Ya I hate leveling up but I also hate dying.

I like Nibelheim. What went down there was pretty cool.
Yeah it is. I think my other favorite part is when you go back to Midgar to beat Shinra and the events that lead up to that part.

big guard -> most imba spell ever

-gives barriere & magic barriere (=wall) + haste
-costs less mp than "wall" yet it is cast upon all of your party and not just one character

^_^

MAthiAS
02-20-2008, 11:08 PM
You could Wall-All though, but still, Big Guard is ridic.

Magic Hammer was retardedly good too.

I always loved using Comet, not Comet 2, just regular Comet. So cool to see that thing go smash.

But still, they were cool.
My final party was Cloud, Cid and Vincent.

Oh wicked team, my friend. I typically used Tifa instead of Cid. I think next play through, I will, for the first time ever, play through using the characters that the logic of the storyline demands, rather than the characters I like most.

In other news, am I justified in spending £94 to get FF: Origins, FF: Anthology and FFVI for the Playstation? That's rather a lot of money for three (five if you want to be picky) games.

I pretty much want to get 1 to 6 on GBA but I've only found IV and that was in the used shelf in EB Games

I'm guessing VI on PS is similar to what they did with Chrono Trigger? I tried playing it on PS and the scenes were just lame. The small upgrades they did to it didnt make much of a difference to me either.

EDIT: Anyone whos got FF3 on DS, wanna trade friend codes? I want to unlock the Ultima Weapon and class mastery weapons and onion knight but I have nobody to send mail to.

I can't remember where I got with VI, quite far I think.

College starting back meant I had little time to play so I lost interest..I'm planning on getting FFVI:Advance sometime soon. Probably once I've finished FFIII.

I've got FFVI PS1 but the slow loading times annoy me.

MAthiAS

Sabin was so badass. Same with Shadow.

In FFVII I used Tifa and Yuffie. Tifa so cool with Powersoul and Deathblow, and I liked Yuffie's limits the most.

The best FFVII game I ever played (the one I 100%'d everything and still have saved on Disk 3), my final party was Cloud, Vincent and Yuffie.

about 9 and a half hours, which was absolutely PELTING it but i got too many random encounters and missed some good items

the main thing that's hard is doing it at level 1 cause even the forced battles you have to find quick ways of avoiding any significant amount of exp, like in the evil forest where you have to fight these plant things

i think it's more or less impossible to keep absolutely everyone at lvl 1 tho. maybe if you can somehow stay zombified for the whole game

but yeh i just smacked the ice cavern so hard, no encounters, black waltz got shanked swiftly and i got a mythril dagger off sealion

what do you do, reset every time you get a random?

yeh, pretty much, tho there are ways of avoiding it

you can stop running like the moment the battle's probably gonna appear then start again and hopefully it'll reset the slider

saving on the world map will reset the slider, and while saving is a fairly time consuming process it takes about half as much time as the best possible battle could (i.e: zidane starting with full atb and immediately fleeing) so it's a good way of cutting that down

i've gotta say, this is one of the more masochistic ways of enjoying a videogame. the amount of soft resets i've done is probably in triple figures easily

Well the IV remake for DS should be released soon, no?

Its released in japan but there hasnt been an international release date set according to wiki :(

I meant like PS3 remakes for all of them. And a Chrono Trigger remake. That would rule.

I don't think that would work - to my mind he never really attained 'good guy' status until Dirge of Cerberus rolled along.

Which Chrono game was it that was the SNES one? Anyone know if that got ported to PAL Playstations? I know it got ported to American PSs.

of course that was in 04

Chrono Trigger was the SNES one.

If they remake FFVII, they need to keep the world map. I'm sick of picking out locations and arriving there automatically. I want to fly there myself!

Hell yes. I was having this discussion with a friend of mine just yesterday, with the power of the current gen consoles think how absolutely amazing an actual world map would be in an RPG game. Vehicles and stuff on them too, old school world maps ftw.

I think the first time I played the game, I was actually amazed at that point, it's one that really sticks out for me, because, you've just left Midgar, into the world, after thinking how huge Midgar was, then the whole game is ahead of you. You think your party is awesome having escaped the Shinra, then you see how Sephiroth fought, five years in the past. Humbling and amazing.

I think I've been through the whole thing at least three times. The final boss fight with Seph. is truly epic and I don't see how one can easily finish it without Knights of the Round, etc... but other then that what obstacle could keep people from finishing something so epic? This might sound stupid, but I've only been an FF fanboy of the first 6 games. I never played any of the 3D ones, even VII.

So, i was wondering if there was any difference in the battle system/gameplay, or if it just was a carbon copy.

There are major differences in everything post-FFVI. FFVII through XII have completely different combat systems.

i'm not sure there'd be any point to a vii remake for me, cause it was fine as it was, bad translation included. I'd just love to see a new final fantasy capture some of the feelings i had in vii, cause to me the combination of the narrative and environment in that was fairly powerful (9, 10 and 6 share this, as well as chrono trigger).

Idk i think a chrono trigger remake or sequel would be pretty cool, i'd like to see the battle system and some set-pieces slightly refined. I just don't think any of the playstation ffs need to be remade because the music, visuals and gameplay alike were pretty rock solid

reallllllly interested in new star ocean tho. much love for that series.

The Advent Children soundtrack is my least favourite of all of the FF music collections. (Obv. apart from FFXII, which is just horrid).

It's alright, but being a movie, it sticks to movie music conventions and some of the music just feels forced to fill up battle scenes. With the exception of the amazing Black Mages reworking of One Winged Angel, and Nobuo's new track, Cloud Smiles, I think it's all pretty dull, or the tracks can be found elsewhere.

Just download the FFVII and FFVIII piano tracks, it's all one needs.
