In basketball there is alot less grabing and wearing of spandex like there is in wrestling

English football, is not harder than wrestling, wrestling may not be the hardest sport in the world (although it is very hard), it is harder than english football, English football is cardio only, you need a mixture of technique and cardio vascular endurance.
For wrestling you need techniques, cardio vascular endurance, and strength, You don't see many wrestlers eating fast food on a week end, but you can catch many footballers.

Don't pull any english football is great crap, because there is not a single football player who could compare to an average wrestlers strength, football is not a harder sport than wrestling. It is much easier by comparision, If you are not good at goal scoring you don't have to go up front, you have a team to support you, in wrestling, It's just you and the other guy, if you can't grapple very well then there isn't anyone else around to help you out.

4th year wrestling, I'm pretty decent for a sophomore and I'll probably be varsity(starting) next year. I play soccer, run track, and played football last year. Wrestling is by far the hardest and most demanding of them all. Mentally you have to push yourself further during practices and matches. Many times during a match you probably just want to quit and let the guy pin you, thats part of the mental difficulty. 6 minutes doesn't sound like a lot but holy **** it is definately more tiring than ANY soccer game, football game, or track meet I have participated in(of course if the other guy offers competition). Not to mention if you try and swallow some saliva you'll throw up from cottonmouth. I don't know any gay kids that wrestling.

anyway, im in my second year of wrestling. our team is three time district champs, so its going to be hard on us this year.

wrestling is by far the most physically and mentally demanding sport i have ever done, and ive played soccer, football, rugby, and baseball. in wrestling, you have to be in such good shape that you can constantly flex every muscle in your body for six minutes straight, and then comes the mental part. countering moves, thinking quickly to beat your opponent to a grap or a throw, its extremely demanding, and anyone who hasnt done it just wouldnt understand.

Most high school fights (because that is how young you are) go to the floor because neither of them can actually punch.
And unless you have trained in a fighting art, you don't know how to punch and knee properly in a fight, and most fights between inexperienced people goes to the ground, and on the ground the wrestler would beat you.

Do you guys cut weight? The reason I'm not wrestling this year is because I hated cutting so much, but if I don't cut then I would get my *** kicked at the heavier weight class. Share you cutting weight stories, if you have them.

I just started wrestling this year (freshman) and anyone that thinks that wrestling isnt hard try it yourself. at our school after practice football players that hit so hard they brake bones on a weekly basis are impressed by the athletism needed to take a guy down and pin him. out of the 30 guys on our team (football) that said they were gonna do wrestling only 5 signed up. just proves wrestling is pretty tough


also i think the double leg takedown is the best way to get someone if not in referees position.

Wrestlers have to do the same, prehaps not as intense, but they put everything they have into those 6 minutes, they train hard, Trust me, being tackled by a guy is nowhere near as painful as a good armbar.

You make the more than foolish assumption that the actual game is the only hard bit of work, As I have stated time and time again, Wrestlers and other combat sport fighters do not have the luxury of drugs, all night benders, binges, fatty diets e.t.c.
We have to keep our bodies in perfect shape, We have to spend so much more time practicing, To us, the bout is not the sport, the sport is our life, We have to live it every day, We cannot sit down after a hard day and eat chocolate, We cannot duck out of training because we are tired, We are constantly preparing every day for the match.
Rugby players train a few times a week, they don't have to watch their diet, We have some rugby lads in my boxing class, the vast majority of them are shrouded in fat, They'd have great difficulty sticking to a diet, waking up at 4am e.t.c.

You once again proved that you have never taken part in wrestling, it is a very challenging and physically demanding sport, more so than rugby, In rugby, you have over an hour of the match, You only put in 60% of your effort otherwise you would tire out.

Wrestling does teach you how to fight dumb****, even if most fights dont go to the ground like you say, because wrestling matches start with both opponents standing up, wrestlers know how to take someone down. Therefore if you were fighting a wrestler, they would be able to take you to the ground whenever he wants dumbass.

I'm 19, graduated high school as a valedictorian, and would be going to just about any college I wanted to in Southern California if I had the money. Right now I'm in a community college and working to go to a larger university. I am also a Marine reservist and was in training for that for almost a full year right out of high school. I am considering going into an officer training program that would lead to me getting a chance to become a fighter or helicopter pilot. I have met people from several different countries and in the last year or so of moving around the country have gained a broader sense of how different people think and live.

You on the other hand have done what? Other than maybe breaking your speed record for wanking off over the cheerleader in your 3rd period class, my guess would be nothing.

No sports more physically demanding? Not marathon runnining? A sport is as challenging and as physically demanding as you make it. You could just be playing a game of shinny or you could be playing top level hockey, but it is still hockey. And wrestling is not the most widely practised sport in the world, soccer is. And if you think wrestlers are the most dedicated you are wrong. Again, you can be as dedicated as you want to any sport, but hockey, football and rugby are typically the most dedicated IMO. The most dedicated in history was probably Bobby Baun, who broke his leg and came back (in the same game) to score the Stanley Cup winning goal in 1967 for Toronto.

If you actually want to know, I got accepted into San Diego State, Fullerton State, San Marcos State, UC Irvine, and UC Riverside, I just didn't have the money to go full-time to any of them. No I mean I met more people, made more friends, and got to do more fun things. This mainly has to do with the fact that when I was a junior I could DRIVE and had a JOB to earn MONEY with. I left wrestling because I got tired of being at school from 9AM until like 5 or 6PM everyday.

And as for me starting a sentence with an and. My guess is you aren’t too intelligent when it comes to using literacy rules. You can start a sentence with an and because it can make the reader more interested in the story or article etc you are writing. The problem with this technique is that people (like yourself) can tend to get carried away with it and start every sentence with an and or but etc, and it can make the story, article etc sound repetitious. My guess is that you are a product of all the under funded schools, where your English teacher is also your, Gym, Art, Science and Music teacher :lol:
