The DS remake sports a new Ability system similar to Final Fantasy V, which allow characters in your party to use abilities of members no longer in your party, including Twin Magic, Edward's sing, Yang's Kick and FuSoYa's Regen skill. This system replaces the "party swap" system used in the GBA port.[4] It was also revealed at the Tokyo Game Show 2007 that the game will feature voices for important scenes.

damn i forgot how amazing ffdream was for ff music, im dl'ing one of the orchestra concerts and one of Nobuo's studio albums (Phantasmagoria)..should be interesting.

wow ive only listened to a few tracks off his album so far but its brilliant stuff. its what you'd expect from him really - synth/acoustic/strings, really nice melodies and sometimes a japanese woman speaking in the background, relaxing stuff..can't help but think of final fantasy when listening to it even though its not to do with the games

He's freelance now, he's collaborated with The Black Mages. The new album is set to release sometime next month.

In the 2004 Summer Olympics, the United States synchronized swimming duet of Alison Bartosik and Anna Kozlova won the bronze medal using two of his pieces from Final Fantasy VIII in the second half of their routine. That's freakin epic.

1up.com have a very long interview with Nobuo on their website, I think its it the features section.

Well worth reading.

And for the coins thing in IX, I'm sure there are 13 and I could only ever get 12 even with a walkthrough. Or there are 12 and I only got 11..either way, I was always missing one.

Ninjaedit: mentioning walkthroughs...do you guys play FF games with them or without them?

fingers mccoy
03-01-2008, 09:37 AM
you get 12 then there's one extra which is just back where one of the other ones was, in quan's dwelling adjacent to treno

i think you get the hammer if you give it to that old hoarder lady, which you can either use in synthesis to get the tin armour or keep so that you get an extra scene at the end of the game

never actually seen that scene it's probably something to do with cinna tho

the first time i play through i dont use a walkthrough, sometimes i check to see if there's any cool sidequests i could be doing at a point where the game is obviously encouraging a bit of exploration and farming

that game sucked if you did well in it but was awesome if you were constantly under-prepared, it's weird

like i'm not talking about farming, more having a lot to junction

the novelty of having an auto hasted squall with 100 death st-atk and invulnerability to confuse wears off when you own your 10x10^x battle, but being terrified of random battles and actually having to use gfs is pretty cool

Pop music sucks
03-02-2008, 06:07 AM

The only ones I used were (rarely) Hades, Bahamut Zero and KOR. the only FF where i used summons a lot was VIII.

Pop music sucks
03-02-2008, 07:31 AM
Sometimes in VIII when I had three party members that were low on HP and it was an intense boss battle, I'd summon two GFs so they'd take the hit while I hope that the random attack doesn't kill off the one that's trying to use a cure spell or item.

Brew
03-02-2008, 08:53 AM

The quicksave feature is pretty useless aswell.

It quicksaves, then asks you to turn the DS off and then when you turn it back on you can continue from where you quicksaved, but only once. So quicksaving before a boss has no use whatsoever as you can't reload that quicksave if you get beaten.

I absolutely loved it.

By the full game's end, you'd have Full-Cure slotted so that you don't need to waste an Ability Junction for HP, that way you can rig up crazy **** like Str+60% if you haven't already done Str Bonus.

Zell's "Fistmageddon" or Irvine's rapid fire make great Omega killers.

There are even strategies to getting Rinoa's Angel Wing to spam Meteor. With Mag+60%, it's another retarded way of doing endless damage.

Kill two characters (preferably not Cloud) before attacking Ruby. The character that's still alive must have Phoenix. Instead of Whirlsanding characters away, Ruby drop his tentacles straight away. Cast Phoenix, and set up a W-Summon Knights of the Round cycle. If you have Dragon Force, it protects you from Ruby's ultima barrage just before he dies.

He was also affected by things that caused stop (ie Hades).

awesome rpg with sprite characters and rendered backgrounds, a real-time battle system and variable storyline based on how you interact with your party characters

loads of non-battle skills to learn as well from homeopathy and metallurgy to composing and playing songs that have weird effects on your environment

you can make the best weapon in the game like 2 hours through it, it's so awesome

and you can level up to level 255 (which is pretty important considering how incredibly powerful the final boss is if you turn off his limiter), god it's epic

So here's an interesting topic (or is that two topics?) we can talk about. Read this extract from the wikipedia article on the Fabula Nova Crsytallis collection, of which FFXIII and FF versus XIII are but two parts:

At E3 2006, Square Enix called the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, which at this moment includes 6 games, 1 film, 1 OVA and 2 novels, a "50 billion yen project" (roughly 420 million USD) and said it would span until the 20th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII (2017).

In turn, they called the new Fabula Nova Crystallis project a "100 billion yen project" (roughly 840 million USD) which gives the impression that Fabula Nova Crystallis would span quite a number of years and include many more titles, possibly including films, books, anime, manga, toys, etc.

What are your thoughts on the highlighted bits? Excited and looking forward to both a new, massive collection of FF-related things in the Fabula Collection? Excited about the continuation of the FFVII franchise? Or apprehensive that Square_Enix are going to ruin the FFVII world by milking it too hard? Do you have similar fears for Fabula Nova Crystallis?

Discuss.

Brew

They should leave VII alone and concentrate on making a decent Final Fantasy.

However, Crisis Core looks awesome.
