I liked the X intro because the graphics were sick. But its really not that good, and I really really hate blitzball. Suckiest mini game ever.
VIII actually has really solid FMV graphics though.

They have bad graphics and bad story, apparently. I don't know, he listens to Will Smith, so his opinion isn't very valid.

I haven't posted in here for a long time. Anyway, I am doing the same thing. I started replaying FFVIII. I've made it all the way to Ultimecia's Realm. The last time I played the game I was like 12 years old and I never got this far into the game. I would have to agree, Squall's thoughts really make the story move along. I still kind of found it weird that he totally switches his whole additude about things instantly when Rinoa was in trouble.

I have squall, zell and irvine at lv 100 and the rest at lv 15-16. Theres almost no reason to use them especially with junctioning.

Wow.
Even funnier thing...
Theres this area called Al'taiu, nicknamed "Sea," which is home to all sorts of monsters and is where the higher levels go and explore or hunt Notorious Monsters for awesome equipment. Theres one specific Notorious Monster named "Jailer of Love." There are various Jailers, Faith, Fortitude, Hope, etc., but Love is by far the hardest of them all. The first time it was taken down, it took 4 hours of Black Mages casting their strongest spells in order to take it down.
Finally when it was killed, an even worse enemy appeared. Absolute Virtue spawned in the same spot the Jailer of Love died mere seconds afterwards while the winning team was still celebrating. It then proceeded to rape every single person nearby, casting spells not yet available to mages, and hitting even the strongest people for insane damage. Not only that, but it had "pet" wyverns following around killing everything around it. No one knew what to do. So finally, someone "Called for Help," which basically allows anyone outside your party to attack the monster, but doesn't reward experience or items. Over 100 people in Sea attacked Absolute Virtue and only managed to bring it down to 98% health before its incredibly fast Regen kicked in. So in the span of two months that this new monster was added to the game, only two to three servers have fought Absolute Virtue and haven't managed to even dent him.
As long as you don't "Call for Help" you get all the loot and experience. What the Black Mage team did was cast their spells and rotate with other members to kill Jailer of Love. They would invite other members who were ready to cast their spells while they rested. All in all it took about 36 people.

The "crappy internet experiment" sure does have 5 (soon to be 6) awesome storylines. You may not like it, but you can't deny it's still a Final Fantasy much like any other.

SE's such a sadistic company. Here's putting it in a bit more perspective. The race with the most health, Galka, playing the job with the most health, Monk, has the HP of around 1600-1800. The pets that this thing calls can use limit breaks at will. One of them is Mijin Gakure, a Ninja's limit break where the ninja sacrifices all his HP and explodes, dealing alot of damage. Well, these wyverns explode, but they don't die, and instead of the normal 500 damage, they do FOUR THOUSAND DAMAGE. Instantly killing ANYONE in radius.

And waste upwards of 100 hours of your time ^__^.
The thing with Penance is, it takes soooooooo long to prepare for him and get all the right bits in place for your party.
You've got to get for each character that you're going to use:
Ribbon
Break HP Limit
Get their ultimate weapons
Get auto-haste for them
Get auto-regen for them
A very high luck level
Almost every stat at its maximum
etc
Or you can do it the cheap way and try your luck with Yojimbo.

Yup, you're right there.
FFVIII - the space station, just after Rinoa goes mental.
FFIX - currently desperately trying to build up characters before heading for the Iifa/Lifa Tree for the last time.
FFX - just got Rikku and she totally sucks balls. She does 50-70 HPs worth of damage.
And yes AC is awesome. :thumb:

I have X-2 to start after X as well, but I'll leave that until I'm through at least FFIX, which I've had for years but never finished, mainly because I was in a bad position HP/MP wise. I wasn't built up enough. I've done this again this time round, I can't seem to level my characters up in IX, it's the only FF where I've reached the last disc and been on only 3000ish HP. Bastard game. I'd start it again, but I suspect if I did I'd never play it again.

Erm...I don't rightly remember it's been a while since I've played it what with starting 8 again and then 10. I fear my two mages (Dagger and Vivi) are only just leaving the 2900s, while Steiner and Zidane might possibly be around 3300/3400. Though like I say, I can't be sure.

I think Zidane and Steiner may have an HP+10% slot in use, maybe even +20%, I'm not sure. Funny you mention Amarant. I used him the last time I played the game, and he is much cooler, but Steiner always seemed to me to be a central character, and I'd got more of his slots learned, so less need to spend time building him up.

She always kills me in one hit with Aqua lung (Something like that  ) I tried leveling up a few too, but it didnt help.
Wow, I found her fairly easy, except for that Aqualung. Just do what I do in these situations and have a dedicated healer who heals every turn regardless of whether you need to or not. That way you always have high health in response to any big attacks.

Unfortunately no. I was just having a conversation with Deus before about if Square will ever make a game as great as FF6 or Chrono Trigger again.
Dragon Quest 8 however is an amazing game and they should go back to their roots, not as basic of course, but instead of making feminie lead male characters, go back to knights and queens. Which is why I loved the above 2 games, it was in that vein only it had a slight mix of futuristic elements like magitek armor and airships.
