I haven't seen much talk about the UEFA cup in these forums before, so I've decided to make one myself.
Does anyone know why they decided to add a group phase to the UEFA cup this year? Is it a good thing or a bad thing?
And why do teams who aren't good enough for the Champions League get put in the UEFA cup when they get knocked out of it? I think once you're knocked out of one cup, that should be it. You shouldn't get a chance at another european cup that season.
Finally, who will win it this season? Will Newcastle go all the way? Will Middlesbrough shock everyone? Or will it be someone not English?

HAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Please stop now. Anyone else worried by how good middlesborough have been playing? I liked it when they sucked more.
Middlesbrough have always been an underrated side. The signings Mclaren made this season seem to have been spot-on, and maybe now the team can reach its potential. But I don't see them winning the UEFA cup this year.
Or Newcastle. They simply have too many problems. And letting Woodgate go was a travesty.

At first i thought letting Woodgate go was a bad idea, but now, I'm not too bothered. He's injured more than he's fit. I think they should've filled the big whole that he left in defense though.
I think Newcastle stand a decent chance in the cup. Should at least get as far as last year.

Personally, I reckon the more gobshtes Newcastle can get rid of, the better. Try letting Dyer and Bowyer go, and Bellamy, and you might have a better chance at success.
As for Middlesborough, I thought signing the two laziest strikers in the Premiership was a REALLY bad idea, but it's working... for now.

the thing is that... there's less pride in winning the UEFA cup... it's like we're the best of the 2nd best...

I agree with you on Dyer, what a ****ing wanker he has turned into, but Bowyer and Bellamy are good players, gob****es or not. We could probably play JJ insead of Bowyer though.
