Renting/Buying guide

Ever go to your favourite video game store, bent on renting a game, then playing the crap out of it, only to come home, pop it in, and the enemies run into walls, shooting at trees? I have. This is what this thread is about.



Here's how it works:
-Someone can recommend a game, what its about, its benefits, its faults, and who could generally enjoy it.
-Someone asks of a game, and talks to the best of their knowledge what they know about the game, maybe they played the game, maybe they watched a demo of it, maybe they played previous games from the same developer.

This is only the groundwork, and may be a little shifty, but I really think this could work and help people.

I absolutely hate coming home from buying/renting a game and finding out it's utter crap.

Example:

Vietcong: Purple Haze

This game is terrible. Don't rent it, don't even think about it. The enemies run into walls, shoot at trees, while your teammates could be better off in wheelchairs because they have the inability to move 2 feet within 5 seconds. The recoil only makes the game frustrating, as you cant sprint through levels and mow down azns due to the ridiculous amount of recoil. The sounds are okay at best, but that doesn't matter considering how bad this game is.

Maybe some people with a lot of patience could stomach this, but after 5 minutes of it, I put it back in the case, and in my haste, I actually broke the CD. Do not get this, there's much better games out now that are worth a second rent. This isn't worth the first.

Fable:

-RENT THIS
-Average gameplay, like many RPGs.
-Very short, i repeat, rent this... 12 -15 hours only. you finish the game in 4-5 days
-If your a bad guy, it costs a Ton of Cash to buy items and makes being bad not fun
-IF your good or bad you still do the same quests
-Story is nothing great
-Dont waste 50 dollars on this please and if you have, dont deny that it was a waste.

Halo 2

BUY THIS.

+ Fun fast paced action, or amazing sniping in Blood Gulch 2 for all you homo l33t snipers.
+ Vehicles upgraded, new weapons, and old weapons are much better, including the dual wield and the ****ing glowing knife thing!!
+ Easy to play, especially if you played the previous Halo.
+ Wraith is usable.
+ Speed boost.
+ Plasma sword.
- Stupid covenant warthog copy=crap

?=Negative/positive, has benefits and downfalls.

? No infinite grenades, but is alright, considering this makes the game much more strategic. I was a big big fan of infinite grenades in Halo, but the weapons dont suck, so you only really need grenades for vehicles/stealth.
? Jumping really high.
? Vehicles explode, rendering them useless (except as cover), but can stop against pesky noobs.
? Has odd map-making things, so you can't have every vehicle in the game on.
WTF? No new grenade?

Buy this game, if you like shooters, you'll want this. I know the Xbox Live will be worth the money itself, let alone with a full single player game.

Im not sure what it's called, but it controls horribly, hits everything it runs over (including the ground) the weapon on the back is weak, and it only holds 2 people (gunner and driver).

BUY THIS

KILLING ZOMBIES!!!!

Downsides
-------------
Controls are iffy, but you get used to them.
REALLY slow rate of fire
and annoying little monkey things that come at you about 3/4's of your way into disc 1.

If you like having your room closed at night with a slight breeze, completely dark, and with the sound all the way up in your room... prepare to **** yourself playing this game.

First quater of 2005. I'm already counting the days. This is going to be the most awesome start into a gaming year ever 'cause Resident Evil 4 is coming out then, too!

They've got this new feature I saw on the commercial, it had bombs for tennis balls.

It looks pretty brilliant.

The first one had so much playback.

Especially if you played doubles with 3 of your friends.
