you keep on visiting the Balamb library and talking to the girl who fancies Zell. then at some point, when you rest at the Balamb hotel, the girl and Zell are talking while you spy on them. you get a Combat magazine in the end. how much of the conversation you hear depends on how much you have talked to the girl beforehand

Oh man, this answering machine is so cool. But why do some of them sound like Stephen Hawking.
The one from Wedge is cool. The Laguna is more or less how I imagined him, as is the Edea and the Quistis, and the Selphie. The Raijin however, is utter bollocks. Why is he from Yorkshire or Lancashire?
I love Squall "Whatever".

I gotta make my Christmas avatar soon I s'pose.
If I can get my hands on a new copy of FFVIII over Christmas thats what I'll probably be playing it loads.
Then when I get my laptop in the new year I'll probably emulate all the oldskool games and play them in order...because oddly enough I like doing things in order.
For example - for the past..3 months or so I listened to all my music in Windows Media Player (277 hours worth) in alphabetical order by song name...and now I've ripped the rest of my cd's (286 hours worth of music) and I'm going alphabetical order by album name...I mainly started doing this because the shuffle on WMP sucks.

I swear those retainers do nothing. They feel exactly the same if you wear them once a month as if you wear it every other day. My orthodontist asked me if I was wearing mine, and I said no thinking he meant that second, then he puts it in there and its pretty tight, so he says I'm lucky it still fits. right now the only final fantays game i have is 4 for playstation, which i never got into becuase i got it about a month before my playstation died, and i was at the last disk of 9 when i got it. after it broke, i let my "best" friend borrow DoS, Tactics Advanced, 7 and 9, and he stole them when he moved. and since i wont be getting a playstation/playstation2 anytime soon, should i get 4 for gba? i mean, if i even see 7, 8, or 9 at a store, its mine again, but if i dont see any of them, shoud i get 4?

Some of it was kind of lame cutesy, but it actually mixed remarkably well, in my opinion. The main story (as opposed to the disney side stories) took forever to develop, but when it did, it was really cool. However, it was also really inconclusive and open ended, and the gameboy sequel-ish game didn't really answer any questions, but certainly raised a lot more. So now I'm really anxious to get KH2.

They need FFVI characters in KH2. Seriously. Also, Cloud looks so awesome in that game. So does Sephiroth. Has anyone seen the cut scene of them fighting each other? It was only released in Japan, but it's awesome.

Meh. I find FFVIII more appealing in so many ways. I don't know if it's the sappy love story or the battle system. It just works so well for my taste. That's not to say that FFVII was bad... it was amazing as well, especially how it was the first great leap from the SNES series and that it paved the FF reputation.

I never really played the snes series of FF apart from a few times when i tried to get into them but failed. I havent really bothered, although i might give them another go eventually.
FFVII was really my first experience of that kind of RPG and the awe has stuck with me since. Fast paced but slow, etc.

Well, the patch to fix the FPS in the mini-games on PC VII didn't work. I don't feel like browsing around Qhimm to find a way to get it working.
They're gonna be stuck (literally) at Gold Saucer, I can't play the games well enough to amass enough GP to spend at the save point, because it's like playing in fast forward. I imagine Cloud on his snowboard smacking into every single tree and icicle on his way down the mountain.

You have to name them in FFI, which is annoying.

The FFX battle system was ****ing awesome. Only reason I feel it's worse than FFVIII is because you have to pretty much change your address to the monster arena to get any serious stat-capping done. Having your feet soldered in the same place for 40 gameplay hours kinda makes you go insane. And the sidequests weren't nearly as expansive as FFVIII, FFVII or even FFIX.

for the original GBA, it'll be cheap since they have the GBA-sp and gameboy micro out. but its got no backlight, so i reccomend getting a SP.
i think they remade 1 + 2 (both in one game cartridge) and 4 for the GBA. and i heard that 3 will be remade for the Nintendo DS, but im not sure if this has already happened or not.

in Dragon Quest 2 for the NES, the computer randomly picked a name for the characters you can use, which was annoying. it made one of my guys be called Biscuit for some reason.
Can someone help me out and link me to an emulator + FFI ROM? (or the one with black mages, white mages, etc so on and so forth). I need to play those. Size kind of matters to me (<56K :( ) so if it could be a small file size, it would be greatly appreciated. :)

For me it was in sixth grade, 5 years ago. My friend Daniel would always talk about final fantasy VII and I was interested. So one day I asked him if I could Borrow FF VII. He laughed and said no, but he let me borrow VIII. After that, I just fell in love with FF.
I bought VII next, then I think X came out a year or 2 later so I picked that up. Then I bought IX like 2 years ago. then I bought x-2 when it came out, which was probabaly a mistake spending 50 on that game. My most recent FF purchase has been Tactics, which was a great buy.

I really do miss my childhood, and those games are among some of the major reasons. I'd really like to relive those games for the first time again.:thumb:
That's actually pretty much exactly the same as me. My friends and I were looking for a game to rent, around second or third grade, and we saw FF3, and thought it looked cool. We were obsessed, and after that got into FFII(4), and Chrono Trigger.

It'd be cool if Nobuo could repeat another cool introduction song like that, although Otherworld by The Black Mages was pretty badass in Final Fantasy X. Especially the version on the Black Mages album.

True, Nobby did some excellent work with that piece, and I have to say the intro riffs to "Otherworld" as done by The Black Mages was pure and simple aural awesomeness. First time I heard that I was like, "woah, dude! like, totally awesome, and other generic 90's hipster expressions!"
Also, fun times with job being cancelled, Fosco.
The pervasive darkness of the sunless night is now shrinking before the vague hint of dawn - I can now officially call it an "all-nighter" (6:46am local time).

I agree with the second part. They don't have to be charasmatic though really... I mean, that's more Barret's role, for example. But leads should at least be mature...

Right now, I'm playing Final Fantasy VIII, and I'm doing the Winhill vase sidequest. I think there might be a glitch in my game, because when I go up to teh suit of armor to get the vase piece, no matter where I position myself and press X, Squall doesn't take the piece. I've tried every position around the armor. Is this a glitch in other games, or am I just not doing it right..?

Yeah, It lacks that certain FF depth that you expect after the previous ones.

You lost me on the lighthouse...
But for the Deep Sea Research center:
Obviously you have no choice but to take Squall. As for your other two choices, take someone you've junctioned with a high MAG level. Be sure you have Meltdown, and either strong curative magic or an elixer/megalixir or two. Some ice spells help as well.
Now, when you enter, you'll be greeted by a dim light in the center that begins pulsing as you make your way to it. Do not walk towards it as its pulsing or you'll be slowed down by a fight (easy, but a waste of time). The light glows in a wierd order so be sure you study it for a minute or two. It'll glow intensely, then cool down. Then it'll glow intenselye, begin to cool down, then blink back to its intense phase, so it basically just tries to trick you. Anyway, once you get to the light, you'll be asked some questions.
On the first question, pick the first choice. You'll be attacked by a Red Dragon (I think that's its name). Unload some Ice magic on him and Shiva if she's junctioned. You can also try Doomtrain to see what status effects will stick. Usually, the dragon will be Blind, which helps alot. Anyawy, once he's dispatched, head to the center again. On the next question, choose the second answer. Again you'll fight a Red Dragon. Now, the third time you make your way to the light, you'll have to pick the hidden answer. It's under the last answer choice, seemingly invisible. Choose that one, and prepare to fight one hell of a battle.
I won't spoil who it is, though more than likely you already know. Either way, cast Meltdown on him, and if you have it, cast Aura on Squall. If you have a Hero, give it to Squall, but only AFTER aura is cast on him. Then just unload on him with his Limit Break. If it doesn't show up when his turn comes around, keep pressing the Circle button until it does. And just keep your other two party members busy with casting Wind type magic or whatever else you have. Keep your HP hich because Mega Flare HURTS.
Once he's dead, refine his card and you'll get an awesome gift from it. Or should I say, 100 awesome gifts from it. Come back some time later and there'll be a hole in the ground. If you have Siren's Move-Find ability enabled, you'll see a Save Point, then make your way down. I'll leave the rest for later.
