ah the good ol days when I used to get like 30 posts per day. Remeber when we had an FF hurt and heal? A lot of back stabbing and betrayal between the FFVII character fanboys and FFVI character fanboys.
Yes, that game tore apart friendships.

I think I've come to the conclusion that FF8 had probably the best cities/towns/locales in all of the FF's so far.
Hmm... A lot of the locations were cool as hell but not so much the towns, IMO there were better ones in VII.

Midgar was pretty crazy, but you didnt even get to explore it.
I know, we need more in the remake.

Ah the good ol' hurt and heal.

Stupid Tifa winning
Yes, that was like at least 50% my doing. Up against Vivi I think? And someone from VI. Divide and conquer :smash:

I couldn't live in Treno, constant night? No thanks. It'd drive me mental.
Ha I think that would be its main attraction for me. To each his own though I suppose.

Still hoping huh?

To be honest, I really want them to do it, but, I can't see them doing it unfortunately.:upset:

no, any one of the FF KKK (Kuja, Kefka, Kain) should've won it :)

Cyan wouldve been a fine winner too. its weird that the characters who i think are awesome all start with K (Cyan is Kaienne in the Japanese version) :p

Yeah silly translations! In my FFVI OSV booklet its translated Cayenne, like the pepper. But whenever I see Cyan, I always pronounce it "Sai-inn."

And yeah I wouldve loved to see an FFVI character win but NO, it had to be the more overrated FF of course.:thumb:

Hahaha.

I think its cool when I find out what the translation equivalents are. I never knew until like 2 years ago that Atma Weapon was really supposed to be the Ultima weapon. That was pretty cool and I dont know why.:thumb:

And also I remember that Holy was renamed Pearl for the american version because holy was considered controversial in videogames at the time.

Pfft, he's not even the best VI character (Locke, Celes, Sabin, Shadow...). And I think Kefka wasn't that great of a bad guy... like (fanboyism aside), Sephiroth had a much deeper character.

A lot of FF7 only made sense once I watched the Remeniscence of FVII thing on the DVD since that was actually translated properly, unlike the game. The whole Zack thing made a lot more sense too, seeing how him and Cloud being captured and then escaping to Midgar never happened when I played through the game.

Just got my limited edition FFXII soundtrack in the post anyway. The booklet and tracklist are entirely in Japanese, but I like what I've heard to so far.

That site's where I've got most of my FF soundtracks from, dl/ed the live in Tokyo one from the bottom earlier. I only own two, AC and FFXII, but I've only seen them in stores here once, all for around £30. Once I've got the money I'll probably order a couple of the one's I've downloaded off playasia.

I finally finished Final Fantasy I on the GBA. It was pretty fun. Last boss was cake though since I was around level 82 and had the Ultima Weapon and the Masamune for my 2 nights. Then a black and white mage paired together for good magic for healing and destruction.

Anyone else played this for GBA? Great game I thought.

The only thing that ticked me off really was the fact that once I landed my airship and then got on my boat to go somewhere, it took me forever to find the airship again. I traveled the whole ocean pretty much. :-\

I think there was only 5 in the game unless you mod'd a card.

MAthiAS

Probably something like that. But I never ever use Megalixirs under any circumstance.

Something cool I read in a walkthrough was that when you're in the prison in Galbadia, and play cards with the prisoners, if you have the max numbers of their crappy items they like to give you, they'll give you good items like Rosetta Stones, etc.

yeah you can in practise, i've been doing it and atm just have use my current deck ticked, and open tick with "all" ticked in the drop down menu, i think the drop down menu is how many cards you win at the end.

does anyone have a link to the rules i can't remember what all the modes do, and i'm getting owned with some of them on

Happy
06-18-2006, 06:42 AM
well I'm not winning cards off the computer :(

I think I only understand a few.

Same is if you place a card down to another with the same number eg two 4's next to each other, you will take that card.

Same wall is where you take that card and any cards it is next to that it has a higher number than I believe.

Elemental's pretty easy to understand. If you place a wind card down on a wind square, it will gain 1 point on each of it's numbers. Likewise with every other element.
If you put a wind card down on say an Earth square, it will have 1 point subtracted from each of it's numbers.

Sudden Death and Random are pretty self explanatory, I can't remember what the others are though.

That's right about Cid... he was like a good member of the Empire or something. Most of the Cids are meh cept VII's IMO.

I think moogles are cool, I'd have one as a pet. Chocobos are awesome for their roles in VII and Tactics.

This exact problem is why I usually spend like an extra 15 or 20 minutes leveling up with everyone outside of every new town or place in RPG games now, so that im a good bit above average, so that whenever a character leaves and comes back (which they always do) they are at least still average.

Zeidrich or something like that. And Elena has a Minerva Band.

The band was pretty cool, but not all that involved. I love the Wall Market/Don Corneo part of VII. A couple times I've started a game just to do that part. The RTS game in VII is also way cool.
Ah, thanks, that reminds me how long it is since I played VII, it's going to be my next project after V. Xeidrich is great armour, but there's no Materia slots, and when you have Ultimate weapons, that means no growth, so I tend to keep off it.
I'm looking for the water crystal town on V now.

Zeidrich also has like no magic protection if I remember correctly.

I'm probably going to replay VII soon too, a low level game. Should be fairly fast that way, then I'll play IV and CT.

Megaupload it then?

The Black Mages are a band that I'll not listen to for two months then it'll come on randomly and I won't be able to listen to anything else for a week, then the cycle repeats.

Meh, they only allow 250MB unless you pay for an account to upload more. The concert is 833mb:angry:

OK

I need your guys opinion on which classic RPG I should revisit.

The choices are:

-Chrono Trigger
-Chrono Cross
-FF4
-FF6
-make a suggestion(although I'm pretty much set on one of those 4)

I think I just attacked it until it died...I think I did it in about two goes...

I'm just on the Steamship after I rescue Mid on V...I need to go to Jackole I think.

IV is a really good game, better than V, I think, although V is funnier...the stupid Job system annoys the hell out of me, I mean, what's the upper limit on Jobs so I can start a new one?
I know I don't have to...but I wanted to get a pretty high level before I switched.

Gau was always the most useless character for me.

I've only played VI of those, though I plan to get IV and CT soon. So I don't know. But suggestion wise, Star Ocean 2 maybe?

Does anyone remember Saga Frontier? I think it was the second one that Square always promoted on like the back of booklets for PSX FF games.

Anyone played any of these:

Alundra
Lunar: Silver Star Story
Grandia (any)

FF6, mainly for Ultros, he's one of the best FF characters ever, it'd be so awesome if he was a playable character.

Alrighty I chose Chrono Cross since I only ever beat it once(the others I've beaten countless times) and the story didn't sink in that well the first time I played it.

Anybody ever play Radical Dreamers? It was the true sequel to Chrono Trigger in the form of a text based(with pictures) adventure. It was only released in Japan, HOWEVER, I've had the fully translated ROM for a very long time. Let me know if anyone wants it.:thumb:

Grandia
I played, what I think was the first one, because it was just called Grandia as far as I remember it, on the playstation. I loved that game, but never got around to beating it, I think it still might be in my house somewhere, I'll definatly try to dig it out now that you reminded me of it.

Good game though

If you haven't already, to earn some experience defeat all of the doors in the cavern (Casting reflect on your party will evade their instant KO attacks). Casting Haste is also a good idea if time is an issue.

Oh god, I suck with strats, but...

Make sure you use Cyan's Dispatch, Sabin's Pummel or Aura Bolt(if you have Fire Dance, USE IT, it is weak against fire and lightning if I remember correctly), and if Shadow doesn't have too many throwing items, use him as a healer and in between use him for attacks. Sometimes, Shadow will block and Interceptor will come and own everything.:thumb:
