I think he's the rules/creator of Terra. Old Man with a jewel in his chest and he wore a black suit of armour.

so IX relates to V only because of the crystals? How do the stories integrate with each other?

i have no idea about that part.. to me, they were completely different games, because i was used to the idea of crytals in FF because of the previous ones on the SNES.

maybe the last boss has some relations with the last boss in 5... they seemed a bit similar... i have no idea.

At a certain stage in the final fight in FF9, the boss begins quoting FF5 I think. I read that in the walkthrough on ffonline.com.

FF IX question:

who was Garland?

He was the protector of the souls of the people of Terra, as well as the creator of the Genomes. He was the guy who created Kuja and Zidane, who were meant to go to Gaia and basically kill a whol load of people, creating "room" for the souls of Terra, who would by then be inhabiting the bodies of the Genomes. Or something like that.

i forgot the last part of the quote, but they did act pretty similar.

Right after you get the dragon, you go through the metoer thing and then go to a town where they take you to jail.

Then you escape and the king(or some one) wants you to beat this flame guy so the crystal of water wont explode.

If you've played Tactics, you're no disgrace because it seems most FF fans haven't played it...

Anthology had V and VI, Chronicles was Chrono Trigger and IV.

On graphics... while good graphics don't make a game any more fun, the poorer graphics do make towns and characters look more monotonous. With PSX graphics, things have more identity.

It wasn't really a cash-in, it was more a game aimed at introducing the female audience to the Final Fantasy world. The problem was most females didn't buy it because it was a sequel to a game they don't have, while most people with Final Fantasy X didn't buy it because it's utter crap.

Why did they feel it necessary to create a totally new game just to encourage girls to play? Games don't generally interest the fairer sex, especially not RPG's.

the ending was quite cheesy, but still good.

after the fight with Necron, Zidane goes back to the Iifa Tree to rescue Kuja, because he did nothing wrong. then we see some plants attack him.

after some time, the Tantalos perform 'i want to be your bird' in Alexandria, and Garnet is watching it. the main character of the play is covered in a cloak, and he says 'and bring me back my beloved Dagger!', he takes his cloak off and reveals himself as Zidane. then Garnet runs to him and hugs him. the end.

its been a wile but i'll try

you fight Kuja and then fight some other dude (forget his name) then you return to your world outside the tree thing, and Zidane goes to save Kuja then it cuts away and you don't know what happens to him. then it has tons of scenes of all the characters reminiscing (sp?) until it goes to Alexandria Castle. a show is being held by Zidanes crew and queen Garnet is watching theres a guy with a cloak on stage and he takes it off to reveal that he is Zidane, Garnet rushes down to meet him and thats it

fell free to correct my mistakes

EDIT beaten, oh well

IMO, all of FF's best FMV cutscenes were in FFVIII. Like the Garden Battle was incredible, and I thought it was pretty cool how they seamlessly integrated the graphics with the FMV. I also like when Squall jumped from the building during the parade and also the Ragnarok peircing the Lunatic Pandora was pretty awesome.

in japanese, its

Ba
Ha
Moo
To (as in toilet)

so i think its Ba-ha-moot
That would be true if it's a Japanese word. But it's not. It's actually Arabic. It might still be the correct pronunciation though, I don't know. I always pronounced it Ba-ha-mitt.

If you like FFX, then you'll like this game. Gives you a bit of nostalgia(sp?).

It's not story driven really, and I loike stories that are very involving. This game has very little story. If you know someone who has t, ask them if you can borrow it, then try it out.

I might start playing it again after I beat Tactics.

Can you tell me where the plot was?

This movie did nothing to further the plot. It was pathetically laughable at how pointless this story was. At the end of it, all I could think was, "...This is what we've been waiting for...?" I felt cheated.

Then again, FF7 itself was very amateur in its storyline to begin with. The only degree of complexity was indirectly suggesting that Sephiroth was Jesus Christ (son of Jenova/son of Jehovah; name means path to Paradise). Nothing the FF team will ever do will match the philosophical complexity of Xenogears. Then again... Even Monolith can't handle that anymore now that Masato Kato is gone.

In any case, the movie was definitely a let-down. All it was was pretty graphics and old characters. I could've just watched the individual fight scenes and not missed a damn thing about the story because THERE WAS NONE.

Judging by trailers and reviews, I was worried that AC would suck. :(

I think VII's plot was great though. The best parts weren't about Sephiroth; the coolest stuff came from learning about Cloud and realizing how all of these memories were brought together through experiments to create a false past, and then watching as they uncover the truth while trying to stop the world from being destroyed.

You start in the city, trying to get tickets to a show. You either start in contol of Zidane or Vivi, I forget which. Both of them have some thing about getting into a carnival. Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure you start in control of Vivi.

The music isn't the same, its all midi. Not to mention, most modern video cards can't run it in hardware mode without the graphics getting SUPER distorted, at least with an amount of anti-aliasing or filtering. However, there's a site I know of that has a great forum. Users explain how you can actually play the REAL soundtrack to the game as well as some fixes for certain video cards.

The same problems are with the FF8 PC version.

I have VIII on the PC, which I think is why I never finished it :/

I got to the save point outside of the final boss.

First time I played it through, it had no music, just sound effects... Getting to the final boss with that sucked hard. Especially seeing as I love the VIII soundtrack.

When my computer died and I played through again, I just got fed up. Sound was there, but the cutscenes looked awful, and jerked.

Add to this the frustration of my hands aching (trying to emulate a Playstation controller on a keyboard ain't so good. My problem with VI on emulator too), and the fact that any of Zell's good moves were impossible on a keyboard (Dolphin Blow was about as good as I could muster).

Ozma was a lot of fun in FFIX. I thought it was quite difficult, but not as bad as Zeromus from FFIV. And definitely not as bad as the Wyvern from FFIV. That thing was insane.

I have both.:thumb:Link man, link!

Link man, link!

I wasn't sure if I was allowed to advertise another forum.

the site is http://www.qhimm.com though

The main site has all sorts of neat programs for ripping the videos from the FF8 PC discs and how to use soundfonts and other things like ripping sounds. It also has some programs for FF7 where you can import/export graphics and models as well as the in game sounds.

It's pretty much an oasis for everything FF7/8 PC versions.

whos fought ozma? according to the walkthrough its the hardest enemy.
did any one get zidanes best weapon? where do you get it?

Ozma is... annoying. he only has 65,000 HP, but since there's no way of doing more than 9999 for any move in the game, and plus the fact ozma has several ways of killing you instantly, and lets not forget his tendancy to have about 4 goes in a row (even with all your characters on auto-haste) he's more annoying than hard. I got him in about 10 goes or so.

Zidanes best weapon is only available on disc 4, right where the shimmering island used to be, you need a chocobo and a dead pepper to obtain it. It looks sweet :D

What is the prize?

Also, did anyone bother to train Hippaul? I did.

Also, what is with the rare items? I found out you can give a few away for money, but what about the rest of them? I can't use any of them, they just sort of sit in my inventory doing nothing.

Hippaul was easy. I read this walkthrough on gamefaqs saying have regular breaks etc and all these different ways of doing it, but the fact is i went right up to level 80 without stopping and i have never lost a race :)

What rare items are you talking about? Theres 4 you can buy from the Treno auction house (their names escape me now) Underdogs secret, Rat tail, and two others... you can sell them for a higher price than you paid for them. The others sit there, doing nothing. Unless you talk to the 4 armed man in Daguerro (or however you spell it, the secret town in the archipelago) and he'll tell you your hunters rank... most people start on level H or something, but if you get enough secret items and complete the chocobo quest, you will get the S hunter rank, and get an item for it. The item is a rare item which you cant use, but its nice to have :)

Isn't the damage capped at 99999? How is it possible to do more than that in a single attack?

If you look at the full version of Anima, he punches the enemy several times (hopefully for 99,999 damage) so i guess the computer automatically adds it up.

lets talk about ff10 (best in my opinion)
I don't think it is the best, but it's one of my favourites, It absolutely owned.

I beat Ozma after a while, he got annoying I never sed Freya or Quina to beat it because I hate both the characters...

In terms of longevity it owned, but in terms of the game itself I thought it was a pretty average Final Fantasy. It did have some redeeming points though, a good OST, an interesting level up system, beautiful graphics, some good FMV's and a bad *** character in Auron.

Ah I can see what you mean, the little villages of Kilika and Besaid were cool places, had a nice feel. I just wished they had been slightly bigger, or had more things to do in them.

One of my pet peeves in Final Fantasy games is how big cities in FF games only ever are about 4-8 screens in total. (By that I mean you can't browser the whole city and it just feels like you're restricted to a tiny fraction of the city). The cities in Final Fantasy VIII were alrite though, I remember getting lost in Esthar once or twice haha. Of course I realise though that it would be impossible to have an entire city to roam around in, and it'd be quite pointless. But still it would be nice to have larger FF cities.

The strange thing about X was the fact that Bevelle, the biggest city in Spira, was impossible to get into, apart from the temple and the bridge-thing.
And then in X-2...it was crap.
I just think alot of the game had a bright and happy theme to it...

Eshar was difficult to get around, especially in the "getting into Lunatic Pandora" part, I could only do it on my 3rd or fourth play through the game...

your right, he can only max out 99,999 in a single hit, i think he might mean overall. i think it is a bit weird how for a normal attack i take off 99,999 but with a ingle attack on oblivion i take off 30,000 ish, tis mighty weird :p

Yeah, that's a cool thing. But I think the crappiness of such a vague villain brought down this potentially awesome game. That and the characters and dialogue.

Yeah like Midgar, you really only see two or three slums. I get what you're saying, it would be sweet to explore more.

Well it usually changed depending on a situation. For example, when I was going down to the path to Ultima Weapon, I equipped everyone's attack with Blind, just in case i ran into Iron Giants(they are very easily blinded, and terrible in this state).

But a lot of the time I had Aura's and Curagas. It's been a while since I've played it.:thumb:

I dont remember using any special tactics for the Hojo fight, just make sure you have Haste and Barrier on everyone, and Regen if you have it, and try find a few rings that prevent sleep and poison, i just went at it with my strongest attacks and did it quickly.

Monk would be the most efficient. You'd have a really high attack power along with abilities like Wave Fist and Earth Slash, as well as Chakra for healing. I would say Ninja or Samurai for something more fun (not that Monks aren't fun).

If you allow yourself to learn magic from other classes, calculator is the best class to solo. By far. But if you limit yourself only to abilities directly in class, then monk is best.
