Yeah, that guy is immense.

I think my favourite would have to be Sephiroth, but here's some of the rest as well:

I hope not and I seriously doubt it will happen. Everyone loved Aeris, and if she was revived it would do what everyone is afraid of, ruin the story.

it changes the amount of physical damage - eg. Sabin has higher vigour than terra, therefore he will do better damage than her with a normal attack.

even if you have high attack with a good weapon like a crystal sword, you wont do good damage without high vigour (or strenth). you can increase with a hyper wrist (relic), or levelling up with an appropriate summon equiped (eg. bahamut - it gives you +2 vigour for every level up)

God I love FFVI.

I loved the intricate back stories to just about every character. :thumb:

Sabin's Blitz techniques were some of the coolest things to ever grace a FF. That and Cyan's SwordTech ability(Quadra Slam anyone?)

So far FFVI is a very, very cool game. I just left Narshe the second time (after the scenarios and fighting Kefka).

According to my mate, if you bring the desert rose to Aeris' church when she's there as a ghost, and use it in the inventory, Cloud will say: Aeris... I'll never forget you.
That one actually sounds possible. Those rumors were a fun read though.

I really don't know why everybody loves that game so much, I find it utterly boring, and I like just about every SNES rpg ever.
I find FFV to be more amusing than that game.

I recommend Cyan.(probably because hes my fav character)

Reasons for each of those guys...
Cyan - uber powerful
Celes - would be my only magic user (heal is good...)
Shadow - pretty strong, just a cool dude
Do any of them have any story importance at this point?

I can't remember. Out of the three I'd say Celes is more likely to have a story of importance connected with Narshe than Cyan or Shadow (correct me if I'm wrong)

Well, I think almost every FF has been like that(well at least from VII on as far as I can think). I didn't much of FFVII, due to the fact that it's gotta be the worst one(IMO), they've all had something that made you like, wow. I mean, Tifa and her figure, The Alexadrian soldiers in their "Cammi" style outfits from IX, The way some of the summoners dressed in X. It's nothing new, I'm used to it.

I think Square's always tried to put stuff like that to appeal to male gamers (can't get enough of Tifa's figure!), but now it's just getting a little over the top. It seems like FF games are slowly going downhill plotwise, so they have to make up for it somehow.

Morrowind, good god that was a crap system.

I liked the ATB system too, nothing like just waiting for the bar to fill and then BAM, Lionheart. It made for some really nerve-racking battles.

they have a job section In X really , that's just the spheregrid, which enables them to learn each other's abilities. And in x-2 of course, but that was awful.

Well every character always has some kind of difference in battle still. Usually determined by their weapon type or just stats in general. Like you wouldn't use Aeris the same way you use Barret.
And in x-2 of course, but that was awful.
I didn't think it was awful, but it was pretty mediocre. FFT was so great....

FF12's battle will either be good or bad.

it'll be like tales of symphonia style with a little but of the original ff style battling. also, other enemies can join in during the battle.

we'll just have to wait and see.. but at least it'll be better than FFX's system (too slow :angry: )

More action based rather than stratigie based, like the old FF's , you had to think about your next move carfully, with the MMORPG systems its more like an action games fighting

Automatically attacking. I think it'd make a horrible system for a console RPG... I don't even see how it can be done since you'd have to control all the characters at once.

Theres 2 things that I dont like about FF12:

-battle system-come on, i want ATB.
-Vaan-looks like a girl, seriously.

I want another Auron or cloud, or Cecil. Jeez, wtf is going on with Square these days.

They should bring back the FF series into medieval type settings, like the early FF's were. FFIX was pretty cool, but the settings seemed a little too quirky imo(the game rocked though).

Take graphics like FFX or so, and then put it into making a setting like FF6's. :thumb:

What I really want is them to make a new chapter in the Chrono Trigger series.

I think FF6 had the best setting, epecially in the second half. Post apocalypse is my thing. I'd love to see that in a 3D rendered environment. Though it kinda took the FF series away form the mideval style.

I thought FF12 was a mix of modern and medieval. like FF9? At least that's what I interpreted from the site.

They should also remake Xenogears. That was really a solid PS game.

Xenogears would have been much more playable if it was either 2d or 3d. I can't get used to the 2d sprites in a 3d world.

I loved the 2d sprites in the 3d world. It gives the game a novel RPG feel. I also believe that Xenogears story blows away ff7's story line, this is coming from a HUGE FF7 fan too.

I highly doubt that will happen any time soon though, IX was the farewell and tribute to the style of the previous games it was the end of an era.

I thought some of the voice overs in FFX were pretty cool actually but they made tidus sound like a fairy sometimes (you know like when he yells). I dont think they lessen the games playability at all, although they dont really enhance it either.

Well, I read an interview with the guy that does Tidus(name escapes me), but he said half the time, you don't know what's going on so the voices don't seem to resemble the action. Also, he said, many times, they wanted to emulate the Japanesse voice actors, which really doesn't work since we're totally different(though, the actor from Japan does a kick *** Tidus)

Yeah I thought that the voice overs didnt resemble the action at all they were just sort of random I guess. I really hated it when tidus yelled though or when he did that stupid half cry half screaming thing, that was so annoying. I thought auron's voice over was pretty good though.

In the bonus disk with FFX there is an interveiw with the guy who does Tidus's voice, he explains that they actualy did watch the action on some occasions while they did the voice overs

I liked some of the voices mind you

X was not the funnest by a long shot, it had the worst subgame ever (Blitsball) wich just became easy after not too long, and the sphere grid was like a board game...wich isnt what I want in a console game, it has a replay value of about 0, playing through it the second time is like a task rather than a fun activity

IMO 7 is the more fun of the lot, with the amount of subgames and areas that you dotn even have to go to, things like Chocobo breeding/racing all of the golden saucer, and the Materia system IMO was the best

yeah, the worst part of it i think was that you can use EVERYTHING you've learnt, so you have about 10 commands for on character. it would've been better if:

1. there was a limit on the number of abilities you could use in a battle
2. there were seperate grids for each character

In FFX i didn't mind the voice overs for the most part (minus a few scenes..) but I agree with you, I like to imagine what they would sound like, which makes the characters slightly more interesting. And with the usual fantastic musical score in most FF games, you barely notice the lack of voices.

I didn't think it was that bad. The abilities worked the same in this game as the other, as long as you had the MP, you could use them(it's the same in all the others) so I don't see where there's a difference in that.

I do agree with the seperate grid idea, although I did like giving someone else some White Mage spells especially when you didn't the use of Yuna.

I just checked out FFXII...I'm already convinced it will suck horribly. All of the characters look horrible, and the way the battle system is being described makes it seem like it will be a lesser version of FF Tactics.

The plot was good until it became more of a love story with Squall and Rinoa.

The only cool characters I thought were Squall and Irvine...but then Squall...again, ruined by a love story. Selphie and Zell were incredibly annoying and Rinoa was just a persistant @#$!$% that I would love to slap the crap out of.

Which game do you think really deserved a sequel? (Spoilers ahead)

Although I think VI had the best story, it was kinda wrapped up in the end with the whole idea of magic being destroyed, if I remember correctly. VII was left very open but I think it's better that way... People on the FF7 Gamefaq message boards are still discussing their theories on the game and I like that. VIII was also very well wrapped up. It'd be cool to see an FFT sequel done right, but I dont know who the new enemy could be unless they introduce a new enemy which will inevitably suck. X did not deserve the sequel whatsoever. With the Aeons gone, it's not even worth it.

And who's to say they've been going down hill? That's completley subjective. If I liked FFX better than FFVII(hypothitically speaking), who are you to say I'm wrong? It's about personal enjoyment, not general opinion. And of course no one has directly bashed someone(except maybe BitterSeasons's post on the last page*) but there is obviously a big anti-FFX crowd around here, which cramps discussion about the game, unless it's in a negative connotation.

*Which was almost justified, but not quite.

VII was very open at the end... i mean, what did it say, 500 years later? there's a big window of time in there. VIII was wrapped up really well, i wouldn't see any reason for a sequel, as with IX. i think it'd be tough to make a sequel of any of them before VII though, only because of the departure in graphics. They were all sprites... it'd be tough to have to totally redesign the characters... then again it probably takes just as much effort to create new ones. but my vote goes to VII, just because it has the best premise for a sequel. :thumb:

The problem with XI being in the main series is that in a few years you won't even be able to play it because the servers will go offline. It's also a completly different genre from the rest of the series.

You go off to fight Ultemecia in her castle, and have to fight numerous bosses on the way like Tiamat, Trauma, Red Giant etc...

In the final battle you fight Ultemecia and Griever (The 'Ultimate' GF) and combinations of the two.

dont fight seifer on disk 3 UNTIL you are certain that you dont need to visit some cities (eg. Esthar), because you cant go there in disk 4.

all you need to do in disk 4 is fight some witches and Adel, and the Ultimecia castle (which is one of the greatest levels in the game). you can do some of the sidequests too, like getting GFs

The ending is very long, but i thoroughly enjoyed the whole game, enough to replay it over and over. I thought they made it just right.
I'm not going to be pessimistic about FFXII, because i'm sure I will enjoy it like i have with FFX and others before which people have been critical about.

VI is right up there with VII. VI is very simple aompared to the later FF games, so I could never figure out why I liked it so much. Maybe it was the fantastic plot.

I also have yet to finish it. :upset: I get halfway up Kefka's tower and lose interest.

Ouch. I assumed the PLD AF would be hard to get considering the quest to even unlock the job is tough. That sucks dude. But maybe thats a sign of his intelligence. He wont last a second in Dynamis.

Well, if you really want to try it, go ahead and buy it and play for the first month, and that will give you basic ideas about the economy and social interaction, although you'll have to play for a little longer than that to fully grasp the battle system and stuff.

Heh, I've leveled my ranger to 40 and my ninja to 33... they're both so damn expensive.

Only the hat looks stupid. Everything pales in comparison to WHM, NIN, and SAM AF. Those are all real real nice like.

Back when I was around level 40-50 I camped Valkurm Emp to buy both of those, but now it's not even possible. There are constantly atleast 5 gil sellers hunting him, and they can pick out the placeholder and follow him so that they automatically know where he's going to spawn. It's sick and disgusting, and I almost quit the game because SE refuses to do anything about it.

Do you know what I'd really really love? I'd love it if Final Fantasy XII came out and it turned out to be absolutely ****ing brilliant. That would prove all of you pessemists wrong. Questions for those of you who have been on about FFXI:

What do you need? (Besides a PS2 and a copy of the game.)
Where can I get hold of a copy of the game?
Is it worth it?
Will it be worth it once I start Uni in October?

I'd be much higher if I didn't change servers all the **** time. I've had my most recent character on Seraph for about one and a half months and I'm a 29 RDM/WHM rank 3. As soon as I get to 30, I'm going to do the NIN quest and make THF/NIN my main. I plan on getting all my RSE this weekend so I may post pictures after I get that.

edit: Does anybody else find themself pressing ctrl+r when on AIM?

Me too I dont like to have to pay a monthly fee to play my video games especially if the initial cost is pretty high. I like my RPG's on consoles.

Hmm. I would say it's past its high point, about to be anyways. Bot use and outside gil selling have been very big problems for a long time now, but SE is finally cracking down and banning alot of people. Just yesterday they updated the game to disallow some major bugs in the game, which is great/unexpected, because it wasn't scheduled or anything, which they usually do when fixing bugs, and then they take forever to do it.

For some reason, I can't get mine to look that good. I have it on all the highest settings and my water still looks like Jello pudding. It's not my computer either, I can run Half-Life 2 on the highest graphic settings flawlessly and that's a hundred times more demanding for system resources.

Have you seen the game on the PS2 though? That's what I'm comparing it too. Don't forget that this game is almost 3 years old as well.

Yes. The resolution sucks but the animation and graphics are much smoother looking.

All this talk of FFXI makes me feel excluded. My parents don't want me to get it, so I'm going to have to either wait until I'm in college, or just pass on the MMORPG thing.
