The FF3 you played in the US or UK is in fact FFVI. It's a bit hard to explain how the whole number system works. Wikipedia explains it pretty good.

FFV is great... but i never really got that far. when you have to go to Galuf's world, you have to fight a boss at each of the asteroids. the one with 5 purple bombs (byurobolos, or something like that) always messed me up cuz they could revive each other :upset: strategies?

basically, a strong attack that deals damage to all. just kill them all at the same time

There should be 2 consoles with blue buttons(i forgot what area its in) but if you see those, hold L+R and while holding that hit A, while facing one of the consoles. :thumb:

Are you using an emulator? If so you need to assign L + R to one button because emulators have a limit on the number of keys they read at one time.

It has to do with the story from FFV... I think.

Because in FFV, there are crystals that you use to gain powers or something, and the final boss in IX was a boss in FFV,I think.

In the early FF games, upto about V the characters have Crystal Shards giving them powers etc...in IX they brought back the idea of having a Crystal as the focal point in the game.

But if you haven't played the early games Necron is a bit confusing.

yeah ffX was great and the characters were awsome and i think it had a great story line but then ffX-2 came out and i rushed to get it thinking it would be awsome like the others but i found it to be crap the story line was the whole missions thing was f**ked up and i didnt even bother to finish it because i found it that annoying!! :upset: although my freind who bothered to finish completed it in a couple of weeks!! :lol: so im pretty glad i didnt bother althogh it was a waste of money me buying it :angry:

I've just spent the best part of an hour playing Final Fantasy I. Its quite easy and enjoyable, the story makes sense but at times its tricky to know where to go. The only thing thats annoyed me so far is the fact the Phionix(sp?) Downs cost 500gil each!

I hope they dont use real time battles forever now. Hopefully it turns out ok in 12, i just dont like the idea of not having the traditional FF systems. Whenever I think FF, I always think about great story, great soundtrack, and a great turn based battle system.

And I really hope the main character doesn't turn into another whiney Tidus, because Vann already looks like a 16 year old lesbian girl. Whatever happened to the badass main characters, like Cecil, Locke/Edgar/Sabin/Cyan, Cloud, Squall?

So far FF12 is looking pretty good. The story seems like its gonna be dealing with a lot of airships, pirates, and war. The thing I'm most concerned about is the battle system. :thumb:

in japan, it is ff6, because it was the 6th in the series. but in america and europe, they decided to call it 3 (anybody know why?)

I thought it was only FF3 in America because Europe never actually got the ''real'' FF3, we got FF I,II,IV,V,VI,VII,VIII,IX,X,X-2,XI but we still haven't had a legit copy of III, whereas the America got FF IV,V,VI which to them was I, II and III.

I think i got the most replay value out of FF8, mainly because i got stuck at a certain boss everytime and i couldn't go out into the world map to train, so i had to restart and I got every GF on the way.

I liked the characters in VIII. I thought they were cool.....but I agree with you about the missing monster character. That game had the least amount of playable characters, only 6(not including Laguna's squad)

Freya wasn't a monster. You're thinking of Quina. In terms of monster characters, I liked Red XIII a lot, he was very cool with an awesome backstory that you learned about throughout the game. I like him for a similar reason to why I like Vincent, he's mysterious. But I agree that the characters of VIII had similar backstories (well, you learn about that too, but its more boring), so they just didn't seem as cool. ok, let me re-phrase it. non-human characters then.

i thought kimahri and red's history were quite interesting, and were good for the game. kimahri was a 'disgrace' to his tribe, but he got welcomed back later in the game, and red thought that his father was a coward but later found out that he was actually a hero.


about X-2; we knew it was going to be a sequal,so it was fine for square to put in familiar faces. but my problem is that it focused too much on the main character - yuna.

Yeah, most of them sucked. Tidus was a whiny emo kid. Wakka just annoyed me. Ditto for Rikku. Kimahri was boring. Auron was pretty cool, and Lulu was alright too. Oh yeah, and no secret characters or anything... X was so freakin linear.

Whoever made that was full of crap. I'm sorry, but they're wrong about a lot of things. I agree that FFIX was really awesome and underrated, and I agree that FFVII was somewhat overrated, but for the most part they're full of it. I mean, Final Fantasy VI for worst music? I agree that he was wrong about a lot of stuff. But don't say he placed too much emphasis on his own nostalgia. Old school final fantasy is simply unbelievable. I agree with him on that. The best? No, I don't think so. But him saying IV is the best FF game ever made is something I can understand, even if I don't agree. IV is brilliant. So is VI. If you haven't played it, play VI. My favorite game ever since I first played it at 6 years old.

Also, Kuja is definitely the best villain, in my opinion. Sephiroth is pretty bad ***, but not really all that fleshed out. Just like, power hungry. Kuja is so amazingly human. He's not just pure evil, he's shades of gray. He's like a tragic hero that went down the wrong path, and that's what makes him so memorable, in my opinion.

Also, the story for FFXI is amazing, but you do have to be quite advanced in the game to get to the meat of it. He obviously, hasn't. At level 60, I'm not even half way done.

Ah man that is one of Uematsu's best songs. One of the best songs in all the Final Fantasy games. My other favourite of his would have to be Liberi Fatali, haunting stuff.

Same here, my server is happily moderatly populated, with a few gil-selers around. Namely the apple and life gangs. Beside the fact that the economy is sometimes seriously messed up, it is a very good server.

Seraph's economy has been reasonably stable since I started, although the prices can be pretty high. A pair of Leaping Boots cost around 900,000.

Um... no. I got Kingdom Hearts from some special Kingdom Hearts fan site. I own Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross soundtracks (jesus christ importing is expensive!) And I got VI from a friend.

I got the Black Mages albums from that site, it's a good one.

You should definitely pick up FFT when you have a chance. Great game.

When you begin FFXI, you choose from 5 races, that is, hume, elvaan, mithra, taru, and galka. The different races have different stats, that make them better for different jobs. Speaking of which, at the begining of FFXI, you can choose from six different jobs: white mage, red mage, black mage, thief, warrior, and monk. Later, you can unlock: paladin, summoner, ninja, beastmaster, dragoon, ranger, bard, and samurai. The last thing you choose when you begin is your national alliegance. Regardless of your race/job, you can choose from three cities, Windurst(city of the tarus/mithras), Bastok(Hume/Galka) and San'doria(Elvaan).

There is a set main story, and you preform different missions to further progress your stories. The more missions you do, the more rank you gain; you start at rank 1 and can get up to 10.* Aside from missions, you can partake in quests, which are given by some of the NPCs that populate the town. The quest rewards can range from useless(100 gil) to very rewarding(certain valuable scrolls).

Vrtra is a dragon that was forced to be the guard of grave of one of the most respected San'dorian kings in the games history. This being the case, he is incredibly tough. Once he is defeated, he will eventually re-spawn(as does every other monster) so that others can have a go at him. The motivation to killing this mobs and other mobs that arn't quite as powerfull as him(Tiamat, Kirin, Genbu) is that they drops very very good armor and equipment, or materiels that can be made into very good armor and equipment.

The two expansion packs that have been released add two additional story lines that all tie together with the main one, and allow for many many more missions to be accomplished, but are really for the higher-level groups.

To anyone curious about FFXI... Levels 1-10 will undoubtably suck. Stick with it and get to a fair level before judging the game. Don't be like that guy on the Final Fantasy awards website.
