I have a problem. I have gotten a few FF midis because I love Nobuo's work. But I would like to convert them to MP3 for my MP3 player does anyone know how to do this?

Would you rather have all of the FF soundtracks in mp3 for free?

well, the game is originally japanese, so Yuna spoke Japanese. and her lips move in time with the japanese.

I know why the lips don't match, my point was other games manage it when they're made in japanese, why not FF, it's a big francise they always know it's going to be released world wide from the start of the game. It's not like it's a small game realeased only in japan then for some reason the rest of the world.

I think she talked slow to try and make the lip-sync more in time with the English version.

Yeah i thought that, but they didn't seem to care about the other characters, they talk'd normally.

Hmmm...yeah, come to think of it, Tidus was the only other character that seemed to suffer from 'massive gaps in dialogue sysndrome'. Wakka, Lulu, Auron, and Rikku all seemed to talk at a reasonable pace without any massive breaks. Still, that's what you get for having the original diolgue in Japanese.

but FF final boses in general are usually pretty easy.

I beg to differ. The fourfold fight at the end of FFVIII is a beast.

It was pretty difficult but once I unlocked Limit it was pretty easy. 20 Renzokukens and it was all over. However I did have to sit through Griever's Shockwave Pulsar once and Hell's Judgement a few times.

Ninja Editors, RIP.

I was one of the "members" but I ended up getting way too busy with school and exams and I promised I'd work on drum tracks as soon as I was on vacation, but by then I'd lost interest. Most other people lost interest as well, and I took up some new projects on my own.

I recorded a very very rough demo of JENOVA which was our first song though it was nothing special. :thumb:

Steve Burton did Cloud in KH. He's pretty good. Mena's in American Pie isn't she?
Dunno how that'll go and RLC's not in anything I've ever seen.

So what is the best old FF? I have finished IV and am about to finish V(At least I think so. I'm up to the bit where the two worlds just got melded). I prefer V but it has way too many Random Encounters it just gets annoying but still overall better than IV. Oh btw how do I get the Mime job? to get Mime: you know where that tower sunk in the first world? go to that place using the submarine. you get 5 minutes to get to the crystal shard and back out. this isnt hard unless you're using an emulator - you need an FAQ in order to navigate through the black screen.

once you get to the crystal, you'll fight Gogo. beat him in a special way to get Mime (i'll leave you to work out how).

and as for best old FF, VI is overall the best, whether if its the best old FF or the best FF ever.

go straight to the beginning and move on up. i would try 2 then 6 ( or 3 if you are thinking old school) then move to 5. it all depends on your preferences. you might get annoyed at 2 because of the lack of being able to choose your characters through the game. i mean you get a good guy and he dies and is replaced as it goes through the story.

So I'd say pick up Origins for playstation, play I and II, then play IV and you can choose if you want to play 5 or 6. I believe they progressively got better through to 6.:thumb:

Damn those loading times then! Maybe I can borrow a GBA. Are theyre load times decent? and I assume the actual games have not been changed? And what about emulators are they as slow?

I think il go for FFI and then pick from VI/V/VI.

The loading times on IV aint that bad but V is about 3 seconds. At the moment I am playing it through a PS1 but sometime I might put it in my PS2 and use that speed up load times of PS1 games option.

And to that guy who asked about the European edition. I really dont know why the PAL Version has Iv instead of VI but it reall annoys me because I can't get Chrono Trigger now (Although Ive played it through an emulator).

PS2 has a speed up load times of PS1 games option?

GBA cartridges and ROMs for emulators dont have any loading time. they dont have any cut scenes or anything though, but i'll sacrifice them for smooth gameplay anyday.

i think they improved the graphics slightly for FFIV on the GBA. and i think they made the game easier and better in some ways (eg. you can 'dash' in towns etc by holding the B button. you can't do it in the original japanese one  )

I just tried it. It knocks about a second off but of course it is still quite annoying but worth it for such a great game. Also I know the smoother texture options also work because it fixed up those blocky textures on the original Gran Turismo. But unfortunately some games dont take to that option all that well.

Although I've always felt that Squalls character development wasn't made very obvious. Cloud's story confused the hell out of me. Who is he made by? Hojo?
He was a real person, who grew up in Nibelheim with Tifa and went off to Join SOLDIER, but only became a Shinra trooper. He returned to Nibelheim two years after, but as a trooper, not a SOLDIER as promised. He kept his mask on, because he felt ashamed, and was taken to the Reactor with Sephiroth, Tifa and Zack, Sephiroth goes crazy and destroys the town, upon the realisation that he is a clone, and Cloud follows him, and Kills him. After killing Sephiroth in the Nibelheim reactor, Cloud was taken, and along with Zack, experimented on, and Injected with mako by Hojo (This is why he has "that glow" despite never actually joining SOLIDER.) After three years they eventually escape, and make it to close to Midgar, although Cloud is very sick and ill. Near Midgar, Zack is shot by shinra troops, leaving Cloud to die. Cloud manages to crawl into Midgar, where he is discovered in the station by Tifa. Seeing her again makes Cloud better, and he takes Zack's history, as he feels ashamed at his failing to become a SOLDIER. He is persuaded to help in the Reactor Bombing, under Zack's chosen guise as a mercenary. This is the start of the game.

Chrysostom
02-21-2006, 12:28 PM
But if I recall correctly, Tifa knows that he's appropriated Zack's past but doesn't tell him that because she fears it'll screw him up. Also, I'm pretty sure he'd had a Mako injection before the incident at the reactor, because he manages to with stand being stabbed straight through his body, and at this point Sephiroth remarks on the glow in Cloud's eyes and asks him who he is.

I think so. Both Clouds and Squall stories revolve around them being closed and somewhat aloof. They're both Loners at the start and both in denial about themselves and in some emotional turmoil. Neither are particularly social either. Cloud at first just wants to earn the money and get out as quick as possible, much to the annoyance of Barret. Their past is also cloudy to themselves at best.(Get it!).

The basic character outlines are very similar to begin with. Obviously as you go into more detail they become different and the causes of what makes them the way they are are different, as they are different stories. I just cant help but imagine the Square brainstorming session for FFVIII as them sort of giving up and going something like:
"hmm, lets take Cloud, put a bit here.....tweak there...take a slice off here..add a bit... VOILA! SQUALL". In my head they seem to be french for some reason!? Dont question why, dammit).

You may be right there, but the games they put them in and the way the stories are told are different. With Squall you see everything from his point of view, you hear all his thoughts, etc. With Cloud, you don't, its mostly trying to piece the/his story together, which is what he's trying to do anyway.

Eh, they both appeal to me for different reasons. I relate to Squall more, but with Cloud I never understand his story for any extended period of not playing the game, so there's always replay value there.

I always understand it fully when I go through it, but totally forget everything when I finish the game =/
I think the reason FFVII's story was so needlessly complicated was because of a really poor translation.
Maybe partly. I don't see why they don't have translators that had English as their first language, so they can tell if the meaning is getting across right, as opposed to having a direct translation.

Ahh, tbh I preffered Premier/mike to the new one. When I first saw chrysosom I though to myself wtf is that? So im guessing yours is the phillosopher and not John of Antioch then! /google/wikied it.

I didn't change accounts because of the name. And yes, my Chrysostom refers to Dio of Prusa (the golden-mouthed = Chrysostom).

I've always read the story in FF, even when i started with the snes games when i was a child, but it's one of the only games i had time for. I remember someone lending me balduers gate when i must of been 13ish and just skipping through it because i didn't care.

I was fairly young when I played FFVII as well and I got confused alot because sometimes I took a different meaning as to what was intended with the text. Now that I am 17 I fully understand it now, and I'm playing through FF8 as well and understanding bits that I was confused about before.

Ive spent ages looking for decent ones, now Mx is back up ive seached their ones and they suck also.
At least the ones Im looking for.

Also does anyone here have some tabs for some of the black mages songs? Ive figured out the intro to hunters chance myself because the ones I found were either retarded/over simplified or quite literally not the same song! Its just too time consuming to figure them out myself. Any would be great!

you can find some GuitarPro tabs, at http://www.mysongbook.com. there are some accurate tabs there. there's also a site where you can download the official sheet music, but i forgot it. i think you'll find it in the Ninja Editors' thread.

Apparently there's a 'wait' and 'active' mode, like in previous ones. In wait you control every character's every turn, and I think menus pause everything. In active you control one guy, though you can change whenever you want, and you get menus for that one guy and everything is completely active, with AI controlling the rest of your party.

Pretty crap IMO, if you watch the demo it looks like single player WoW. But I'm optimistic about the story as it supposedly includes "empires and stones and stuff that everyone is trying to get ahold of". Zodiac stones anyone?

Well, as long as theres still a turn based option, I wouldn't call it crap. The FMV I've seen is totally killer.

Ya, I think Hunter's Chance and Vamo a Flamenco are the best TBM songs too, and You're Not Alone is great too... but other than that there's not too much there. But VII I can listen to the whole soundtrack straight through and love all of it.

I agree with a lot of what has been said on this page, cept for the cheese bit.

To me the FFVIII music was the most, 'professional' of any Final Fantasy game. The closest Nobuo has gotten to composing for a movie.

Whilst IX is the most mellow, relaxed, sorrow, mournful etc FF soundtrack, whilst at times chirpy, retro and a tribute to the series past.

02-27-2006, 04:46 AM
The music played on the SeeD test when you land in dollet is just great. But I love all of FF8's music. Did Nubuo do the music for the Final Fantasy movie? Which is much better than most people thought I reckon. (Movie I mean, can't remember the music)

Liberi Fatali
02-27-2006, 04:49 AM
Nah he didn't, which is a real shame in my opinion. Some guy called Elliot Goldenthal did it, who has also done the music for SWAT, Batman Forever and Alien 3.

I really did not like that movie. >:[

Yeah. VII had the best battle music, on the basis that it didn't get really boring even if you were in one place levelling up characters.

VIII really nailed the romantic side of FF musically, while VII was spot on in it's attempt to convey a grim, depressing and emotionally downbeat world through the music.
