Does anyone else find developers these days tend to go for flashy graphics or poor movie tie-ins rather than actual good games?
I find games have gotten much shorter in favour of making more, better looking games which are bound to sell due to a franchise.
Why can't we have long, original games with OK graphics and a good story??

True. Games are shorter then they use to be. The reason for this is because the majority of casual gamers never finish games! In a recent survey, only hardcore gamers (who play games for over 14 hours a week) finish games.
As for poor story lines... its a quick buck. Some games are not like that. Take a look at the game of the year thread. They are top quality games. Its just a shame that some developers, but mainly publishers, want to make money from **** games.

yeah, video games are getting worse,, what we need is a complete de-evolution to the 16 bit era, get all the snes and genisis systems working again and get new games for them... actually, that'd be awesome if that happened
