill chirping sound normal... or can I fix it? It kills my ears.
2. All too often the game will say "[this program] has encountered a problem and needs to close." It seems to happen at the same point of the game, and it's just walking around... everything is smooth and not choppy, I just don't understand why it craps out like that.

Thanks again to anyone who helps.

niobium
04-16-2005, 11:53 AM
i think the emulator you do want is project64... i've never heard of that weird ultrahle or whatever... but you should be a-ok with project 64... here the the link...http://www.pj64.net/iedefault.htm

Jom

Hey, thanks for Project64 niobium, I'll give it a whirl. The one I wound up getting is Mupen64 (that ultrahle thing wasn't working), and the game runs very smoothly, it just chirps a hell of a lot and it crashes at the same point in the game :(

i downloaded ZSNES, and i downloaded some ROMs...how do i out those two together and play the games?

Open up ZSNES, go to Load Game, and then find it on the right side of the screen. Double click.

I can take screen shots if need be... I'll edit them in.

EDIT:

Step 1 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v607/frozeninshadows/MX%20album%20covers/step1znes.jpg)

Step 2 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v607/frozeninshadows/MX%20album%20covers/step2zsnes.jpg)

When I mean "Look for folder here," I mean you look for the folder in which you saved the ROM at.

Hope that has helpful.
