I don't get all the fuss about Xbox RPGs like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Fable and Jade Empire. I got Jade Empire for christmas and so far it has been nowhere near the 9.9/10 IGN gave it or the 5/5 many other reviewers gave it. They've got nothing on Sonys RPG classics.

I was in EB a few days ago and an employee was opening up a new box and he pulled out some packaged FFVII through IXs.

1 and 2 were good for the NES (2 especially), but they were pretty hard (2 especially). actaully, 2 was impossible to beat. i think the difficulty level is what separates the DQ series and the FF series.
for the SNES, if you can find a translated version of DQ6, then you won't need to look for another game for a long time. its one of the best RPGs ever, as good as FF6. but its hard.

Go to www.epsxe.com and download that emulator. It can be a little hard to get running at first, but they have a forum that's quite helpful. That's what I used for quite awhile. Also, www.emuparadise.org has quite a few playstation games available for download.

Ivalice is the world in FF Tactics (aka teh sex game :naughty: ). Although it will probabaly not have anything else related to tactics beacuse in tactics they talk about a time long ago when there was airships and such, and in XII, there looks to be airships. Who knows, maybe we'll see a young T.G. Cid (i wish)

Or it could be way in the future and they'll talk about the Lion War and whatnot. That'd be cool.
The best thing they could do is make a prequel to FFT letting you play as TG Cid, Balbanes, younger Zalbag and Dycedarg, etc. in the Fifty Year War. It seems that the events preceding Tactics weren't quite as explained as they could've done, so a game for them would be awesome.

that would be pretty cool. Maybe one of the main characters could be a Beoulve descendant!
But that prequel would be sex. Thats actually a really good idea. You should send Square-enix an email or something and tell them to do that. That would be a perfect story for a new tactics game.

Its very difficult for Diabloas to beat you, as his attacks are all gravity based, so only drain a percentage of health.

 i'll take over. to get Cloud's Ultimate weapon, you have to get in the highwind and chase Ultima Weapon all over the world map. you have to wait until it stops over an area, and initiate it in a fight. After a set amount of damage, it'll fly off. When you're fight on the Highwind, only long range attacks work. You have to do this several times. Usually you'll see it fly off after a battle and you can chase it, but occasionally you'll have to search all over for it. After a while it'll stop over Cosmo Canyon for the final battle. When you beat it, you'll get the Ultimate Weapon and have access to the Ancient Forest... Good Luck. btw, a few of the spots it stops at are Mideel, Nibel Mountain, Cosmo Canyon and Midgar.

It'd be cool if there was some way to hook up an mp3 player or the like in such a way as to get full orchestrated and TBM versons of the music to play in game.

Oh so do I. For instance, "The Rocking Grounds" is awesome even though I've yet to play FFIII. But there's an extra joy to knowing the tune. Not only does it allow you to hum or whistle the tune, but it allows you to see what they've done with the melody and arrangement.

Hell yeah. If you listen the song "Leftovers of the dreams of the stars" from the Xenogears soundtrack, the intro sounds almost exactly like the guardia castle theme. Gives you that Mitsuda feel.
I'm not sure if this is 100% true, but I read somewhere that Xenogears started out as the sequel to Chrono Trigger but the story elements ended up getting changed dramatically and made into a new game. I always noticed when playing Xeno, it FELT like I was playing a game related to CT.:thumb:

I can identify with that... i don't want to sound "superior" or whatever, but i can't stand when people say that instrumental music sucks... i like instrumental music better then most of the stuff on the radios today, especially when it's orchestrated or piano... i guess i just sound stuck-up, but w/e. Most people are stuck up musically. The mainstream audience look down on alternative stuff as unlistenable crap. Alternative people look down on the mainstream as generic and trashy. Death metalheads look down on other genres as pansyish. Electronica geeks look down on other genres as not adapting to the times and not truly experiencing the music. I'm not saying everybody is like that, but a lot of people do have one genre or section of music that they consider crap.
There will always be people that dislike the music you listen to, it is just a fact of life. No doubt when I'm 60+ and looking through all my old albums I'll think "what the hell was I on?" towards some of my current musical habits. I guess I'll just enjoy them now in the present.

in my experience ive found that people into metal (myself included) to have some of the widest music tastes/ able to appreciate talent in other music styles.
This is not going to be universally true, but is something ive noticed.
but yeah, there is always a genre you tend to dislike.

I actually noticed the exact opposite :-/
but if you as a "metalhead" have a wide music taste, more power to you :)

really?
I wouldnt call myself a metalhead, just the maj of music i listen to is metal/h.metal.
I guess the fact that I play an instrument as do a lot of other 'metalers' i know (namely guitar) has an effect on how we view music? Im sure there are a lot though who like liberi said look down on other music genres as not hardcore enough.

Nobuo always seems to be able to pull off one track in each Soundtrack that makes you just drop your controller and just listen.
Final Fantasy VIII - Blue Fields
Final Fantasy IX - Esto Gaza
Final Fantasy X - People of the North Pole.
Totally agree, except I'd argue he pulls off more than one per game:
FFVII - City of the Ancients/Bizarro Sephiroth/Northern Crater descent music/Jenova theme/Final Jenova theme/One Winged Angel
FFVIII - Centra Ruins/Intro music/Blue Fields/Trust Me/Legendary Beast/The Landing/The Stage Is Set
FFIX - Dagger's song/Evil Forest/Intro music/Hunter's Chance/Dali
FFX - The music outside Besaid Village/Otherworld...there will be more but I only bought it a few days ago, I'm only just past Luca.

I think if you are a musician, you tend to have wider musical tastes. Ever since I started playing guitar, I have migrated to just about every genre of music involving guitar. Not to mention I listen to classical music and of course, game music. I've learned to appreciate music A LOT more and I wonder what artists were thinking when they think of some of this music. :thumb:

I expect thats its because they consider jazz to be harder to learn to play espesially freestyle compared to ther genres, and its probably true to some extent. You have to be a very good musician to do well in jazz.
Even excellent musicians (in general) dont necessarily make good money, after all the music industry is all mostly about image, thats what sells.

I reckon as you learn an instrument, music becomes more than something you just listen to, you learn to appreciate the creativity a lot more and you see it in other music styles as well and can appreciate them more.
I have to say though indie music tends to annoy me, they want to look 'cool'/sound like theyre not putting any effort into their music and it shows. Thing is it doesnt have to be like that there are some perfectly decent talented indie bands out there.
Its back to the image thing, too much focus on that than the music.

Maybe they should've just ended it at IX, after all, that was a tribute to the previous FFs. But then they'd be leaving the capabilities of the new systems to waste. So... new Chrono? I think its gotten to the point where any new FF is going to be stacked up against 9 of the greatest games of all time, so its really not going to please.

Ninjas > Pirates, but do both.
Their best stories were with rebellion, in VI, VII, and Tactics. So I'd use a premise that incorporated that. Piracy could work with that, especially if you want an ADB system.
Ya know, I wish Zidane had stayed in Tantalus in IX, at least for longer. Seems like it could've made for a lot more fun.
