Favourite scary bits from scary games

What scary bits are most memorable to you from games?
For me, the cat/body in the locker on Silent Hill 1 shits me up every time, even though I'm expecting it. You'll walk past a locker in the alternate school, and a cat jumps out and scares the hell outta you, then it runs outside and gets kileld by some little nasty thing, then you walk past the next locker and this dead body sort of flies out.
Made me go :eek: "Bloddyhellmotherf**ker!"
The beginning of Silent Hill is good too, with the alley getting darker and darker, then the dead body on barbed wire, and you turn around and there's those goblin thingies with the knives, and you have to just let them kill you...

The zombie sound effects creeped me in out in res 2.

you'd just hear a shuffle and a groan then a zombie would spring out, the lickers sounded awesome too.

The only bit that scared me in a game was in Half Life near the start where there's that big unkillable alien thing with the big long nails round the corner and you know it's there. The reason why no other game has scared me is because I gave up after that and moved on to Monkey Island, Neverwinter Nights and The Sims.

In Eternal Darkness where at one point you save your game and than it just deletes all your files, it didn't scare me in the sense but I started to flip out cause it really had me going cause I was so into the game at that point.

When the flood is first introduced in Halo. First time I saw it, lights out, sound up, about 1am, bymyself.

Eternal Darkness got me... Random head exploading while wandering around the manor lol.. The bath was alittle unexpected too


But the scariest moments are when playing Theif 1 and 2 (3 seems to be but not got far enough yet to know if it has the same feel) when your sneaking back out of the place you just cleaned out and you turn a corner (after peaking around to check all is clear) and a guard walks into you lol.. i get so caught up in the game i makes me jump outa my skin. That and turning a corner into a pack of zombies or those nasty balrogish type things (can't remember name... played it... nearly 3 years ago lol).

No other games/movies have ever scared me since Terminator2 when i was like 10.. that movie didn't agree with me at the begining lol!

I love Theif 2 but I'm so incredibly bad at it and I get so absorbed. I don't think I managed the first level even, I do like hiding in the dark corners and jumping over the rooftops though.

i'd have to say doom 2. after a while of play, it just dulled out. its an old game but it could scare you during its time.

probably things in resident evil. although, doom 1 scared the crap out of me a couple times. i jumped down a ledge and right in front of me was an imp. i unloading into it and it was all good.

resident evil 2 was the first game to really scare me. right from the beginning, when you're standing near a wreck and zombies are walking toward you, i thought it was scenematic, until i almost died, then i panicked and shot wildly. later on in the game when you're exploring some room and a licker jumps through a mirror, i dropped the controller, and screamed kind of high pitched.

eternal darkness had awesome insanity effects. best gamecube game i ever played.

other than that, clocktower was pretty scary, since you're being chased by some huntchback with giant scissors. very creepy.

most recently, i can't forget doom 3. beautiful graphics and haunting audio. i haven't yet dared to play it at night in the dark with audio real loud. it's scary enough as it is.

The zombie in Resident Evil Zero that can stretch his arms is pretty creepy, especially the sounds it makes.
And i almost died in Resident Evil (Cube remake) when I walked through the big door in the small landhouse and this huge spider crawled down the wall just behind me. Took me 3 seconds to collect myself and shoot that bitch with an acid grenade! :cool:
Oh and that small monster in chains is very scary...

The first Ghost scare made me scream. Only because my friend screamed. I would've just went like oh shi.

Doom 3 is pretty freaky at times.

The whole of SIlent Hill 2.....ive never ever got past the apartment at the begging...too scared....but I managed to get really far in SH4..near the end infact...and i thought 4 had a better story....but 2 still scares me....

theres a new game coming out which is a cros between GTA and Resi....looks good...should be scary...

I remember that part, the first time that I saw that I jumped out of my seat. I still to this day brace myself for when that thing jumps through that 2 sided mirror.

Another part that just made me jump was in Metal Gear Solid 2 when you're opening up random lockers on the frigate, you come across one locker with a dead body that just slumps out with some creepy viloin music playing.

Ahhh, Eternal Darkness. What a great game. EVERYONE freaked out about the bath tub scene. I got scared at one part in that game towards the end. When your Alex and you see a blue lady cleaning the floor and when you get close enough, a cutscene comes up and shows a close up of the ladys face and shes all bloody and shes like "I HAVE TO GET THE BLOOD OUT!!!" Then she just disappears. Also, when your out of sanity, and you start hearing the baby crying and the woman crying too-after that you start hearing chopping noises and the lady screams like a banshee. Any game that has sounds of chopping up a baby has to be ****ed up.

Fatal Frame-my god. All of you now, do a search on yahoo or google for Kikia.swf. If you haven't seen it, watch it-NOW.

When i was younger and i got Dino Crisis went it first came out. At that first dinosaur that's chasing you, i ran away from it. Then that bastard jumped over a fence and scared the hell out of me.

Silent Hill 1.

I was in the school library. It is mega dark and of course the Silent Hill music is playing the whole time. I walk into the library, and the radio starts going, so I know something is in that room. I walk over to the bookcases, and my guy points his gun. I dont know why, but I didnt shoot, I waited. Then a little shadow baby comes out right at me and I empty a full magazine into it, then I run for my life out of the library.

When I get out, I check and find that those shadow babies dont hurt you until the next level, which is the evil school. Oh man thats the only specific part from Silent Hill 1 that I still remember.

All the Silent Hill games are just scary, period.

In one of the Resident Evils, me and my friends were playing it and we were in some room with a large mirror, and suddenly one of those weird dogs jumps through and it scared the **** out of all of us

Oh yeah, in Silent Hill 2 I was playing with my friend at night, and we were in some pitch black apartment, and we entered this one room with this little evil girl that had red eyes or something. It scared the hell out of me so after I went back into the hallway I gave my friend the controller.

When you re-explore the mansion in the first Resident Evil game, and it is filled with Hunters. I remembered taking a path through that winding light-green hallway that I didn't normally take. As soon as I turned one of the many corners a Hunter SPRINTED out of nowhere and just started whaling on me. Shit****! It wasn't like the hallway with stairs or the dark green hallway where you could see the Hunters lying in wait from the camera angles. This one was not there... and then it was!

And from Resident Evil 2, let's not forget Mr. X. Scary as hell, and all he did was punch you!

Mr X aka Tyrant 103 is scary. First time I encountered him, you see this thing get dropped through the roof, and I'm like "Oooooook,*gets gun out*", walk round corner, he comes round and is about 8 foot tall, me: "OH CRAP!"
Then when you kill him and go out the room, he gets back up, I was like "oh noes", I never dared to go back in there to see if he was there. I did one day, and he wasn't:(
But for scariness Silent hill beats Resident Evil, Resident evil gives you more of a BOO! scare, while Silent Hill has a scary atmosphere all the way through.
You know what bit I really didn't like in SH1.
When you find Lisa in the level Nowhere, and she starts bleeding from everywhere and like comes after you like "HELP ME!" and you shut the door behind you, you can hear her crying, and this sad music plays.
The end boss is a pushover however, well, Alessa is, I've never fought Samael.

The day I bought Resident Evil 3. I remember it as if it were yesterday.

When you go into the police station, ****in' about the place, and you meet Nemesis again. No biggy, just run into another room. Not it THIS game!!!

Nemesis ****in' barges through the doors and chases you wherever you go! :eek: :(

Oh and yesterday I was gonna get Silent Hill back from my friend, AND HE CAN'T FIND IT!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

The dark alley part at the near start of the game on Silent Hill... just freaked me out when i first played it, ****in crazy scary.

Echo NIght(playstation 1) - its a first person game, there was a part when i opened a door, and a flying white baby ghost went straight at the screen. ****in scary, i stopped playing that game since.

All silent hill games have some creepy scary stuff

In resident evil 2, the parts of the game where the Monster TYRANT(the huge bald head guy on a trechcoat) is chasing you, and whenever you go to the next room... he will just appear quickly on the new room or at some parts he will destroy walls and still chase you.

In resident evil 3, the part where NEMESIS will chase you and sometimes do a long jump/pounce at you... makes my heart beat fast.

On Project Zero, there's a bit wher the Editor's ghost chases you for ages, I killed him, opened a door thinking he's gone, and his face was right in mine, he looked like ":eek:" so did I:(
The man with long arms is scary though, even when you fight him, his arms are like 2 metres long, and it looks weird when he's chasing you.

Eternal Darkness is definatly one of those games, I got it at about Christmas time and played it for about 30 mins. I then didn't have the courage to play it again until about March :upset:
It's just that house, the paintings on the walls in the main room creep me out. And yeah, the bath tub bit got me too.

Onimusha 3, not really a scarey game. But that guy who takes you to the Dark demension thing really freaks me out.

The only remotely scary part of the game is in the Forest Temple with the hand that drops down and grabs you.

The only "scary" game I can think of is Return to Castlewolfenstein. The level where your in the nazi lab in Norway and theres this part where the shocking monsters throw this guy into the glass window right next to you, made me jump right out of my seat.

Playing it at 2am in the dark, and having a ghost coming after you crying "My eyes, I can't see" makes you go ":eek:................:amaze: awesome, why are you chasing me then, silly ghost"

In Resident Evil 3, you go past a shop window early on in the game, and you think nothing of it, but when you revisit the place later, these three f***ing dogs jumped out of the window, braking the glass and it scared the **** out of me cause it was so unexpected.

I totally forgot one part in RE2 that scared the crap out of me the first time I ever played it.

When your running down the halls in the police station, the really close together walls that have windows boarded up haphazardly. After like the 2nd time running past, freakin 5 hands shoot out and grab you. I was like "AAAAAAHH@!" and then I'm like wow that was scary, so I started to walk away and then yet again in the next turn it did it again!. I was like "WTF IS THIS GAME TRYING TO PULL ON ME!!!!"
