No, you can't really consider it a sport dude just because it's a very physical act,
there are no teams, you don't play to get points, It's an art form, like a dance but
less fruity. Contests are judged, you showcase yourself like you would a painting
and the skater that makes the best impression "wins" I guess, but I don't like to
associate that word with skateboarding. I mean playing music can be very physical
and what about battle of the bands type things, bands compete against eachother
but you don't see people calling music a sport.

Fair enough point i can see where your going. It is a sport for some people that take part in comps but for me it's a hobbie an expensive one at that. But then the way you look at it then judo or stuff that has someone judging the contestants it's a hobbie by what you say man. Its a sport.

You're saying it's a sport cause people contend in it, but competition doesn't
qualify something as a sport, but if that's how wanna you view it, fine. I don't
like to call it a sport because that puts in the place of football, and soccer and
baseball, I like to look at it more as a form of expression like painting or music,
but I guess both our ways work, I just hope I don't see skateboarding in the
Olympics one of these days..

Anyone done any competitions yet? How did you place?
I've done my local competition the last 4 years in a row and placed first twice and third twice. Also, did an ameture skate contest at a park in Seattle and got 8th in street and 5th in best trick with a kickflip noseslide down the hubba ledge.

Pritty nice man or girl. Hmm dont really skate for compitions. I just like to skate. Put it this way. Four wheels get me places faster than two legs in most cases.
Has anyone ever tried to skate through a crowd. I mean it a "trendy" girl tripped me up and i landed on my *** so i threw my skateboard at her. Ha it was funny. Her boyfriend got pissed if you could call him a boy sounded a bit like a gay retarded woman with a clamp on his dick. Well he came over and started giving abuse so i pushed him out of my road and just skated off. Have a vid of it was funny as hell after me and my friend edited it.

I still skate a little bit. Not as much as I used to though, I got really into my guitar since then. But I can still do alot of tricks like.............
Tre-flip(360 flip)
Fs shove-it
Bs-shove-it
Kickflip
Double flip
Heelflip
Hardflip
J-flip (That's a trick my friend made up)
Fs 180
Bs 180
Half cab flip
Fakie half cab flip
Fakie flip
Fakie shove-it
Switch shove-it
50-50
Nose-slide
Boardslide
Fakie pivot to shove-it
nollie shove-it
And a few more I can't remember.
Those are like all the basic tricks. Man Now that I look at the stuff I can do, I'm gonna go skate today. I got a fastforward board, Grind king trucks, Blind wheels, Red bones bearings, Pecker head riser pads, Black magic grip tape, Silveradoe's hardware, I guess thats it. I've done some pretty big stairsets, I've done 5-stairs, And attempted the dominoes 8-set, (That's the staircase that everybody goes to in my area). I haven't tried it for a while. My friend is a little bit better than me, He's done bigger stuff than me before, But were close to even. I guess that's it. :thumb:

That's cool dude, it's fun to have friends to skate with and you get better
faster too cause you learn off eachother. All my friends quit, only one still
skates and he moved to Venice. Atleast I have the local park.

I use to skate religiously for about four years and then once last summer came around I decided I was done with it and had other things Id rather do and skating just took away time from guitar and the girlfriend and working, etc. Anwyays, in four years I suppose I got pretty good, I got sponsored by the local skateshop and got flowed by C1rca footwear (Chad Muska's company). I was also getting Darkside grip and Shorty's hardware which is pretty much a given if you have a sponsorship with C1rca because Shorty's and Darkside are all tied together through the same distributor.
Anyways, I could do a bunch of pretty cool stuff I guess. I mostly just liked skating street and a decent park if I came across one and I always skated my flatbar which was a little over a foot high to get a trick before I decided to put on anything else. Anyways I suppose a couple of my favourite tricks were frontside flips because they look and feel so sweet and 360 flips and crooked grinds but I think everybody likes those. Also this cool little trick where you do a backside crooked grind and then halfway through it, turn yourself into a backside lipslide, sweet trick. My biggest accomplishments trick wise I think would have been frontside flipping 9, back crooking 9, nollie 360 flips on flat (that took me forever to learn), kickflip back lipsliding park kinked rails, and switch kickflipping 7.
Im thinking I might get back into this upcoming spring though because Ive been itching for it for months now.

Man, don't even let sponsorship cross your mind, it's really not that important. Sure it helps you get along a little easier because you get to save some money but as long as you're having fun skating then that's all that matters. It doesn't matter if you're not as recognized as Andrew Reynolds because skating is not about popularity. It should be just about having fun.

K, heres my little advertisement for the Co. that sponsers my snowboarding club at my uni... but it's not really an advertisement, because man, this thing kicks. Check out www.freebord.com I just got one of these from them 2 days ago and the prez of the club got one too. We have been out both days for hours cause its soooo fun. I was out at 3 in the morning the day I got it, people were coming back from the bars and were like "what the hell is that!?!?!" and people were stopping in thier cars. This thing is snowboarding on the pavement. I mean, it is insane. If you watch the videos on the website you can kinda see it. But if you actually stood on one and just see how it slides under your feet it is insane. you have to use your snowboarding technique to use it properly. I love it. If you are a snowboarder especially and wanna get that boarding feeling off season and have some bucks to blow, you should check this out. It blows my mind. I'm obsessed after 2 days.... I can't even explain how good this is cause im **** with words, but I tried! ha.

Anyway how is eveyone i cant skate alot anymore because i live in northern Ireland and well it rains all the time no stopping. Well i went out for a skate last night and it was reasonably dry but there were leaves on the ground and they were wet so just getting ready to try a kickflip(busted my ankle like a week ago but it seemed alright) either way the deck sliped and i got thrown off yet again busting my ankle on five times as worse. It hurts. But still it was funny.

I just started skating like...5 days ago..so far...all I can do is ollie (while moving:naughty:!)...may sound sucky, but its so much fun. I wish I had started earlier. Right now I'm working on landing a shove-it and grinding a rail thats like 1 1/2 feet off the ground (I've been working on my ollies all day long, and I can get about 2 feet up now).
So, summarized - I suck, but its fun.

At the start you will suck balls but dont worry if you got an ollie in five days you might just do good. Try kickfliping. It only sounds hard but easy enough to get the hang of it once you start learning how to pop shove it. Try on manuals as well pritty easy if you can ballance your weight.
I cant skate right now. Ankle is to sore. Got it stuck under another guys board at rampage in Bangor in Northern Ireland the other day. Sucked. :upset:

I was skating this place with a huge ledge and a bunch of 4-8 sets with a few guys I knew tonight and these two black dudes came up and one was like "so..which one of you skaters bloodied up my 6 year old boy's nose?" and we had no idea what was going on so we were like "huh? this is the first time we've ever been here" and the guy goes "BULL **** I SEE YOU HERE ALL THE TIME!" and then his friend was like "nah nigga I dont think thats them" and they started talking about the time this guy hit the biggest part of the gap and "was spinnin' his board in the air". I had a weird night.

The biggest tricks ive done would be frontside flipping a 7. Kickflipping a 10 (it was a quater pipe the size of a ten). And i just learnt to melon the transfer at our park today (6 foot high, quarter were you launch from and and a bank for the downramp). I can do most flip tricks except hardflips and inward heelflips etc. Im not too good at ledges (can only 50-50, 5-0, noseslide, tailslide, krook (Sometimes)) Btw has anyone got any tips on handrails?

Ok, so i was wondering if anyone has made up any cool tricks, not like ground breaking stuff, just fun stuff to play around with that you havent seen other people do. One trick i like to is just a simple fs 180 pop shuv with a fs 360 body varial, its not big or clever just fun to do.

I could do them man, definately a sweet trick man. I always did them with the same idea in mind as a frontside noseblunts. I always kind of guided and pushed with my back foot and then right when getting out I'd sharply jerk my back foot into whichever way I wanted to get out. (fakie or regular) Keep working at it, it's wicked trick to have in your bag.

actually wouldnt a fakie half cab flip just be a kickflip?
like saying i did not did not do that
a half cap is a fakie frontside 180 , so adding fakie to the word doesnt mean much

My set up is anAtm Blank deck (get all my decks used off friends hehe)
royal trucks
Random assortment of bearings since mine are always sploding
dont know what kinda wheels , cuz i got em a while ago
i used to mainly do oldschool skating such as - primo's , primo kick flips , primo flip back into primo (my record is going ten times back and forth) im really good with manuals , manual'd down this whole hill by my home , the one foots are fun both ways (nose and normal) ,caspers , casper flips and such
i like to skate bowls , i can carve them well , i just dont do many tricks except on the one in a park in my area
now i do more street skating , most stairs ive done was 7 , im trying to find an 8 set , i cant do any tricks down em lol i kickflipped a 4 that's about it
And my flip tricks are : Kick flip , double kickflip ,heel flips (sometimes) , inword heelflips..yeah lol , some hardflips , i have the casper flips , made some stuff up too
the glorious monster

I skate a Chocolate deck that I think used to have a train as a graphic... It's in pretty bad shape i'm hoping for a new one for Chirstmas. I have Venture trucks, Spitfire wheels and some generic bearings.
I used to be a madman on ramps back in the day, but now i'm focusing on flip tricks and stuff like that, which i'm not very good at. I can do heelflips, kickflips, shove-its etc. The hardest fliptrick I can do is a varial heelflip. whooo. I'm ok in bowls, I mostly just carve all day and I can do some pretty cool lip stuff (like that thing where you come up to the lip fakie, kickturn into it, boardslide and then kickturn out) and that's about it.

i can ollie, fs 180, bs 180, bs half cab, switch ollie, nollie, fakie ollie, fs 50-50, fs 5-0, kickflip, heelflip, ollie to manual, manual to ollie, walk the dog a couple of times, boneless, ollie 3 boards, bs boardslide, frontside axle stall, nose stall, k stall, noseslide, and a couple more. i kinda just to flatland all day, i dont have the guts to do stairs or gaps.

Ok, so today i managed to sprain my ankle putting me out for a good while.
It all started of with a good day down at the skate park, i landed everything that i set out to do so i wanted a bit of a challenge. I step up to a 8 ft mini ramp and set out to do a few basic airs. I was getting some decent grabs down so i tried to get some height. Set up for a nice mute grab and get a foot or two of air then touch the board down but my back foot slips off. My whole body lands on my ankle and it just folds over. Now here i am waiting to get back on my board, its gunna be a long winter.

Try them on flat rails first, they're a bit easier that way. Also, make sure you can do frontside noseslides with ease.

as for tricks I can land...I don't know, but I can land this pretty weird trick that I made up. I call it a ghetto flip. You do a half a casper flip, then with your front foot (the one closest to the nose) you do like a front foot impossible thing while doing a 180 at the same time.

I used to skate everyday, all day. Ever since I saw Eric Koston suck so hard at the X-Games, my skating faith has been broken, and I've barely skated since. I do want to get back into it, though.
I'm not the type of skater to go off huge drops or stairs, I like flatground stuff more. Back in my prime, I could triple-kickflip no problem. Before I stopped, I was getting into switch and nollie stuff, and so far I have the switch-kickflip, almost a switch heelflip, and some other stuff.
